You are right. How many languages are you familiar with?

Be careful with a word, as you would with a sword,
For it too has the power to kill.
However well placed word, unlike a well placed sword,
Can also have the power to heal.

Eh, I had a senior moment. It HAS been some years now since I had or used Russian.

P.S. EDIT: It still comes in handy enough for those Jamie Lee Curtis moments when dating, for those familiar with A Fish Called Wanda.

Kel, don't tell me to shut up in Latin. If I were truly common and unschooled like you claim, I would not understand what you said, now would I? :P

I happen to know a few common words and phrases in Russian, because I tried to teach it to myself once. I have some familiarity with Spanish, Latin, Greek, German, and Polish, although I can speak none particularly well.

Why do people persist in using the word "kosher" in that context? That's not what it means.

English speakers have a long and rich history of borrowing words from other languages, mangling them, and using them until they no longer have any semblence of their original meaning. It no longer matters what something used to mean, only what it means now. You dig?

Edit : Not precisely a misspelling, but still, an error in spelling.

What Salmon said. Really, "kosher" as commonly used in English has a very similar meaning to the original; it's just been generalized and is no longer specific to Jewish law. As religious-to-secular word-borrowings go, this one is pretty inocuous.

I'm sure it got misfiled with all the appropriated Yiddish and nobody noticed that some Hebrew slipped in until it was too late.

Well, seeing as the CoC was written by the jews in their attempts to control the media, I don't really understand how I'm warping the words original meaning in the first place.

Actually, the CoC was written by several people, who may or may not have been Jewish. I fail to see the connection, am insulted by your contribution to this thread, and will hopefully be able to one day stop wondering how ideas such as yours continue in society today.

We, as a society, stopped shouting "FIRE!!!" where there was none quite a while ago, isn't it time you stopped as well?

I think that's a Protocols of the Elders of Zion joke. It is not, to use the word of the day, kosher by the CoC. It's not very unkosher, and I'd let it slide if it were actually funny, but it's not.

—Alorael, who now has to worry about the inevitable showdown between the Elders of Zion and the Cult of White. Implants versus control of the media, GC2 versus matzah baked with the blood of infants... It will truly be an epic battle.

You know, I'm familiar with that kind of joke... but only when it has a funny context. That one came out of the blue. As a conossieur of comedy, I deem the joke unacceptable in its usage here.

Just a word of advice: don't drink the well water.

Seriously, I could't resist. Ethnic jokes are not usually my style, and I probably won't make more unless you ask for it. The way I see it, you were asking for that one by taking the discussion in that direction. I mean really, you know what meant in the first place, you just wanted to have a couple of extra posts for the day.
