Misc was interesting for you LF. That doesn't mean it was intelligent. More likely, quite the opposite. -------------------- Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned I'll tell you my story, man Though I wish I'd never been born I'm loose at the seams, I've broken my dreams And my hand it shakes the pen Come on, come on now baby, Let the good times roll again Posts: 961 | Registered: Thursday, June 12 2003 07:00 |

Every four years or so, Jeff gets a new idea. Until then, expect trilogies with scenario editors stuck on the end, dated graphics and a complete refusal to make a different type of game. We just have to live with that.

So he was at Ikonboard? Is that any reason why we should remember him? At least 500 other people were there.

Galois was an arrogant little nutter with zero social skills. I'll grant he put some interesting stuff in his writings, although he only provided the basis for group theory due to his being shot and he'd have had more if almost every paper he'd ever submitted hadn't been lost, but mostly Galois was just a bad shot.

I once got some goblin graphics from somewhere and had a goblin party, and I once used the mini-Alien Slime from An Apology as party members. I've changed them back now, but the Slime God party is one of my fondest memories.

Alternatively, don't bother trying to work out what's actually happening and guess based on your own overt or latent prejudices. Then flame wildly. If you stay around, you'll probably pick it up. If you stay around long enough, you'll probably learn some member numbers instead because certain people change their names frequently. Oh, and may I advise that you ignore all the acronyms Zephyr suggested, since nobody's going to even try to remember him and if he's referred to it will most likely be in pejorative terms.

On a completely unrelated note, does anybody know how I can convert vinyl records to .mp3 or even straight to .cda, since I have a feeling our record player's going to break down soon and some of the records I'd like to keep.

Really? So next time one of the periodic bacterial epidemics come and we can't do anything about it, meaning you have a death toll potentially in the tens of thousands, it's not that big a worry? -------------------- Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned I'll tell you my story, man Though I wish I'd never been born I'm loose at the seams, I've broken my dreams And my hand it shakes the pen Come on, come on now baby, Let the good times roll again Posts: 961 | Registered: Thursday, June 12 2003 07:00 |

Actually Orion, if you read that properly, you'd see that those tests only use one processor, so the second processor is of no use. The point is that Apple deliberately uptweaked its computers and downtweaked its opponents' computers to manipulate the results.

Genetically modified crops may or may not be a danger. It's still unclear. But I'm against them on principle, because the companies that copyright the various strains effectively control any farmer who grows those crops and have even sued farmers who got GM crops accidentally through cross-pollination. AS, putting antibiotics in animal food is likely to lead to antibiotic resistant superbugs. Antibiotics are less than a century old, but already it's getting harder and harder to find antibiotics which are still effective. -------------------- Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned I'll tell you my story, man Though I wish I'd never been born I'm loose at the seams, I've broken my dreams And my hand it shakes the pen Come on, come on now baby, Let the good times roll again Posts: 961 | Registered: Thursday, June 12 2003 07:00 |

http://spl.haxial.com/apple-powermac-G5/ I didn't understand too much of the technical detail of this article, but the gist of it is that Mac deliberately did biased speed tests and tried to mislead the public about the G5's actual speed.

Evil is starving people, overthrowing democratic governments, causing deaths for profit, exploiting children, running the entire world economy on the basis of keeping third world pay at less than $4 a day and things of that ilk. Offering an alternative system to the one you worship for unclear reasons or having an irritating internet browser is not evil. Get a sense of perspective.

AS, your argument can be summarised thus: Since a) I have used both Macs and machines running Windows and b) I prefer Macs and c) I>WORLD logically Macs are the computers of choice of Allah/Yahweh/Ganesha/Mr. T and Microsoft is a horrible filth-encrusted entity which makes its money through child prostitution. In my experience, crashing is as often due to the machine as it is to the operating system. I've known PCs which have never crashed and one which take around half an hour to boot up without crashing and whilst I haven't used Macs more than 5 times in my life, I have seen the beginnings of similar trends.

There was more than one person involved with the KwsN? So far as I knew, it was just TM (for about a fortnight) and Robin and any other mentioned staff were just creations of Robins personality disorders. You obviously aren't TM and you don't seem to have the right mix of arrogance and stupidity to be Robin, so who are you? -------------------- Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned I'll tell you my story, man Though I wish I'd never been born I'm loose at the seams, I've broken my dreams And my hand it shakes the pen Come on, come on now baby, Let the good times roll again Posts: 961 | Registered: Thursday, June 12 2003 07:00 |

Basically, Macintosh is better than Microsoft because a) Macintosh is a slightly smaller evil corporation than Microsoft b) Mac users have convinced themselves that they are the underdogs and therefore they are morally superior c) Windows is more widely-used than Mac and many Mac users are convinced that they are better than the mass of humanity d) Because typing GETAMAC requires one more letter than GETAPC and therefore Mac users are intellectuals.
