I protest the lack of English and German in this poll!!!

That said, I checked 1 and 2, since I'm nowhere near fluent in German, though 5 years of study should count for something.

Dude, "fluency" ain't exactly the measuring stick being used here. If it were, then nary a person would know any more than a single language. Hell, under those standards, one might argue that spy.there doesn't "speak" English, even though she's clearly functional with it.

So you speak Hebrew, English and some Arabic? I think second sentence says something about Italian, but I am not sure.

"I speak Hebrew, English, and a little Arabic. I want to learn Italian and Chinese."

I didn't know you were female, radix malorum est cupiditas. If everyone spoke Hebrew, problems like that would be avoided.

Ich kann "Wo ist meine Hose" auf vier Sprachen sagen, (English, Deutsch, Ivrit, Español) v'ani mavin arbeh Anglit v'Ivrit, but I'm fluent only in English.

A surprising amount of people speak nine languages, and an even more surprising amount speak no languages. :P

I myself am an uncultured American fool, meaning I speak only English. I am learning Spanish, and could carry on half of a conversation, but I'm not really fluent.

I'm also surprised that the first post in this topic wasn't TM in Japanese.

One great-grandparent was Macedonian and the other was Greek, it's kind of like when people speak to you combining two languages. Which, incidentally, is probably why I never learned either one fluently.

I'm an Irish technical-Jew; ergo, I speak English.

And a little French and Japanese, but not really.

I speak English, a little French, and a little Latin (with a bad French accent). At one time, I was going to try to learn both German and Greek, but somehow that never panned out.

I speak English, and I've studied Spanish for several years. Unfortunately it wasn't a very pleasant several years since it is my worst subject (if only everything could be as black and white as mathematics).

What the heck?
Even using a liberal definition of "speak" -- say, "can communicate using said language without herculean strain" -- there are very few people here who possibly speak more than three languages.

Whoever speaks four or six or nine languages, you've got some splainin' to do!

Actually no, I can't speak Italian. I can understand it fairly well and read it correctly, same with Portuguese, but I have a hard time coming up with sentences. Although I should say that am better at Italian than Portuguese.

Anyways, I'm fluent in Spanish, and I defend myself pretty well in English.

You mean we have to communicate when speaking? There go most languages. In fact, I think I've been reduced to grunts and vague gestures.

I speak Austrlian-English natively. I took French at school (only because it was compulsory), but have forgotten it. Also, listening to Rammstein has taught me a couple of German words.

I'm an uncultured boring American sod in the fact that I speak only English and "partial" French.

For some odd reason, english isn't included there. any way:
English
Hebrew (going to do GCSE)
French
Italian (see Hebrew brackets)
and I'm going to start learning Magyar(hungarian) in preparation to go to the Sziget music festival to see Franz Ferdinand and Radiohead and many other magically amazing artists. And I'm 12.

English, Dutch, and a bit of French and German. Not so much.

There are 400 words in the dictionary that begin with "self" and only 8 that begin with "fellow".
