The game in question.

Sadly, the article does not mention the dancing wookiees. A simple Google search, however, yields terrifyingly strange results.

For those who think sci-fi RPGs would be a good idea... two words:

Dancing wookiee.

But seriously, we get enough of a sci-fi flavor with the Vahnatai in Avernum... when used properly, that is.

I hate self-quoting, but my laptop died roughly two hours after I posted this, quite possibly taking a month's worth of work with it. I swear... Embers of Rebellion is cursed.

That said, I can't bring myself to go back and re-do the work I lost until I know whether or not I actually lost it... the hard drive might be intact when I get the computer back, depending on what needs to be replaced.

So, in the mean time, I might actually take a fresh look at DoK2.

Irony bites.

Wow, even when I search "Ephesos", nothing but the Turkish city of the same name turns up until #30 and #36, which are Spidweb, and then #60, which is the Sanctuary. I think this name is safe.

Alright, fine... I stand corrected. What I meant to say was that the contest probably won't surprise anybody... Kel and TM vying for first, and a bunch of honorable mentions.

And for the record, I still have a scenario that has a great chance of making beta within a month.

Well... thank you for sharing. The next Scenario Design Contest will be judged in November 2006, and a number of people have already complted works, with a few more scenarios in testing stages right now. And then there's a bunch of us who still have works in progress.

I personally hope to at least compete with TM and Kel, but I'm relatively certain that Exodus will simply eat everything smaller than it and win by default.

I don't suppose you'd actually be working on a scenario yourself?

I assume you mean the transport pylons. They're easy enough to locate, really... just poke around every single friendly town you come to. I don't really think a list would be all that necessary.

But if you feel like it, go ahead. Someone will probably love it.

I personally don't bank on anonymity much... I mean, people here know who I am via Facebook, and I've never been one for hyperbole, which seems to be what got that unlucky blunt-smoker canned. That, and I have no gimmicks that can be perceived as harmful.

Though, I expect this also hinges on how the people in question perceive their identity on the internet: whether it's an alternate personality as a means of escape from reality, or just an extension/manifestation of the person's actual identity. I identify my identity with the latter, so I feel no need to worry. It's the people who create elaborate and questionable personas that might have something to worry about.

All of that said, I imagine that karma will render my Facebook account hacked wide open within a week.

EDIT: Happily, a NASCAR driver with roughly the same name as me was permanently banned for substance abuse, so that's all my name turns up in Google. I just hope that there's no close relation.

I think this has something to do with a busted chain of flags. Since Levitt won't acknowledge your wiping out the bandits/Darksiders, something in that chain of events probably just fell apart, so that it won't allow you to even try to enter the Loyalists' lair. I'm not sure what can be done to fix it, but at least you can still finish the game.

I also installed on my other machine (XP) and have the exact symptoms there also.
I have no idea what's going on with Dawdy, but I doubt it has anything to do with the problem at the Ruins.

Yep... this is a well-known bug, and the only way to fix it is to upgrade, then start a new game. The game can still be completed though.

It sounds like that's all you have left to do.

I personally don't know what the effects of using the editor are. Which one are you using, since I know there are several floating around right now? Contact the maker of the editor.

Okay... the cave worms just seemed like a break from continuity, as did the hellhounds. I suppose we can give them a chance.

I agree about the sliths and nephils, though. The only issue I had with them was that the sliths just seemed too big.

Pratchett, yes. Gaiman, no...

Good Omens is really the only place where Gaiman and Pratchett's styles overlapped. The rest of Gaiman's stuff (at least, what I've read of it) is considerably darker than anything I've seen from Pratchett.

OoC: Oh, it's been a long, strange trip. But let's get this show back on the road!

(For clarity, this post is starts right where Nazgul's left off)

IC:

Sequoia stared at the... thing. It looked human in form, but Sequoia could tell that everything human about it had passed on centuries ago. The Curator's eyes, deeply sunken into the skull, glowed a dull red, which cut through the darkness of the chamber. The druid could feel them searching for something, but he wasn't sure what, even after the Curator looked him straight in the eye.

When Sequoia had entered the chamber, he had just stood there, stunned by the grisly display embedded in the walls. Then, the sight of his companions trying to pry the forgotten treasures from the black ice had nearly put the anger back in control. Now, he could only stand and choke back a spell as he stared down Orloki's unholy creation.

None of the others said a word. Then Sequoia stepped forward and raised a half of his staff.

"Stop buying time for your master and let us pass!" the druid bellowed. The others looked at him with looks varying between surprise, fear, and "why did you do that?".

The Curator laughed. It was the kind of sound that made Sequoia want to puncture his own eardrums, something out of a dark crypt on a full moon night. Sequoia simply ground his teeth and stood his ground.

"Don't worry, you will see my master soon. And rest assured that he has pondered your eventual fates for quite some time. They will be... unique," the Curator said, his grotesque face trying its best to grin.

Filbert whimpered. Tuulentekija lowered his sword for a brief moment. Melora and Lisha just stared, while Edith and Cain were visibly smoldering with rage (Cain literally so). Sequoia shook with fury.

"Well then, if you're all prepared, we may continue to the summit, where my master waits for you," the Curator said, gesturing to the staircase.

This isn't an issue of second_icon properties, but rather te_cutaway_which_sheet/icon.

I think to get the effect you're looking for, just set te_cutaway_which_sheet and te_cutaway_which_icon to whatever the sheet and icon of the cage itself are (I'm talking about the normal cage, not the one you've dissected).
