What's the status on the territories India disputes with China in the area?

I realise English might not be your first language, but you could at least spell Fellowship right if you like the film so much. And maybe make sense a little.

Songs have always involved drugs, sex and death. People might try to hide it by calling the older versions sonnets and it might be more difficult to grasp due to the language, but at heart humans are just a bag of instincts.

There are no really good proofs of God's existence. All the ones there are were fatally flawed because they worked off the standpoint that everybody believed in God anyway.

There can, in my opinion, be no such proof. Either you have faith or you don't. You might just be able to disprove God's existence, except the omnipotence thing makes that difficult, but short of the second coming, you can't prove he exists.

Djur's right. The terrible thing is that plenty of Britons think colonialism wasn't such a bad thing, and point to many of the things that shot up after it in the newly independent areas. Thus they manage to completely miss the point.

You really think Iran would invade right away if America left? Iran's got enough internal troubles of its own, and America would still be able to tear into Iran too if it so wished.

Aside from which, most of the country's Shias would be overjoyed if the Iranians came in.

Not sure what the relevance of the security wall is here, since the entire Kingdom of Jordan and a hefty slice of desert is in the way. But that doesn't seem to be that effective either, since it's divided a lot of communities from their farmlands and livelihoods, which can't be good for promoting goodwill.

LF, you're being unfair. Saddam is almost certainly medically classifiable as a psychopath, although one can see why when one considers his upbringing.

Bush has a decidedly odd moral compass at times, but he's not, so far as we can tell, mentally ill.

Holy books teach plenty of things, but most organised religions find the commandments hard to keep, particularly when they are also a ntion-state. IMHO organised religion should be considered an oxymoron. I'd provide my reasoning, but I'm too tired and too unsure what I actually believe.

It's more important, certainly, but it won't clog the schedules so much.

I don't see this as having long-term impact. Most resistance groups appear to be either religiously-motivated, nationalist, or just pissed off with Americans generally. Not even Saddam's closest supporters really liked him. He was just too much of a psychopath to cross.

My main interest will be what happens to him with respect to a trial.

I have nothing against classical music, except opera, which annoys me for reasons I can't fathom.

And since I'm not fantastically keen on instrumentals, that means I tend only to listen to classical when it's on the radio when my mother gives me a lift to school. Plus, I'd say there's a lot to be said for if not noisy, then chaotic music. Each to their own, I suppose.

The Gunner's Dream, Pink Floyd.

It';s best applicable to Ancient Greek, ROman or Celtic religion. It comes from the Latin work paganis, countryman.

But I was referring to neo-pagans and the like, the sort with the candles, drugged appearances and inexplicable prayers to the likes of Artemis.

Motrax, your claim that people listening to classical music are listening for different things is daft.

Classical music and heavy metal can both change emotions and indeed they work on mostly the same principles. They may sound completely different, although that's not always the case, but they have a lot in common. Neither is better from the other, just a little different.

The Stone Roses, Tightrope

TAOW may have some value if read as a whole, I've just read excerpts. But the thing that really irritates me is the sort of reaction to it you'll find in, for example, the Shogun manual.

Reading TAOW does not mean you know everything that needs to be known about warfare and will always beat a general who hasn't read TAOW.

From what I have read of it, it's just a very long-lived book of general good principles.

There's more than one knd of indie rock poser. David, you must have found one who has either only just started, doesn't understand the concept of indie rock or horribly mispronounces 'pop-rock.'

Most of those who would describe themselves as indie rock fans dislike major labels, call bands who have huge album sales 'sellouts' and in really extreme cases only listen to lawnmower sounds recorded in Dagestan or Ossetia.

Mind you, when you finally work out what's happening, the Mars Volta are a great band.

Stughalf, just buy a few radar collars for them and claim your dorm is infested with rabbits. Bound to work.

Whilst Ironweed might have been hopelessly offtopic, he did raise an important point. Punctuation matters. There's a major difference between the Sex Offenders List and the Sex Offender's List. Just ask Stughalf.
