Since this is a question about the editor, it should be in the editor forum, but eh. You might want to start by reading the Designer FAQ. It has a number of answers and links that you may find useful. EDIT: You may also want to wander through the links on that site, particularly the one to the Cookbook. And the best way to learn how to make scenarios is to look at the ones that have already been made and see what they consist of. 1. Did you have the graphic set to the right size (cr_small_or_large_template)? This seems like the most likely culprit. -------------------- Arancaytar: Every time you ask people to compare TM and Kel, you endanger the poor, fluffy kittens. Smoo: Get ready to face the walls! No. I think this is kind of like the reason that your chance of flipping a coin and getting heads is always 50%, even if you've just flipped the coin and gotten heads 4 times in a row, despite the fact that before you did it, your chance of getting heads 5 times in a row is much smaller than 50%. I don't make graphics, but my assumption is that you've screwed up something about the size of the sheet. If you e-mail me the graphic, I could tell you precisely, but it's probably that you have some extra white space on the left that you don't realize is there or something. -------------------- Arancaytar: Every time you ask people to compare TM and Kel, you endanger the poor, fluffy kittens. Wait, how did the no-switchers get anything but $50,000? You start out by knowing that you got 50K. If you don't switch, you should invariably get 50K. EDIT: The correct analysis is this: 50 switchers get 25K. 50 switchers get 100K. 100 non-switchers get 50K. But that's the thing: if you do this an infinite number of times, you're still not going to know, on any given iteration, whether the dollar amounts in the envelopes is 25K and 50K or 50K and 100K. I'm not sure if I can explain this clearly. But the key here is that in order to have exactly the same situation a second time, you have to let the dollar amount in either envelope stay variable. That is, you see the 50K the first time, trade envelopes, and get 25K. The second time, when you see the 50K and trade envelopes, you could get 100K. That's why it's not the same. -------------------- Arancaytar: Every time you ask people to compare TM and Kel, you endanger the poor, fluffy kittens. The reason is that we don't know how much money is at stake. Stareye's analysis lets the dollar values be $25,000, $50,000, or $100,000. Thuryl's lets the dollar values only be $25,000 or $50,000. -------------------- Arancaytar: Every time you ask people to compare TM and Kel, you endanger the poor, fluffy kittens. Hmm. Verelor, you may not be aware of this, but Alorael is a moderator, and so am I. He is quite right about the profanity, and swearing directly at him is not a very bright idea. Consider yourself warned that if you do this again you may be banned. This has been an interesting topic. Let's not let it fall apart now. You know, Vantanas sounds like an interesting setting for A4. Anyone want to toss out ideas about which continent it should be set on? -------------------- Arancaytar: Every time you ask people to compare TM and Kel, you endanger the poor, fluffy kittens. Sea battles sound kind of cool. You could have an outdoor combat town — er, set_out_fight_town_loaded, in BoA terms — that had two ship floors on either side of the town with bridges in between. It wouldn't even require any engine modification, and it probably could be done in BoA. -------------------- Arancaytar: Every time you ask people to compare TM and Kel, you endanger the poor, fluffy kittens. 27. Eh, perhaps. This could be incorporated into the character abilities to make abilities useful. 28. (Not everyone agrees about multiple endings, btw.) Maybe. I can't see this happening in a way that I would like, but it's not inconceivable that it could. 29. Maybe do quests for some sort of organization, like the Scimitar in A1 or the Anama in A3. But actually earning ranks might be interesting, like gaining different levels of clearance in A2. Putting that all together might work. But I can't see actually building a fort or becoming some sort of military commander. That just seems un-Avernum. 30. Maybe, but I'm not sure how. 31. I'm with Alorael on this one. quote:Generally, wouldn't you expect someone to say no to sh**? :P [ Thursday, June 23, 2005 13:44: Message edited by: Manhood Typing Kelandon ] -------------------- Arancaytar: Every time you ask people to compare TM and Kel, you endanger the poor, fluffy kittens. quote:For whom? In practical terms, fun cannot be measured absolutely. What's fun for you may not be fun for me, and vice-versa. I'm not against Geneforgizing Avernum because I want to keep them separate; I'm against it because I found Geneforge less fun than Avernum. And you'd be hard pressed to verify the statement that most people agree with you, not because you're wrong, but because you have no way of knowing that. quote:A lot of people here don't agree with that, though.
