I have a hard time thinking about that without having it devalue my estimation of kindness... not sure why. I just like thinking that it's something beyond psychology... even though I see the logic to the explanation.

Meh. In my mind, humanity is beyond definitions... which makes arguing that point incredibly difficult.

For reference, here is the last time that this sort of discussion was attempted, by a younger, more noobish me. Predictably, I got smited by TM. So, to prove the cyclic nature of history, I feel that I must continue the smiting.

Humans are naturally human. Variability is the only inherent feature of our nature.

Let's see....

1) Intelligence. As long as you've got enough skill to cast the spell, I'd rather invest in the stat that can increase mental resistances and give more SP.

2) Stun resistance, actually. That sort of thing can be rather devastating. But a mere 1% in either will do basically nothing.

3) Dexterity for the archer, Strength for the melee-er. Seems straightforward to me.

4) Nature Lore, 'cause I'm a hippie. That, and I like avoiding fights and digging up strange things.

Pardon me for reading this as a flaming load of bovine leavings... it's much better to teach the kids being bullied how to fight back, or at least take it in stride.

I'd rather make a big chunk of the population more assertive than make a few individuals more passive.

EDIT: I missed the reference completely.

I mean, there's many more reasons to disapprove of it than sheer practicality. :P

On the subject of bullying... I think that teachers should be on alert to prevent it. If parents have to get involved, so be it (regardless of how much that sort of thing can embarass a kid). My two cents...

Right... so they expand, hire more people at the same unliveable pay rates, and perpetuate the oppression inherent in the system.

I fail to see your point. Greed is not always good.

Are you talking to me? I made it very clear that the economy is not a concern for the government at all. Protection is. I also think your forgetting that this is an economic discussion, not one on how to live a happy life. As for the word 'strength,' I don't use that word, I use the word strong. I use it so that I don't have to keep defining someone who has what it takes to be successful in every single one of my posts.

You keep equating success in life with monetary success, though. That's more bothersome to me.

Heck, the games don't even have to be supervised... just make sure the school nurse is well-trained.

It's insane, that's what it is. I remember the wonderful feeling of hitting the gravel after jumping/falling off a piece of arsenic-treated playground equipment... it was fun. It was childhood. Woodchips were just the beginning... this crazy "you can't hurt yourself no matter how hard you try" rubber that I'm seeing in so many playgrounds now just has to go away.

Part of being a kid is learning what you can and can't physically get away with. I was deeply disturbed when I found that my elementary school's playground had been replaced by some new, safe, plastic monstrosities.

Give me splinters and gravel any day!

I find myself voting no, even though I'm not completely certain what all the measure entails.

But basically... *sigh*... I'm not really all that fiscally conservative. At least not when the intention of said spending is completely undefined.

I personally prefer this really basic model:

-Fighter (usually poles)
-Thief/rogue/archer (sword)
-Mage
-Priest

But I usually spruce it up a bit... make the races interesting (i.e.: slith priest, nephil mage, keep the others human). It's also fun to give the rogue some basic mage skill and give the fighter some basic priest spells.

Oh, and there's a corpse in a barrier-blocked tunnel over in Grah-Hoth's territory, I believe. It's supposed to be the same tunnel that takes you from Fort Haledon to the Ziggurat in A2, I believe. Except that the elevation changes are inconsistent...

I also seem to recall a mysterious corpse found outdoors.
