Finish this statement. Or, come up with one of your own, I don't really care. What do you like best about the Intarwheb?

Personally, I like having information about almost anyone or anything in the world at my disposal.

The endless babble and something to do when it's wet outside.

Despite the common misconception, the internet is actually under private ownership.

Well, and the endless amount of information. The latter you could find somewhere else though, remember libraries and the magical devices called books.

The Internet is the untimate recourse for anyone who has a computer. It's almost magical how we can conjure up so much information with a few clicks that it could never hope to fit on any hard drive. I mean, man, conversation passed around the world by moving electrons. Instantly. That's pretty cool.

The best thing about the internet is it's ability to widen our perceptions.

The internet is what has allowed five people from all over the world (in this case Germany, Austria and California) to meet online, make a fantasy world, and gather here in Landshut for a weekend.

It's not the best the internet has done, but it's a plus point. :)

...that 90% of its users have not a clue what the difference between the world wide web and the actual internet is. 95% do not know the difference between a hacker and a cracker.

You use the world wide web when you use your browser.

You use the internet when you connect yourself to a computer or server through TCP/IP or IPX.

A hacker creates, a cracker breaks. Hackers created the web, our softwares and our OS:s. Crackers stole your credit card number, your forum account and your passwords.

A hacker and a cracker are the same thing, actually.

Also, your definitions of the World Wide Web and the Internet are not very clear. The World Wide Web is the system of all the web pages in the world. The Internet is the network that allows a person to view web pages in the World Wide Web.

Shades of yellow nothing more ^. BTW the best thing about the Internet is, how it's killed the library. I for one have never used a book to do a report or any research. The sooner schools eliminate libraries the better. If it's not online it doesn't exist.

Until everything is available in text online, libraries have a place. Articles are now just as easy to get online as in hard copy most of the time, but online books are still relatively rare.

—Alorael, who can't read massive amounts of text for prolonged periods of time on a computer monitor. ("Ha!" you say. Well, forum browsing is different.) And it's much easier to curl up on the couch with a book than with a computer, even a laptop.
