The Ultimate "Favourite Game" Poll in General

Amend that to "some people" and you're dead-on. Some people think that VoDT, ZKR, and DWtD are all horrible. Others seem to think that they're far better than anything else that has come out yet. Most fall between the two. I liked VoDT and ASR, and I thought that ZKR was lacking but not too bad, and I just never bothered to finish DWtD because it just didn't grab my attention.

This presents an interesting situation with the Blades games in this poll, though: the "demo" for BoE and BoA is substantially different from the full version, although I don't see any effects of that, which may be interesting in itself.

You might want to check the antecedent to that pronoun: "that" refers to the if-then in the previous sentence, which was a statement about the nature of the position of a teacher, not about the quality or necessity of standardized tests.

Your poor reading comprehension is not equal to a problem with my diction.

I guess I could do that.

And then I could place all the items again, one by one, and see what the problem is or if there even is a problem.

I have an e-mail out to Jeff, though, and it'll be interesting to see if he actually sends me back a real response.

EDIT: Uh, no, this is a weird error. Really, really weird. I just did that and it didn't fix the problem. And there are other strange effects that are showing up that can't possibly be due to anything that I can think of. So yeah, I think I'm going to need Jeff's help on this one.

It has been brought to my attention that there is an obscure type of error in v1.0.6 of Bahssikava. It shows up differently on Macs and PCs, as an Unhandled Exception on the latter but with the following error message on the former: "Error: Tried to access item number , which is out of range." It shows up consistently when entering Mount Galthrax (L3), and as far as I can tell, it makes this version of the scenario unfinishable.

However, since it is so vague, I have no idea what the problem is. The scripts are fine — Alint gives no errors, and I didn't change them from v1.0.5 (which didn't have this error) to v1.0.6. I did add a few items all over Bahs, but I've combed over the town and haven't found any obvious problems.

Does anyone have any idea what could be causing this? I'd hate to have to go back to v1.0.5, but unless I can figure this out, I'll have to.

What exactly are you trying to do? I think all you have to do is convert your graphics to BMP files (and I think you can do this just by choosing "Save As..." in Appleworks), but I'm not clear on exactly what you're doing.

Oh wait, was that "no" a "now"? Then yes, you need to convert them to BMPs.

There are any number of things that could be going wrong with the door script. The first one I'd check is that the right flag is getting set. Put a special encounter right before that calls a simple print_num(get_flag(whatever_x,whatever_y)) to make sure that it's actually getting set.

You might want to check out the Designer FAQ and the Comprehensive Links for additional help beyond what the manual will tell you. And the best way to learn to script is by looking at examples in other scenarios, rather than reading the manual (after getting the bare-bones basics under your belt).

If you have a standardized test at the end that is supposed to measure how much you learned, your teachers are going to be teaching for the test. That's just how it is.

That's like believing the ACT people when they tell you that the ACT is more comprehensive than the SAT. It's just a different test.

EDIT: This kind of makes me want to go into my standardized testing rant, but I'll hold off unless the conversation actually steers that way.

Not in the Trilogy, but in BoA, several South Park characters show up in ASR in Zaskiva. Well-known, but worth mentioning.

I'd like it to be noted that I've caught up around 700 or 800 posts to Alorael. He was at about 6200 or 6300 when I started. At this rate, I will catch him in about eight or nine years when we both have more than 25000 posts.

If you want flashy graphics and music, you may be playing games from the wrong company. Jeff has tossed music entirely overboard and has no real way of creating any at this point, short of hiring an entirely new person. Also, GF's graphics were hardly spectacular by NWN or WoW standards, so I don't think that shows much of anything.

Gameplay is what SW is known for, and that's what I hope Jeff sticks with in A4.

EDIT: I think that A4's graphics will look a lot like GF's graphics, for what that's worth.
