Nixon singlehandedly killed off the dinosaurs just because he could.

He may have been corrupt and perennially dishonest, but that doesn't mean he was psychopathic.

Not if you're not attracted to them. If a horse was making amorous advances at me, that wouldn't make me any more attracted to it.

You may now discuss whether this is because I wouldn't be attracted at all ever or because you can only have a finite quantity of attraction.

There are certain things that the community as a whole has decided. It makes things easier for discussion, gives people a useful starting point for scenarios so their information doesn't clash too much with anybody else's (not that it matters) and clears up some of the game's many ambiguities. Some theories such as Vahnatai creationism are not universally accepted.

If you want information, I recommend the Encyclopedia Ermariana, which is nowhere near complete and has an address I can't remember.

Procreation might be the intended purpose of it, but the intended purpose is not necessarily the only one and it certainly is not the only reason.

I'm an English speaker. My proficiency at French is not what it was, but still just about at conversational level and I don't get much further than hello in any other spoken tongue.

I beg to differ. Remember the 'What are you listening to?' topic? It was far easier for the stupidity to make the journey from Misc. than the worthwhile content. Most of the good topics here would have been accepted on general previously anyway and the rest tend to just be politics with less original flames.

I feel I should also point out that the English translations of the bible don't come from German. The first English and German bibles were produced at around the same time, both from the Greek or Latin texts. Newer texts come straight from Greek.

As to the missing books, it's undeniable some are missing. There's a reference to the book of Jasher and although there is a book of that name, it's a 12th century forgery. It may be a mistranslation of Joshua, or it may just be lost. There are also several other books. My fundie bible takes the interesting viewpoint that 'it's OK, because they're not important.'

The selection process for bible books was flawed. If it was attributed to an apostle it stood a better chance of getting in, but that didn't mean the apostle wrote it. Matthew didn't write the Gospel and it's unlikely John did. It certainly wasn't the apostle who wrote the Apocalypse of Saint John or, most likely, the letters. It's doubtful that Jude wrote his epistle or that Peter wrote any of his, Timothy is no longer confidently ascribed to Paul, nor is Titus, and if there was any concrete information on James there'd probably be proof he didn't write it. This doesn't invalidate them, but you have to wonder.

That's a fairly well known bug.

I found the Romans easier. I'm more of a melee player anyway and since my spell use is mostly limited to blessing, I didn't find the magical restrictions too hard. In addition to which, since I can still have the trait berserk and make up for it with Roman training, I'm able to hack through pretty much anything.

He left because he had a paranoid inability to deal with criticism. Just like you have an inability to make a post that's good enough to cancel out that irritating signature.

Neither Stughalf nor myself was being particularly offensive, nor particularly inaccurate. If you can't put up with this, I suggest you make good on your threat and leave.

I've drunk a concoction of soy sauce and balsamic vinegar before. The first time was for a bet, the other few times were a pre-emptive hangover cure.

By pre-emptive, I mean that drinking a glass of it instantly took away any desire you had to drink anything bar water whatsoever. Tasted quite nice, mind.

I recommend SD reads up on the history of far left groups before he castigates us for mocking and ostracising (wrong word, but it sounds better than 'no longer ignoring') ADoS.

And on the occasions where non-violent revolutions have taken place. Not many, I'll grant you, but a few.

Of course, that doesn't mean I wouldn't pay good money to see Lenin tear ADoS apart using only the power of his mind.

I don't drink fruit juice any more, since it's stuffed full of sugar and if I keep the sugar down, it means I don't need to think so much about how much insulin to inject.

I prefer the fruit itself anyway.

My milk intake is probably limited to about half a pint poured over my breakfast cereal and a tiny bit in coffee.

I tend to drink very little and when I do it's water or something fizzy from a 2 litre bottle.

Morgan's theory holds true if you believe that opposites attract, but I think that small children, or for those with real get up and go, grizzly bears are perfectly viable alternatives.

And of course trees, fruit, Mexicans and other non-sentient creatures.

Yes, the major problem with treating it like a computer game is that there's no reload function and dignity matters a lot to people. I'm not certain that's the right approach but it's certainly not a view that's completely without merit.

Myself, I doubt I'd go down that road in most cases because it'd be too likely to damage a friendship. Then again, it's not really that much of an issue until I start taking more than a peremptory interest in my own appearance.
