Let's see here... Zelda: Link's Awakening, Oracle of Seasons/Ages... and Yoshi's Story. Those are really the ones that I can call favorites. Meh, half of those series... You know, I'm familiar with that kind of joke... but only when it has a funny context. That one came out of the blue. As a conossieur of comedy, I deem the joke unacceptable in its usage here. Most of the debate is over human cloning, and the numerous groups trying to make it look like the amendment allows it. And a lot of it is about Jim Talent trying to get his sorry self re-elected... his "faith and moral values" platform apparently prevents him from reading the actual amendment, because he opposes it on the grounds that cloning is immoral. Another aspect of it is that some of us in Missouri want the state to have the chance at doing serious research. Washington University in St. Louis in particular, which has an incredibly prominent (read: full of itself) medical school... But basically, you can't go anywhere without seeing ads for it now. To add to the insanity (and because it's kinda funny), here's an opposition site, one which has had a lot of media time lately: www.2Tricky.org. Yes, they actually did that. quote:... :P -------------------- Gamble with Gaea, and she eats your dice. I hate undead. I really, really, really, really hate undead. With a passion. quote:I go to a university where tuition tops out at about $47,000 per academic year. THAT is where competition gets you. Our school is obsessed with getting back into the top 10 colleges in the U.S., and it just means more tuition increases, more insane policies, more bloody-minded construction destroying our beautiful campus in the name of our 'academic future' (when the buildings in question won't be complete until we graduate). I don't want competition, I want education. Gah. I can't see privatization actually doing anything positive for education, unless you count further intellectual stratification of our country as a good thing. Personally, I don't. (For the record, the only reason that I can afford this university is because my dad works at the nearby hospital, and thus is technically on faculty for the med school. Free ride!) quote:*snicker* 'Leggo my Eggo... :D -------------------- Gamble with Gaea, and she eats your dice. I hate undead. I really, really, really, really hate undead. With a passion. Alright, everyone. Now that we've seen ballot initiatives from the west coast of the US, here's something straight out of the heartland. The issue at hand is stem cell research, which has had a lot of political grandstanding surrounding it. Given that, I'll limit the endorsements section. quote:The full text is here. Meh, Libertarianism has its appeals to me, but it contains too many paranoid nutcases for me to really feel supportive. I like the idea of being fiscally conservative while socially liberal... but there's just some stuff I can't agree with. For instance, the libertarian group on my campus came to one of my classes last year, and they tried to advance an argument for the privatization of all education. Stuff like that... I just can't agree with it. Tax breaks won't solve everything, and the idea of cutting back on everything but the army sounds way too much like a feudal system... or the standard 'petty warlord' model. quote:I'm actually going to side with Alorael on this one.
