I do. I suppose I might as well post them now, while I still can. This one's from just before we left for the party. I was admiring the fine bra-stuffing job. And this one is from at the party, featuring my friends Greg (pumpkin) and Tim (Pope) and me, looking not quite all there. -------------------- Stughalf "Delusion arises from anger. Perhaps my hair could stand to be just a bit shorter, but I like it this way, for the most part. I ordinarily keep it mostly under wraps under my hat, at any rate. It curls out from around the edges of the hat in a manner that I find attractive. When I allow it to get this long, I rarely go without my hat except when intentionally trying to look wild, as in this situation. Since I have a rather small head, coupled with a body of medium height and build, a reasonable amount of hair allows me to appear somewhat better-proportioned than I am. Here's a photo of my friend Andrew and I (Andrew was in that other picture I posted of myself) from the Halloween party we went to Saturday night. For some odd reason, SW has seemingly decided not to list or host several scenarios, including Death at Chapman's and both utility scenarios. Unsurprising, really, considering Linda Strout's well-documented incompetence at maintaining the SW scenario database. -------------------- Stughalf "Delusion arises from anger. I've got a friend here that has succumbed to peer pressure and will be dressing in drag. He'll make a fine girl. Since I could never make a pretty girl, I'll be dressing up as a generic tribesman, complete with decorated loincloth, face paint designs all over my face and chest, and a spear. Of course, though, there won't be any trick-or-treating in store, just party hopping. -------------------- Stughalf "Delusion arises from anger. The mind is bewildered by delusion. No. If it was, you might have received a negative review. I finished another poem for my class two nights ago. I suppose I'll post it now that the topic has been revived. "Hope: The Great Disappearing Act" Flat-footed, I clomp along a gravel path. There is direction but no purpose in this dogged tread On a walk that serves no function. Above my bowed head sits a box once filled with something gelatinous, raw and alive, but long since frozen into crystal, numb and yet beauteous. Only blind particles of information can survive there, and with two I confer- one tells me that you were here The other paints an image of you. A velvet top hat rests easily on a head festooned with bounteous flaxen curls Clad in silky garments of lime green A wide smiling mouth of milky pearls. Watching you, every last forgotten ache comes to me in a rush, compelling me to rest my tired limbs, while my lips seek out a familiar, gentle glassy caress. It is in this attitude that I am encountered most often, by passerby that unkindly remark that I lost you in a forty-ounce bottle and left you drowning in the dark. But you were lost to me long before first I felt this blissfulness overwhelm my eyes And indulging it, brought forth the fog from which I fashioned for my Hopelessness a hazy disguise. -------------------- Stughalf "Delusion arises from anger. The mind is bewildered by delusion. Reasoning is destroyed when the mind is bewildered. One falls down when reasoning is destroyed."- The Bhagavad Gita. He was certainly still an active poster when I showed up in October '03. He probably disappeared around last New Year's Day. EDIT: Does someone have a link to the archives for General? I'm pretty sure the Alien Blade is tops, although it's a two-handed weapon and can't be used with a shield. Actually, come to think of it, the God Sword in Kel's HLPM is easily the best. The death Aran referred to wasn't anyone on SW, StD. It was a woman on the Santharia boards. This is an odd situation. It reminds me a bit of when X disappeared suddenly, after being an extremely active member for two years or so. He never came back. I fear the worst, really, especially since he was clearly no spring chicken. As for BSC, he hasn't been gone awfully long, but it's still rather troubling. Here's to hoping he turns up soon. -------------------- Stughalf "Delusion arises from anger. The mind is bewildered by delusion. Reasoning is destroyed when the mind is bewildered. I've played through and enjoyed nearly every Vogel game I've given a try. I agree with Kel- although the games might not be so solid plotwise, there's still something there that I can't exactly explain that draws me in and keeps me interested. Granted, I prefer games like Fallout, but Jeff's shortcomings as a programmer don't really hurt my experience as a player. -------------------- Stughalf "Delusion arises from anger. There's also the issue of whether an individual is better "on paper" or in person. Although I prefer conversing in person and absorbing all of the many subtle details involved, online forums have a different sort of attraction for me. I'm not an awfully fast thinker, but I consider myself to be a good thinker when given the time. The lack of real time constraints on message boards allows one to really think through a statement and formulate it to perfection, if one wishes to do so. I'm not always so concerned with acheiving that level of elegance, but the option is always there. I'm more articulate here than I am on AIM or in person. My humor is somewhat more refined, I swear far less often, and I'm much less tolerant of stupidity than I am in "real life" conversations. That said, though, I'm not a huge fan of the anonymity aspect of a message board. Until recently, the need to obtain a picture of myself to post online was quite a pressing concern. My real name, real e-mail address, and real location are all displayed in my profile. Of course, I am twenty years old, and understand that those members that are minors might be justified in holding back a bit on the personal information they give out. All the same, though, those that choose to remain nearly anonymous around here, with skeleton profiles and the like, annoy me somewhat. It's their right, of course, but they're not the sort of people I think I'd enjoy spending time with. I'm not much of a chap for discretion, in person or on the internet. I'll admit my shortcomings nearly as willingly as I'll publicize my successes. When I'm feeling fuzzy-headed after three straight nights of drinking, like I am today, I'll freely admit the fact that I have little sense and less will power. And when and if I ever get some action, I won't waste any time posting the fact, along with whatever details that don't violate the CoC, in this forum. Of course, the full and detailed version will always be available at Desp. -------------------- Stughalf "Delusion arises from anger. The mind is bewildered by delusion. Freeware strategy games? I found one the other day called Battle For Wesnoth that seems decent. It's open source as well. It's still in development, although version 0.8.5, the one I've been using, seems quite stable. Not exactly. I outgrew the body of the costume long ago, but the head, paws, and nose mask still fit. I wear these elements of the costume with pants and a long-sleeve shirt, and I've got a pretty nice anthropomorphic fox costume. -------------------- Stughalf "Delusion arises from anger. I never wore a costume to school in high school, as my school had an exceedingly strict policy on wearing costumes in class and would send anyone home who was the slightest bit non-compliant. I haven't gone trick-or-treating since something like sixth grade. In my high school years I would put on my beloved fox costume (a relic from third grade) and scare children while handing out candy to them at my door. My past two years here at college I've dressed up in the same old fox costume and gone with my friends to lame "parties" organized by University organizations. This year, however, we plan to entirely avoid such events, and instead find a decent party where we can actually get plastered and enjoy ourselves. I have no idea as to what my costume will consist of this year, but I suppose I'll figure it out in a few days. I'm taking a poetry writing class this semester, and I've written two poems for it so far. The second one I wrote is rife with blatant, uncorrected mistakes, but this one is passably refined. Unfortunately, it's also horribly convoluted. Apologies in advance. "Elephants Do Remember" We walk amongst the pillars All wrinkled leather and brute sinews And gaze at the behemoths that sit above Rheumy eyes offering no clues. A dusty mind lies somewhere Within a casing of gristly bone Safe from greedy, acquisitive paws The contents reserved for its owner alone. A menagerie of shimmering beings Might swirl within its remote interior Entrapped by bars of rusted iron His placidity untouched by their furor. Rubbing fevered eyes, we restore Ourselves once more into lucidity And face the hateful, jealous beast Surely sneering at thwarted curiosity. But in the act of turning away A touch at the arm arrests me A hollow appendage the thing offers forth I accept it, peer within - and see. The battered lump letting its life out With every tortured breath, sinking into a morass Eyes meeting mine from the face full of tears and rents A mother’s eyes, tender to the last. Too much, and I break away to meet A pair not unlike those staring from the slime Carrying with them All the grief and sorrow of a lifetime. Still shaken, I make haste to depart But I am forestalled once more by my sense Of a question that must be answered Yes, I do believe in elephants. -------------------- Stughalf "Delusion arises from anger. The mind is bewildered by delusion. Reasoning is destroyed when the mind is bewildered. One falls down when reasoning is destroyed."- The Bhagavad Gita.
