Necromancy is bad... but I agree. The red button, combined with the bucket of water to throw on the portal, are excellent.

When you think about it, there'd be no safer spot to hide an important artifact. That is, if the artifact is rather resistant to fire. Otherwise, it's not such a good idea.

Did all of it actually disappear, or did the graphics just go away? And was the graphic being referred to a custom one?

No, we can't just pretend a faction never existed. It's just no longer under your control, Thralni. We will do with it what we see fit. If you want a dignified end for your faction, instead of letting us control it as an NPC faction, then write a dignified exit post for it. Heck, have the FNF engage the rakshasi and go out swinging.

But don't just tell us to ignore twenty or so posts of nephilim activity.

I think the gate leading into the Scree Caves from SPOILER can't be opened either. At least not until you can get out of the Scree Caves via Fort Emerald.

As the tree changes with the seasons, so must we change with the times. Those who cannot will perish at the first frost. - Teachings of the Order
------------------

Brother Clearwater stood at the gates of the Council Hall, welcoming the emissaries to another session. When all of them were inside, Clearwater paused outside of the doors for a moment, looking out at the city of Ivrel.

Satisfaction, that's what it was. Clearwater knew how easily everything could've collapsed after the Empire did, and not a day went by when he didn't give thanks for their good fortune.

Hopefully, this will last. Hopefully, Woodsmuir can be brought into the Order peacefully. Hopefully, the rest of Vantanas will be at peace. And hopefully, I can get some sleep for once.

He went inside, closing the heavy oaken doors with a satisfying thud.

------------------

Sister Quartz, relieved of the night watch duty by Brother Elkhelm, retired to her quarters in the starboard side of The Muse.

As she lay down on the sparse bunk that she had claimed, her mind wandered. The star had disappeared yesterday, but it still dominated her thoughts.

What was it? What on earth could produce such a sight? Was it even real?

Regardless, she knew that The Muse was within a day or two of hitting southern Valorim. They would land in the mountains east of Colchis, and set up some sort of base before exploring the surroundings. Hopefully, the star had nothing to do with the activity in Valorim.

------------------

Brother Yewbark sat at a rough pine table, on what looked like the top floor of the shack that "King" Accis called home.

"So, any plans to untie me?" he asked of the guards who stood on either side of him.

Before either guard stopped laughing, the one door into the room opened, revealing an frail-looking old man with a huge metal scepter. He smiled, the crooked kind of smile usually reserved for elders who tell bad jokes.

"Greetings, comrade. I am King Accis. Welcome to the new Woodsmuir Spire."

------------------

Brother Redscale stepped carefully through the foliage around the north end of Vantanas. He had a hundred and fifty priests, warriors, and archers at his back, ready to defend the locals against... well, whatever bandits decided to take advanage of the volcano.

Except something was wrong. If a volcano had actually exploded, they'd have run into some burnt jungle, or at least some smoke. Heck, lava flows wouldn't have surprised Redscale.

But there was nothing. The jungle was eerily quiet, and everything appeared to be intact.

Then, up out of the foliage loomed the ruin of a large building. Brother Redscale, as well as most of the others, instantly recognized it as an Order temple. It looked like it had been abandoned decades ago, though many of the walls were still intact.

It was an easy decision. Redscale turned back to his charges. "We camp here tonight! Scouts, fan out and check the surroundings!"

He didn't like the feeling of the jungle today. But at least this place was familiar.

------------------

Brother Wolfbane stepped lightly through the dense jungle. Not as concerned about the quiet of the foliage, he was content to finish his job and report back early. In fact, the sooner he could return to Krell, the better... he had a fiancee awaiting his return to Oakton. A recent initiate into the Order, he had leapt at this chance to prove himself worthy of his post.

His thoughts somewhere else, it took him a moment to hear the footsteps out in front of him. When he did, he stopped dead in his tracks, holding his staff out and ready. He would gladly smite an attacker, without any qualms.

Listening for a moment, it sounded like the sound's source was having some trouble negotiating the dense vegetation. He heard angry yells in a foreign tongue, probably curses. With a quiet word, Brother Wolfbane's staff glowed green, and the foliage in front of him parted slightly, enough to permit easy passage through the trees, but not enough to be easily seen.

He came to a clifftop, overlooking a substantial chunk of jungle. And below, in a gap in the trees, he saw the source of the yells, and almost screamed.

It was... a thing. A thing with blood-red robes, and a sinister feline face. This... thing... was no nephil, no nephar. Brother Wolfbane wasn't sure exactly what it was, but he could tell it was dangerous.

Scared stiff for a moment, he accidentally kicked a small rock over the edge of the cliff, which fell into the trees with a rustle. The thing heard, and turned to look up at the cliff, right at the space where Brother Wolfbane was standing.

He ran. He ran, too scared to scream. He ran, waving his staff behind him so that the foliage closed in on itself, shielding him from the thing's terrible, soulless eyes. He ran, the smell of burning foliage slowly falling behind him.

------------------

Brother Redscale sat with the terrified priest in a quiet corner of the abandoned temple, where a few trees had grown over the collapsed roof. Since he had come back, he hadn't uttered a single coherent word.

"What did you see?" Redscale asked patiently, for what felt like the seventeenth time.

"It... red... eyes!" Brother Wolfbane whimpered.

"What did it look like?"

"AIGH!" Wolfbane shrieked suddenly, clutching his head. Redscale, with a tired sigh, began chanting a spell of clarity, trying to focus the energy at the freaked-out scout. In a moment, Wolfbane was coherent again.

"It was... like a nephil, but not. It... eyes..." he said, quickly reverting to whimpering.

"What did it do?" the slith asked again, growing weary of this.

"It... fire. Eyes!" Wolfbane said, and promptly collapsed in a heap, crying softly.

Brother Redscale went back to the center of the abandoned temple, and grabbed a passing priest. "Make sure Wolfbane is cared for."

As the priest walked away, Redscale took another look around the abandoned temple. By some miracle, the temple's scrying pool still had some limited function, though it appeared that it could no longer receive any sort of message from other pools. So at least they could send word to Ivrel if something failed.

And then a stiff breeze filled the temple, with a fiery whorl of energy appearing beside the entrance. A... thing, perhaps an arm... extended out of the portal, followed by the rest of the demon.

Before anyone could respond, it said something which utterly bewildered the Order members.

"(untranslatable demonic curse)! No cats! Akrahd, no cats here!"

------------------

OoC: Okay, finally done.

Yes... I seem to remember this problem recurring in A1, A2, and A3, with the idiocy climaxing in BoA. In A2, they could at least follow you through a closed door if they'd had a turn to see you.

That said, I checked 1 and 2, since I'm nowhere near fluent in German, though 5 years of study should count for something.
