1) Ed came to these boards and was an idiot for a while, so he was banned. Then he came back, and was banned again. Then he... repeat a few times over the past year.

2) Aaargh came to these boards and was an idiot for a while, so he was banned too. However, he must be credited with not returning.

3) The history of TM's relationship with the Spiderweb forums is a long and sordid tale. He was banned numerous times; most recently by Jeff for a real trivial profanity.

4) Which cult? The Cult of Dikiyoba or the Cult of Richard White? If it's the latter... I have no idea why people are such damn fools about some joke religion. If it's the former... it's not idiotic, heretic, prepare for the terrible divine justice of the Great one!

5) He made Galactic Core and was not heard from again. They say that the game Sucked so badly that it sucked him out of the regular timestream and gave him the power to traverse the fourth dimension at will. But see 4).

6) Quiet! They will hear you!

7) Weird? How so? I don't understand.

Bragging about how you can crack all of Jeff's games and/or get them from your friend for $1 and nothing will stop you can do that.

All right, that's enough.

For your information, the topic in question was discussed at length on the Moderator Board. There was unanimous agreement to my suggestion that it was a failure as a debate topic because instead of an issue it presented flamebait.

Let me demonstrate an analogy:

quote:
Do you believe George W. Bush is doing a good job as a president?
quote:
Don't you agree that Bush is a moron who should be fired?
However, I refrained from locking it because of my POV and also because the flamewar was only in potentia. It had received only a single reply and was well on its way to sinking naturally without needing any intervention.

Then it turned out that ("*drool* *gurgle*) it didn't, and Stareye locked it.

---

I am just saying the above because it's extremely irritating to spend many hours of free time looking after these boards and actually making sure that the intervention that does happen is justified and well-grounded, and then being told you suck at it. Yada yada, yes we're all actually merciless dictators (especially *i), but unlike some people we are not pushing a political agenda.

And now, goodbye.

The pictures are in the graphics folder of the game. If you use Mac, they're in a resource file and you'll have to look for a resource file viewer (like ResEdit, I believe) to open it.

I'm not sure who drew them. For the Avernum series, Jeff had his graphics done by the Foglios (http://www.studiofoglio.com ), but this style looks different.

I was going to put another elaborate commentary here like for Round 1. Then I thought screw it, I'm just going to admit I voted for the ones I like best without bothering to come up with justification.

Well, except in the case of Nicothodes and Dikiyoba. That was really a tough one. :P However, against the Church of Dikiyoba, even two really sharp pencils aren't going to help much. Depending on whether actual outside help is allowed, Dikiyoba is either supported by frenzied cultists or otherwise by that god/believers/power relation seen in fantasy.

Edit: I note that Riibu is getting trounced by Archmage Alex. I still think that's ridiculous (stick figures competing with the Chaos Attack?), but it also means Slarty won't get to match us up in round 3. Which is relieving. :P

Edit2: Intriguing. I wonder what word TM used that you had to censor, but I probably don't want to know.

You've got it confused with the PPP. Well, yes, member profiles would be a pity to lose without backup, but frankly, as long as the post archives are there, I myself wouldn't mind registering anew at a different place (even at the cost of the post count).

Endeavor is really just for stats. It records name changes, title changes, and postcounts. Taking your profile down is only matter of a few clicks. Just in case you feel uncomfortable with it.

Nice job with your markup, by the way. Although proper XHTML would have been <feels emotion="dumb"></feels>. :P

This was especially confusing for me, because I had only the feed to go on (which told me the thread had been there, but Spiderweb said it was gone), and when I got the idea of looking in the mod board, my connection collapsed.

It was thus quite some time before I noted with relief that it wasn't Sarasaphilia's comic that had offended. :P

I'm sitting this one out, but I have a comment: Some of the RPs at Spiderweb rely on a heavily oligarchic rule, almost like a cabal (although there is no cabal, of course).

The effects of this, as seen by an outsider, are confusing, because there are a lot of rules that run "you can't do this, but we can because we know what we're doing".

This generally works, however - and as you get more skilled at writing actual stories (both in terms of writing skill and in making the plot run smoothly) you get to be part of this as well.

Oh dear oh dear.

And I thought our Analysis teacher made a funny when he spoke of the "Leipzig"-Rule (it's actually the Leibniz-Rule, Leipzig is a town in East Germany. :P )

Also, I protest at the RS - Homeland comparison.
