IC : Akhtar heard Kenthred report Eurand's death. That was bad, he knew him a little and knowing that his death was a human's work wasn't something he was confortable with. Then he heard explanations and knew he was going to have to convince the other of his innocence. He quickly started a list of what he should tell : "Have you ever killed someone?" The answer is yes, I was just defending himself but still... "Have you ever done a blood eagle?" Again, the answer is yes, I practised on small mammals. Yes will be a sufficent answer, no need to be seen as cruel. "Did you enjoy killing?" I don't know, I really don't know. There was something great in the way the eyes were looking through me, a sensation of power and also, a subtle impression of fear. But if I am asked I will answer that I don't know, I am not good enough with words to make me understood. Akhtar started patting Anee's head. "Who do you think did it?" I don't know. I need to think about it. It could be the insane man's job or Terril's. The later didn't come back. I doubt he had time to do it when he made Rey move but I don't know. It could also be Chadussid or Kethren way to bring dissension in the group. I will try to think of other answers and questions. I'd better be prepared. He knew he couldn't have done it since he remained faithful to his post but didn't saw any way to prove it. He hoped the guilty would admit what he did but didn't really count on it. OOC : Warslith, your char seems better to me, especially if we suppose that the priest the king sent with us belonged to the same order. However, demons seems to be really rare (almost inexistant) in this world so it would be either a secret group or a sect, great personality potential. ZT, demons which have spend probably a lot more than a millenia in a sealed cave are unlikely to use a language you can understand. Even after making your char almost useless as a warrior(if you get your hand pierced to the bone, even with metalic gloves, you won't be able to use it for at least a month without magic, even if we halve this... Also your char is trained to fight with a sword and shield, using a sword is very difficult, trying to use the non dominant hand makes you dangerous to yourself and the others), making it a demonic beacon doesn't sound like a great idea. If the demons are just attracted to blood, the telepathic power need to be scaled down. To both of you, we are not in a combat rp. EDIT : I agree with FZ if someone could make a small summary of what happen this day then we could go on. OOC : Tommy, you just have a small obstacle to bypass before entering. You can threaten to shout to bring demons here, ask me to let you in until I decide to ask Kenthren what I should do, maybe try another entry, temporarily blind me with a light spell... I suppose MSW will do the next IC if he comes at the same time as usual. EDIT : Or maybe not, he must have much to do in his new home. Good luck to him. OOC : Daniel and Oskoth would be spotted early by Anees. Akhtar won't let them in, there is something out there which drove a corps officer insane or they could be scout for the enemy, nor let them in as they could be agents of the enemy. An order from Kenthred or the leader would be necessary to make him accept Daniel and Oskoth. If a guard leave his post, Akhtar send Anees to bring Kenthren take his place. Alorael, Ara and FZ, looks like it is up to you to advance the story. -------------------- /Seawinds are calling Posts: 187 | Registered: Thursday, August 14 2003 07:00 |

The bunker was a small blockhaus, designed to house some mages or archers to disrupt the attackers lines while pikemen or swordsmen rushed from its lower levels. Its emptyness was quickly filled by the adventurers' presence. Some started eating their rations others were taking care of their minor wounds or were chatting. Kenthred brought in fresh food, one of the best way to gain attention and asked the group to choose the leader. He then procedeed to choose who would keep watch. Akhtar was designed. He would have liked to rest and speak a little with the others but he recognized it has an order and prepared to do his duty. Even if he was not in the army, his training included guard post and he was going to put it in application, again. He started whistling. He heard Rey ask what was the bloody eagle. A sadistic smile accross his face, his brown eyes locked on a slightly dammaged plate of Anee's armor, Akhtar answered : "It is simple : You cut the ribs from the spine and then pull the lungs through the holes et voilà, that is how we can have cute eagles among our fine company. " He finished inspecting Anees and himself under five minutes, without stopping whistling again. Then he told his vote would be for Eferas, and took his position. Look at TGM's message icon and the address. Also notice that to crack the source, you must have it and not a compiled version which would have to be disassembled. Now, Micael has been fouled into asking hex-editing info and a request for crack. Look at the CoC to see why. I wonder how many people will choose Registered Version and Hate it. IC : Akhtar hadn't raised his hand. He felt there was something wrong with this plan but he couldn't point it. "That is not a good idea. " said Akhtar, only a few heard him. "That is not a good idea" said he louder, approaching the river. He moved to face the biggest number of adventurers. "How many of you can swim?", some obviously hadn't thought of it,"How many of you can swim with their armor or wetted robes? And Jarsen? And Hispar? " He could have crossed, having imitated Anees a few time in water but he was sure some couldn't. "We have light, wood and blades and number. There is no need for an advanced bridge, a few trunks would be sufficient. " The strongest arms also were the most armored and not really willing to loose their live senselessly. After half an hour, a primitive bridge was done and the group went on the other side, pillars of light at their side. Anees was a litlle nervous about all that water when he traversed but he made it to the other side safely. On the other side, Chadussid wanted to destroy the bridge. The group however wanted to reach the bunker's safety before the black night. As they finally reached an open spot in the forest they saw the x pillars. Would the corpsman not have been ahead, many would have died to the trap. Chadussid : "The place is heavily trapped. The river was a natural obstacle and we probably have avoided the first lines by crossing it. Now, here is the last passive defense before the bunker. Any ideas about how we could pass it?" One of the mage spoke up : "Is it possible to skirt round it? " Chadussid : "No, not without crossing back and following Ray, Rey and Eferas." OOC : Any moon around this world? If yes, what is their albedo? This trap should be cleared quickly, burn the forest or something. In the next IC from the other group, they should be able to enter the bunker so we should better be at the door soon after. MSW don't roleplay Chadussid correctly but General Custer didn't make an IC in 5 days, considering it an npc and suppressing some of the things that made him an outstanding character of the group seems ok. Chadussid might disapprove leadership by consensus but the way it is written still paint him as a control freak and Chadussid don't want to fragment the group. The magic however is harder to explain but not loosing the group is a pretty good explanation. Finally, they were moving again. Following Raymond instructions, they soon met with Garath and those who followed him which were quickly reincorporated. Some complained, mainly the mages, but it didn't last long and soon the newcomers were informed of their new destination. The corp agent was scrutinizing the ground ahead, the group forming a row behind him. Akhtar was thoughful, the first day in the valley was nearly ended and they had already been attacked a few times. And now, they wanted to vote? The leader had to get choosen for his capacity to deal with the situation. How many other adventurers were thinking this way he didn't know but he firmly believed of the righteousness of his belief. And he had to do something about it. He started walking slowlier to be at the mages level, now that the mage named Eferas was gone he would have to talk to someone else. His takouba was pointed upward since the attack and he had to take care not to hurt anyone. When he saw the small mage he approached him and started speaking : Akhtar : "We are starting to fail the mission, we couldn't save the priest, and according to Raymond, there is no one else to rescue. The day is ending and we haven't decided what to investigate first. A leader is needed and I believe the elder mage was right, whether mages lead or not won't protect them. Your robe for example clearly shows what you are and there is this kind of things for every mage. You are the ones who know best how to dispose of the demons. You will have to bring Chadussid with you to take care of the officer but he already stated he would obey the leaders. " Akhtar was moving more and more slowly soon he was in the back and started watching the group's back. OOC : General Custer, I need some explanations about the officer on three points : - You wrote he/she was believing we are invader, however, we are in an unsettle area in a world were peace reign and the only problem is demons. - You also wrote that the agent wouldn't be able to identify the group yet it identifies at least the priest and probably you. - The officer doesn't attack you although you should be the main target since you are supposedly the one match for its skill and you are obviously with the group (giving instructions), so either you have been subdued or you are with him/her like the whole group. IC : A first wave of creatures were attacking the group, most have been destroyed but a few have been able to enter the circle, his side hadn't been attacked but he was reluctant to leave his position. Then he heard the mage that spoke with Chadussid scream. Telling the warrior on his left to abandon his position under no circumstance, he turned around and started cleaning the center, his dog's leash in the right hand and his takouba in the left. The first demon he ever saw couldn't even scare him. Afterall, he was already fighting for his survival. However he was surprised to see it disappear when Anees bite it. From the corner of his eye, he spotted the mage and saw that he was injured. A demon was approaching the grounded man, Anees tried to bite it but Akhtar's sword had already transperced it. He saw a man joining the group and quickly wondered if it was the same that killed the healer. He didn't had time to give it a second though, he advanced his left arm to help the mage get up while Anees was eyeing a demon in the center. Other adventurers also had been destroying the foul creatures and they have done well from what he could see. Akhtar was looking in the forest when Jarden started screaming, turning around he saw the bloodied corpse being dragged near the mules. The cleric was beginning to chant near Jarden but Akhtar couldn't care. He asked for the group attention and got it. "The marshes are still far, maybe we won't meet serpents and Anees might be able to protect the animals from them. " said he pointing his dog. "Moreover, the river's bank should be clear enough for us to see what attacks and the animals surely can walk there. Also, it leads to the temple were survivors, if there are any, should be barricaded. " The only problem was that following the river increased the length of their travel by a somewhat significant amount but it was still the best solution he could think of. -------------------- /Seawinds are calling Posts: 187 | Registered: Thursday, August 14 2003 07:00 |

The company's movement remindered Akhtar Batuta of his childhood in the desert, when the whole tribe used to visit various oasis and traded salt. --------- 8 centuries ago, the tribe's Sardar acknowledge that their way of life could not be continued on Cartouche due to the surpopulation so they all took the boats to Jenerva and started rebuilding their society. However, has time passed, their new home has begun to get crowded and over the last decade more and more people left it for the comfort of town. His parents did. At the age of 8, he was brought to a small town were he studied a little before moving again to another town. His parents knowledge of trade and relations allowed them to get a small company dealing condiments which assured him a correct life. He grew up there but wasn't interested. His mind was still in the desert, hearing his great-grandfather recitations telling how the finest men of the tribe joined warriors from the outside to defeat a demon around 150 years ago; he was still hearing the older legends about desert demons, unknown treasure and ancient magics from places he never saw in Cartouche. He also remembered kindly the days of combat training in case they met a brigand caravan and the games that he used to play. He trained hard. He trained harder than any other and finally he joined the local militia, only to be disappointed by the laxism and corruption. Drived by his ideal, he didn't object at the order to give the sword marked "forged for Perth militia by Renard" and the armor back when he decided to join the King's adventurers... --------- But now, he was walking along his dog Anees, a takouba, his uncle gift for his sixth anniversary, at his side and a group of people he didn't know. He grinned when he thought that Anees metalic armor was better than his silk robe renforced by a piece of bronze on the chest. Then, looking up the sky, feeling the sun's warmth on his dark skin, he decided he should try speaking to one of the adventurers. Read sjgames . Considering the date, it might be an april fool but it is nonetheless interesting. For those who don't know, Girl Genius is a studio Foglio cartoon, the same studio made some art for the avernum serie. Steve Jackson is looking for someone to get them started on the video game market, while I doubt Mr. Vogel will be interested, a spiderweb softare steampunk CRPG would be an interesting new product. The catholic church believe that you aren't born with a matured soul so abortion is wrong for them as you cast a soul into limbo, preventing it to go to heaven. I don't remember exactly what rules they apply but to go to heaven, the child must be baptised and under 7 years to have commited no sins. Thus the souls of aborted foetuses isn't baptised and can't go to heaven. -------------------- /Seawinds are calling Posts: 187 | Registered: Thursday, August 14 2003 07:00 |

OOC : Long last post. Did premonition really killed Galen ? I understood, he would commit suicide if he loose, but when he is alone in the room, he might get better. If she killed him forget it, else Terebrant has access safe place and will give the rapier and pony back. Good thing there is no debriefing like in pen&paper rps. It ended quite nicely, quite good job. IC : Terebrant saw the combat went to a still and quickly gathered his deck and everything which looked valuable on the shelves or ground. When he had filled his bag, he saw the platform was dropping, Galen has moved a little and Jesitonia was screaming, much louder than the platform. It was time to get out for him. He was already out of the room when the platform crashed, forcing him to sit in order to avoid falling on his bag. Soon, adventurers started coming through so he followed Lynn and the other but he was not able to catch up with hasted adventurers with all his new books, except two black manuscript his family already had which will be sold, and items. He was far away from the others and the path was blocked so he went by the room in which were the ghasts, grabbing an arm he had cut and used it as a cane. After a lot of following the wall to his right and engraving at the walls where different branches existed, he found an other exit, a closed sewer from when the town was much bigger. Having left most of his belongings in security, he went to the muddy town under the sunshine. A cross, symbol of the sun if any was visible. As he approached the inn, he saw that the inn had "sink" and he had a hard time getting down without falling. As he looked around, he saw a kind of way was already made on the other side, with already a few wheel traces. He went to the inn but entered only to tell everyone to stay clear of the place until he gathered "evidences". He then went to the stables and was happy to see that while many horses are wounded because of the fall and a few have been selled, Galen's was still in his box, wounded, two zombie corpses in front of him. "Most zombies went to the humans in the inn as there was humans there. " thought Terebrant has he bandaged the pony. He bought a cartage for one gold coin as its owner death made it useless to his family, and went to find more things to scavenge. While he was frolicking there, he caught a ray of light coming from under some boulders, hoping to find something else than a thorn and muddy book, he asked to have it moved. As he came back from the safe place and put his possessions in the cart, the innkeeper gave him a rapier, saying it must be magical as it is intact, Terebrant nodded and bought some pillows too have a good travel with the pony which he decided to name Zek, the best name he could find. And so, all dressed up and ready to go, he took a last glance at the town, wondering if Galen the magicuser survived his trip in a world unknown to him. OOC : Terebrant fight with two daggers which can be stuck to make one. Also, my character is insensible to magic but he is tired so fighting would drain him. Otherwise, I really liked it. IC : Terebrant fought well, but this was not enough. He was getting hit too much and only a few slashes were successful. He thought he couldn't flee and would have to find a good idea soon to survive when the attacks stopped. As he took a glance at what was going on behind him he saw Kel-Aziz and Jesitonia in a bad situation and Galen draining the necromancer. Having no clue if the spirit in Galen took his independance from the necromancer or if Galen returned to normal, he took a break to reunite his daggers and began grinding a tablet on the twin blades, he didn't knew if sleeping drugs woud be effective this way but he had to try. He took the deck he had to drop and throw it above Galen, trying to cover his attack a bit. Two light cuts appeaered on Galen's side as he passed the weapon frome his right hand to his left but he got punched back again, this time on the head, the coldness was painfull but it eased his headache a bit. He got out of reach and swallowed two tablets. IC : Terebrant had kneeled beside Lavius while he sanctified the place then moved to the back, trying to get more rest. He didn't get enough until all adventurers went in. He had started shuffling his deck when, suddenly, six soldiers died in front of him. When he looked at what killed them, he saw Galen, He went to him and saw he was not in possession of his body, like the demonologists he used to talk to he was smooth and fast. Terebrant came to speak to him, he might confuse the spirit or give a grasp on reality to Galen. Anyway, It will give time to the others. "What happened to your horse ? I would be glad to go with you to the nearest town but we would have to walk. Do you have enough money to buy another horse ? " Terebrant was near enough to strike if needed, still hoping that all will be well. OOC : premonition, I don't know what side you will choose but don't harm me too much. -------------------- /Seawinds are calling Posts: 187 | Registered: Thursday, August 14 2003 07:00 |

OOC : It is a long post. This RP should be finished by the end of the week, or so I think. Lets go in the evil shrine. IC : Terebrant saw one of the mercenary get in the first line against demons and destroy a group of them. This warrior was far from the common one, his fighting style seemed to result from extremely difficult equations, that was interesting. However this was not time to ask. One of Lynn's mage was against a wall, a small angry demon in front of him. Then Terebrant was there, ducking right next to the now lying demon which had wrists and knees cut. Terebrant : "Could you cast a summoning for me ? " Mage : "Probably not, I have blessed everyone and need energy. " Terebrant : "Let me rephrase, summon a cat because else 1) a demon will eat you or 2) a nether dragon will kill you. Mage : "Pass out or die ? " Terebrant : "Great situation, isn't it ? " "This mage was easy to manipulate he might not survive this spell as weak as he is" , thought Terebrant, "the Exiled mage he traveled with months ago said cats and dragons had great affinities, it will be verified soon. " As soon as the cat was summoned, it went past the nether dragons which followed it. By this time, a small group was making its way amidst the demons. Terebrant came pushing a demon in a sword and entered the group. -------------------- /Seawinds are calling Posts: 187 | Registered: Thursday, August 14 2003 07:00 |
