Hidden secrets in signatures. in General

In another forum not long ago, i heard of a few signatures that when flipped or turned upside down reveal certain hidden words that could have relative meaning to the person. For example, here is a fragment of a signature by J.R.R Tolkien: (see if you can decipher the word)

IMAGE(http://www.tolkienet.com/rivendell/forum2/forum/data/Talkien/200482919411_Tolkien%20signature.jpg)

In this next picture if you look close enough you can see that you can see two words in his signature that directly relate to him, Lord and Rings . Also true to this idea is the signature of Andy Serkis, of which when flipped seems to contain the word Gollum . (Andy Serkis played the role of Gollum in the trilogy)

IMAGE(http://www.tolkienet.com/rivendell/forum2/forum/data/Talkien/20041017184023_Andy-Serkis-Gollum.jpg)

So what do you think? Is it perhaps a deliberate thing or strangely coincidental? I would love to do something like this to my signature if i could. The strangest thing about these signatures is that the words contained with in actually have real relevance to the person, so it would be quite odd if it wasn't a deliberate thing.

Here's the link if anyone wants to see the original thread.

Just one more for the road, Bruce Lee's signature seeming to display the words Kung Fu:

But if you're not seeing this image with your eyes, how are you seeing it in your mind? Without being able to see a dog in your mind as though it was right infront of you, how else could you know what it looks like without thinking words?

I close my eyes and try to visualise a tree. I know what a tree looks like, and with my eyes i physically see no more than black. But my mind knows what it looks like because i'm thinking words that form an image of what i want. An image out of words.

Then again maybe this is a just a habit some people develop that they can't break out of. Okay i need a word for this.

imagviate - to see an image with your mind, but it is an image. (If there is a word for this i don't know.)

I can't see a dog in my mind like i see one in front of me. But when i dream, i can see this dog without the use of words. Is this what it's like to imagviate?

I've also heard alot of people refer imaginatoin to dreaming, so maybe it does have some kind of connection.

How do you perceive what you imagine? Some time ago i had this thought and discussed it with my friends, and when it came back to me i decided to put this question to you all.

As i can't really see how other people imagine things, i've often thought, do you actually see images of things when you imagine them? Say for example i was imagining a boy bouncing a ball, when i close my eyes do i physically see an image of this boy? Or am i rather describing it to myself with words?

After asking my friends about this most of them said that they physically saw an image when they imagined something with their eyes closed. For me though i find that i describe the image as i would see it, but don't actually sight anything. What i imagine is processed in my mind through words, as though i'm speaking the description in my mind. I do though know what it would look like since the descriptions fairly detailed.

So what do you see when you imagine things with your eyes closed? Do you physically see an image? Or do you see an image or idea through words?

My school work experience program was on last june for me, and i had a pretty good time of it. After the difficulty of tyring to find a theatre i gave in to going to the sbs media building. I was in radio and got to set up my own little report and review on a portuguese song and then play it live on the show. It was good times, but not something i'd want as a career.

Work experience i've learned is a bit of a mixed bag. It could surprise you, but you seem pretty happy about where you're going. You'll be fine :D

So basically what i'm seeing from your responses is that everyone is just stupid, in some way. And Thuryl is some kind of god?

But i agree that everyone is stupid, at least some point in their lives. Afterall, we're all born stupid.

My theory on stupid people. in General

After reading some old msn conversations from when i was in my ignorant 13 year old faze i came up with this theory about people who go through this 'stupid' stage. They just don't know what they're saying. Reading back at a few of the things i'd said long ago i realised, from my prespective now how stupid some things sound.

Many people i know say Jessica Simpson is stupid only because that's how she's lived her whole life, and that's the only way of acting she's comfortable with. But i think some people just can't help being stupid. They honestly have no idea what they're saying sounds like. Only some people grow out of it, and others don't. It's just this thought that's made me understand people going through the 'stupid' faze better. Any thoughts?

One of my later ones on my keyboard. It was a little freaked out when it met the mouse though.

Just a note about a prequel, with the name it seems unlikely. If he's really going to call it 'Avernum 4' then it will probably be a follow up, otherwise it would have been 'Before Avernum' or something.

How to raise money? in General
Warrior
Member # 3804

Really the best way to raise the money is to get a casual job somewhere small. I don't know about where you are if you can, but it would be the quickest less self-sacrificial way to get the money.

If a job's not an option then there are a few things you could do, but it probably wouldn't raise all the money.

+ Garage sale: If you can find a few things that you're willing to part with. Maybe some old toys or books. You could even ask your parents if they had any old things they'd be willing to donate to the cause.

+ Busking: This one's really difficult. For the most part you need to have some kind of talent at something, singing, playing an instrument, magic tricks etc. Something that'll entertain, and get you some money for it (though granted you might not get enough money for it to be woth the effort.)

+ Walk the neighbourhood dogs: Dodgy. But if you like dogs then i guess that could be a good thing. Just pass a few flyers around in mailboxes to do the trick.

+ Radio competitions: This one's also a bit far fetched, but possible. Radios almost always have quick-cash type competitions that are actually possible to win. If you can get through the phonelines.

+ Sign up to be an extra: for an add or movie. I don't know if they have them in your country, but it's possible to get quick cash fast.

+ Surveys: If you can get your hands on actual paper surveys. Internet surveys i hear are risky, but my sister actually won $100 once. (i wouldn't reccommend them)As for paper surveys, just go through about 150 pages and you'll get about $20.

I can't think of anything else, but most of these ideas are really quite dodgy. The best advice i could give you as a working 15 year old myself is to get a casual job. If not holiday work would be best if possible.

quote:
The Road not taken (Robert Frost)

Two roads diverged in a yellow wood,
And sorry I could not travel both
And be one traveler, long I stood
And looked down one as far as I could
To where it bent in the undergrowth;
Then took the other, as just as fair,
And having perhaps the better claim,
Because it was grassy and wanted wear;
Though as for that the passing there
Had worn them really about the same,
And both that morning equally lay
In leaves no step had trodden black.
Oh, I kept the first for another day!
Yet knowing how way leads on to way,
I doubted if I should ever come back.
I shall be telling this with a sigh
Somewhere ages and ages hence:
Two roads diverged in a wood, and I-
I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference.
I think i've just fallen in love with this poem, thank you. Definitely choosing this one for english class next time.

but damn, he looks hot.
I think i know who this is, but they will remain unknown for many good reasons!

Rosy that's quite an impressive effort for an 11 year old it was thoroughly entertaining the whole way through. On the other had i had a bit of a hard time getting through 'The Wasteland, i don`t have much patience for really long poems unless i'm really ineterested in a topic or it rivets me from the beginning so i can't honestly tell how much i'd like it.

Stughalf your poem was great too, i really felt pity for the character of the poem. It reminded me alot of soemthing you might read in a good fantasy book. Have you ever thought of maybe publishing this online? Check out Writers' Window if anyone's interested, you'd be surprised with what you can find there sometimes.

I find that sometimes i love to delve into poetry ever so often, reading those of my friends and writing a few myself if anything comes to me. It`s only now that i`ve noticed how little i know of other poetry outside my little circle, and i`d like to know what poetry you might read or even write sometimes.

What are your favourites? Have you written anything? Feel free to share anyones you like..or hate. :P (or written, that would be nice.)

Hahaha ah yes, icq the root of all evil. Who could forget the days of 97884230. I guess there could be some benefit in letting the government name you:

+ the phonebook would look like the matrix, getting rid of most stupid phone salespeople,

+ you could pronounce everyone's names,

+ you could spin straw into gold and steal the queen's unborn child.

I guess the government isn't so bad afterall.
