I am currently exclusively English, which was not on the list for the second question in the poll, but I hope to learn Spanish this summer. It should be fun, so it should.

Helvetia.

Wrong topic.

 Now where is that Swiss connection?

Only in my mind. My reasoning was something like Helvetia --> Helvetica --> Italics --> Italians.

I speak several English dialects, but can only understand two of them.

I am also trying to establish a method of communicating with inanimate objects. It is not going well now, but I may be expecting too much of them.

I'm also interested in learning Suomi and Norsk, but that's only because Scandinavia produces such great music.

Even using a liberal definition of "speak" -- say, "can communicate using said language without herculean strain" -- there are very few people here who possibly speak more than three languages.

Whoever speaks four or six or nine languages, you've got some splainin' to do!

Well, nobody actually denoted what was meant with "speak," because technically I can speak all those languages. However, it would take me an hour to say a Latin or ancient Greek sentence without any mistakes. It would take me five minutes to come up with the right words and conjugation of these words in both French and German. The rest are easier (Hebrew, Dutch and English).

They make great listeners, though. (And Dikiyoba has never had an inanimate object break into uproarious laughter while Dikiyoba was yelling at it angrily. People, on the other hand...)

This computer frequently communicates with me.
It pretends that there are many many people inside it, but there is not enough space.

I didn't put English on because of the fact that everyone on these boards speaks english, so it would be rather pointless.

Then the questions should not be how many languages do you speak, but "how many languages do you speak besides English?" and the second one should be "What other languages do you speak besides English?".
87% (40 votes) have chosen "other", my guess is that they meant "English".
Greetings.

Often it's easier to write in a certain language than it is to speak the language. So just because people here type in English doesn't necessarily mean they can speak English.

And its even easier to read a language than to write in it. Not sure how this applies to the discussion, but I thought I'd throw it out.
