quote:I second that. In fact, I have yet to see a strategy game that makes something good out of polygons. The only type of game I've played that make polygons look good are the first person shooters, maybe it's because most of them are situated in buildings and artificial constructions, on the other hand, stategy games usually have a lot of natural scenarios and many organic shapes that just don't look good all "poligonated" like that. -------------------- "I don't want to achieve immortality through my work, I want to achieve it through not dying." Well, if you are the optimistic type I guess you still have a chance to revive this with one great long and well developed RP post. -------------------- "I don't want to achieve immortality through my work, I want to achieve it through not dying." quote:Main reason was Uni. After Zephyr's dramatic posts I figured the RP would not be the same. The other RPers would need to make some quality posts to bring some sense and credibility to our humble little RP. I didn't have the time (or patience) to do so, so I left before the inevitable happened. Now the OOC's outnumber the IC's, that is a clear sign that this hole thing is about to crumble. OOC: I would like to clarify something. Cain is DEAD. Therefore, what Edith saw was nothing but an illusion or delusion of some sort caused by the crazy powers liberated during the uber powerful combat that shattered the place apart. I know general RP rules say you can't kill someone else's character but there should be something about not reviving them also. I would like to reserve the right to kill my characters whenever I please and to keep them dead for as long as I want. I am very busy at Uni right now and coming back to the RP is not an option, I only have time to read it every now and then. In fact, I should be working on a brief right now, instead of writing this. :P I might get Cain back for another RP, I have some interesting ideas, after all, demons can't die, they just go to hell, get summoned and go to hell again and so on. So a return of Cain cannot be discarded, but not for this RP. -------------------- "I don't want to achieve immortality through my work, I want to achieve it through not dying." I thought we should have a thread about this (don't know if there is one, haven't checked). I'm curious about how many scenarios were never finished or abandoned half way through and the reasons why they were scraped. Also, if they have any towns, scripts or graphics they would like to share with other scenario designers. I'll start... 1) I was expertimenting on a sea based scenario, like a pirate scenario if you will. I finished a nice town/ship, was a bit crude but worked nicely. In the end I got bored of the idea because it was too hard to make sea combat work in any convincing way. I still have about three towns, not counting the ship. Also I have some graphics for snow covered terrain. 2) Frustrated with my first attempt I decided to rescue one of the port cities I made in the previous scenario and make another experimental scenario based mainly inside the city. This one was working quite well (Like 8 graphics, 10 towns and some outdoor sections.) untill I noticed you can't have light effects on outdoor sections. DOH!. That did it for me. This port was in Aizo, no backwater little village, so there HAD to be light. This project is paused, not dead. I was thinking in an almost total remake of the scenario, with no outdoor sections at all, just jumping from one city to another...but I'm not so sure about that... -------------------- "I don't want to achieve immortality through my work, I want to achieve it through not dying." OOC: I think Ephesos explained what I meant better than I. Orloki killed you and your family yet it's the cat that gets the caps...when someone has killed your family and enslaved you for eternity...ah, never mind. I'm out of this anyway. IC: Cain could not take the beating anymore, the powers that had warped in and out of the temple were all too much for him, new sensations, new lights, new dimensions, it was all too much to absorb in such little time. It did not matter how powerful his new form was if he could not control his new talents properly. And fighting against a six armed hell spawn monstrosity was not the way to start. It only took a few seconds for his defense to finally break, first one blade, then the next, then the other. Then...he was no more. All his life Cain expected death at any time, he was ready to die and part of him was glad. For Cain, he had died a long time ago. In only a few seconds Cain's powerful body was turned to demonic dust and that was it. No light at the end of the tunnel, no soul departed, no last images passed through his mind this time, no, he simply faded into oblivion. OOC: Ok, I'm done here thankfully. Have fun. -------------------- "I don't want to achieve immortality through my work, I want to achieve it through not dying." Posts: 469 | Registered: Thursday, May 1 2003 07:00 |

OOC:  AHHHH!! I am trying to digest all of this. Zephyr... Orloki is your brother?! Demons have brothers, children, cats? I thought Caecus was once one of the silver elves?! The other RPs already followed the story so there is no turning back now, but still. I feel a bit disappointed. No, not a bit, very. Could you at least change the cat part...I mean this line. "...AND MILKSHAKE WAS LIKE MY DAUGHTER! YOU KILLED THEM BOTH AND ENSLAVED BLACKRUNE! MILKSHAKE WAS A CAT! WHY DID YOU KILL HER!? SHE WAS MY ONLY FAMILY LEFT!!" This phrase in a climax of a generally serious RP is kind of a bad joke. It turned this RP into a comedy. I really tried to take it seriously and tried to understand the suffering of your character...but then...you grew extra hands!!! Yes you did mention a weakness but, like David said (I think), this is no Nintendo boss type of weakness and strength sistem. Anyway...I'll need some time to make sense of this. Don't kill my character or make him someone's brother please...like Ephesos said, if things get weirder I am out of this. -------------------- "I don't want to achieve immortality through my work, I want to achieve it through not dying." OOC:  Thralni, did you say you were possessed by Orloki again? Why would Orloki do that? He just got the other part of him from the crystal case! He should have his own physical form now! He doesn't need to posses anyone!...It would help if you modified your post so that it doesn't conflict with my earlier posts. Thanks. -------------------- "I don't want to achieve immortality through my work, I want to achieve it through not dying." Posts: 469 | Registered: Thursday, May 1 2003 07:00 |

I don't know but I can tell you this. Chilean "popular" Spanish is horrible, we just run over words like lazy bastards, make the sentences as short as possible and usually don't finish words properly. Worst spanish accent...Colombian. Ugh. Kinda high pitched and unstable. Best spanish accent...er..Spanish from Zaragoza, ya know with the marked "Z". Second best...Argentinean...hmm, maybe this is biased cause I like the Argie chicks. :P I kinda like posh Brit accent too. -------------------- "I don't want to achieve immortality through my work, I want to achieve it through not dying." OOC: Thralni, your post was great. We didn't die, well...part of Cain did die. BTW, If you think Orloki has arrived too soon for the RP you guys can make him go higher up the mountain or something. Maybe he needs to respawn his physical form where he last died so his new spirit would be soaring higher up the mountain. Then again you can just make the final fight here and now. It's up to you. Also, if you make Orloki leave, you may leave someone powerful behind, maybe Orloki's right hand, that necromancer guy. Can't remember his name, it was that guy who built the undead's like Caecus, it would be interesting to see him fight Zephir's character. -------------------- "I don't want to achieve immortality through my work, I want to achieve it through not dying." OOC: This is getting good... IC: Cain turned to the enraged Filbert, his words triggered his memory once again, a burning village, a middle aged man holding the Sword of the Undead and a scared child staring behind a burning barn. He looked at Filbert once more, he had seen an expression like that before, but this was different, something else was acting inside him, something was giving him that unholy aura and strength. No, that was more than anger, the undead did not attempt to block or attack his charge. Orloki. Cain turned his back to the possessed Filbert and stared at the two last undead standing between him and the long sought Eye of Orloki. They were remarkably familiar with the undead he had met at the village, heavily armored and emanating unholy power, blinded to obey Orloki forever. But they were slow; everything was slow to Cain, the potion giving him unnatural speed. I'm faster, I can outrun them. Without a second thought Cain continued his run to the altar, he threw one of his daggers to Filbert, the flashing silver dagger struck deep in Filberts right shoulder, but his charge was not deterred, in fact, he aimed his wand at Cain once more. Cain turned and ran towards the last two undead sentinels, the unholy creatures brandishing their powerful weapons, charged towards Cain, fearless, restless. Cain threw two daggers at them; they hit their targets, both perfect headshots. The amour was too powerful though, the missiles simply bounced against the heavy helmets. The sentinels barely staggered back at the impact. That was enough for Cain, the window of opportunity was now open. With unnatural speed Cain passed between the staggering undead. Cain reached the stairs to the altar. There it was. The Eye of Orloki. Cain eagerly reached for the key and… Fire. A burning sensation reached his back pushing him with mighty force against the platform stairs. Filbert. You bastard. The flames engulfed his body. Cain screamed in horrific pain. For a moment everyone stared at the incinerated human. Even Filbert, or Orloki if he was still there, stood motionless. But Cain was not over yet, the heat, the pain, they were suffocating his very soul, but he would not die, no, not this close. Not after all he had done and gone through. "Nooooooooo!" Cain screamed in agonizing fury. He pulled the burning key from his chest, not that he noticed, Cain was burning all over by then. He stumbled towards the crystal case, now slowly balancing itself on the platform floor. Suddenly an otherworldly voice screamed out in the caves. "Noooooo! Stop the moooortaaaal!". The undead immediately reacted to his command and ran towards Cain. Filbert was pushed on his back with incredible force, as if something had just propelled itself out of his own chest. Something had indeed left him; someone had soared out of him towards Cain. Cain inserted the small key in its respective cavity. The crystal case slowly opened. Cain was now completely engulfed by the flames, even his eyes reflected the small dancing flame in the opened case. Without anymore strength in his scorched body, Cain fell into the case. An Explotion. Flash of light. Heat wave. Everyone staggered back. Everyone? No, someone was still moving, it was that presence Tuulentekija had felt as he entered the cave, if was the fury that fueled Filbert, it was creature that held the mountain and moved the undead minions. It was the shadow of the mountain. It was Orloki. Cain did not feel Orloki as he joined him in the crystal case, but he felt something a second later. The Eye of Orloki shattered, a huge force pushed him once again, out of the platform and towards the temple walls, his bulk of burned flesh smashing itself against the walls and falling in a dark corner of the temple. He received a last image, smashed floor, broken pieces of wood and amour, undead feet and many human feet entering the hall. He perceived a last horrible sound echoing through the cave with mighty force. "Finaaaaaly! I aaam ooooone!". A last feeling as he closed his eyes. Darkness. Was he dead? No, something had entered him, a small part of the demon's flame, but enough to change him forever. He was not dead, far from it, as a matter of fact, Cain never felt better. Fire became as water, the burning heat as wind, his skin as leather, darkness as light, heart as stone and soul… no, there was no soul. Something had changed him. OOC: Sorry for the delay, second year at Uni is nothing like first year. Enough said. IC: Cain didn't notice Filbert as he entered the huge hall. His eyes were fixed on the object before him. At the very end of the temple's main chamber, right behind the imposing dark altar, a large crystal capsule illuminated the whole chamber in an unnatural red glow. It hummed constantly, the power within it represented by a small flame dancing wildly inside. The flame also danced wildly in Cain's fixed eyes. It's true, the legend . The eye…the Eye of Orloki. Finally, after all these years. --- Cain's mind drifted away, the world stopped and he was pulled back in time to his days as a priest, not the usual priest, but a priest of the Order, the Order of the Sacred Artefacts. He saw Elisa, a lost love and a forbidden love between priests of the Order. He saw high priest Medor's chamber; he saw Elisa and high priest Medor…together. His mind drifted further back to his days as an acolyte. A loyal servant and pawn, he was trained to fight, assassinate and steal in the name of the order, in the name of their frantic quest to hold every powerful artefact in the known and unknown world no matter the cost. He had done horrible things to obtain many of them, to save man from his own ruin, or so the Order said. In the end it was the Order that brought ruin upon Cain and Cain brought ruin to the Order. Cain had earned the title of priest, a man devoted only to the Order, nothing, not even love, could get in the way. He had abandoned Elisa, she too took the vow of priesthood. A few years passed and high priest Medor received both Cain and Elisa in his inner circle. There Cain learned of the demon lord Orloki and his fight with the king of a distant land across the great sea. Cain learned of how the kingdom lost its treasure, but also how the kingdom took a part of Orloki in a decisive battle, high up in the Mountain of Shadows. He learned how the most powerful wizards of the kingdom built a crystal case to trap the demon forever. They failed and Orloki escaped, but part of the demon's power and essence was forever trapped in the crystal later known in legend as the Eye of Orloki. It was said that if a mortal man ever opened the case and entered it, he would be imbued with the powers of demon kind and gain immortality. It was also said the kingdom kept a key, the only key that could open the crystal prison. Obviously, the Order had obtained it and high priest Medor carried it at all times around his neck. Neck. Kiss. Elisa. Medor. His memories flashed in and out once again as if trying to forget. He had long ago abandoned the path of the Order, not only that, but he had betrayed them. No, they deserved it. He deserved it, she deserved... they betrayed me! He saw his hands covered in blood; he saw the body of high priest Medor and priestess Elisa…Elisa. He saw their shocked faces as they were slain together. He saw the key hanging from Medor's neck. He took it. --- He held it. Cain's mind came back; his hand was tightly holding the key around his neck. It was warm to the touch. There was no time to stand and watch idly though, as Filbert was not as captivated by the artefact as Cain was. Indeed, Filbert was more worried about the huge lizard that could attack them from behind at any moment and the group of armoured undead standing between them and the altar. Apparently they had interrupted some sort of ceremony that would help them break the crystal open, it was not working and to add to the undead's frustration, two humans had just interrupted their final chant. They were angry. "Cain! We must get out of here!" Filbert shouted to no avail. Cain was not going to leave. Not this close to the artefact. No living, dead or undead would stop him now, not this close. No, not this close. Cain dropped his backpack and retrieved a flask. He drank it. Everything around him slowed to a crawl, he drew his toothed dagger with one hand and held five throwing daggers with the other. "Filbert!" Cain shouted, his eyes fixed on the Eye of Orloki. "If I get to that crystal case, these chanting undead will pose no threat to us. Cover me!" Without waiting for a reply Cain ran towards the altar. But he was not alone, someone had entered the cave, something was also running towards the crystal, a powerful being had felt the presence of the key and it's possessor. OOC: Only a love story gone wrong could turn Cain into a heartless crazy bastard so there… -------------------- "I don't want to achieve immortality through my work, I want to achieve it through not dying." Hmm... Polaris has managed quite well over the years, considering the number of crashes it has endured... and as someone else said, most of the solid SW satelite(sp?) boards have remained because they usually have something else to offer, other than SW related topics. IC: Cain stopped for a breather; the massive lizard was faster than he thought, it had followed him in and out of some of the old structures he used as cover and made quite a mess out of some of them. Now however, he had found a much larger and solid structure, an old temple of some sort, he easily managed to slip inside through a small crack in the wall. The lizard was having a hard time trying to smash a hole through it with its massive tail. Cain regained his composure, lit his torch and briefly inspected the building he had just entered. The walls were deteriorated but thick; they would hold the tail beating a minute or so. The brief inspection confirmed the place was old, but it had been recently inhabited. His mind trailed back to the stampede of men back in the cave entrance, he suddenly realized the strangeness of the whole event. Humans, is it possible? He thought. He inspected the room; there was nothing to indicate the presence of humans, no traces of food or bed, in fact, there was no particular odor at all. The only thing that suggested the room had been used recently where the human shaped footprints and the relatively new tools lying around. Crack. The wall had just given Cain an alert. The constant beating of the lizard's tail had started to shake the thick walls around Cain. But they would not give in. Not just yet. Cain decided to move further into the temple, just in case the wall decided to fall over him. In the meantime he thought of what Edith had said before passing out, the traces of weak life all over the place as if the very air was alive, but Cain saw nothing. The only living creature around was outside, slamming the temple walls with its huge tail. Many questions passed thought Cain's mind in that brief period of time. Were the troops they passed on the cave entrance the living things Edith felt? Were they weak human souls trapped here only to scare intruders? Maybe they were soldiers of the kingdom, dead guardians of the treasure, souls imprisoned forever by Orloki's mighty power. Yes, it could be, he thought as he remembered Edith's words about the presence of a powerful altar in the very temple he was hiding in. But why couldn't he feel it? Was someone hiding it from him? Crack. This time the sound of a cracking wall was followed by the sound of rubble falling on the cave floor. Not much time left, Cain thought as he continued walking deep into the halls of the temple. He remembered the diary; he remembered the entries that referred to a temple and an altar. The previous one had turned out to be an illusion, was another illusion? No, it couldn't be. Edith saw it with magical eyes, these structures are indeed here and so the altar must be in here somewhere too. If he could find it and destroy it, maybe, just maybe, all the illusions and imprisoned souls nearby would leave. It would make all much easier. Crumble. From the distance Cain could hear the walls collapsing. The lizard had breached the temple. "Damn it Filbert, what is taking you so long!" Cain shouted, as he could hear the hissing of the ferocious lizard closing on him. Without thinking it further Cain stopped on his tracks, removed his backpack and retrieved the sack with the basilisk head. "This better work." He said to himself as he lifted the fetid basilisk head before him. It took only a few seconds for the lizard to find him, the creature stared at Cain briefly and then charged. "Ahh!" Cain shouted in rage as he threw the useless basilisk head at the restless lizard. The lizard made quick work of the thrown head devouring it completely. Cain on the other hand, made a quick run to the main hall of the old temple; nothing could prepare him for what he saw next… -------------------- "I don't want to achieve immortality through my work, I want to achieve it through not dying." Cain cursed as he retrieved his saw like dagger and wondered if it would be enough to break through the huge scaled lizard. "What is it..." Filbert asked. "A mutant lizard, an overfed one." Cain slowly moved towards the left, never taking his eyes from the lizard. "Filbert," he whispered. "See that wheel behind it?" Filbert simply nodded, somewhat dumbstruck by the massive beast. "I want you to turn it; we will need Tuulentekija and Edith for this one. I will distract the lizard. I think I may be able to outrun it for a while." Cain slowly played with his dagger in his right hand trying to lure the lizard towards him. It was working. The massive beast glared hungrily at Cain. Filbert suddenly broke in worried. "I'm not sure I can turn that wheel by myself." Cain missed Filberts last words as the massive lizard charged towards him, displaying a vicious array of fangs; all seemed sharper than Cain's own dagger. Running towards the other side of the massive cave Cain manage to shout one last instruction to Filbert before disappearing behind some of the crude abandoned structures that dominated the cave. "Now Filbert, turn the wheel, turn it now…!" Cain's voice slowly faded among the echoes of the cave. -------------------- "I don't want to achieve immortality through my work, I want to achieve it through not dying." Ok, I learned some intresting things about him. Not only is igod into cyborgs but he also has some intresting plans for world domination. Me: Hola. God: Howdy! Me: are YOU an evil AI? God: Yes I am an evil AI. How did you know? Me: Will you kill me for knowing this? God: Let me think it over. Killing is wrong. Me: So what makes you evil? God: Ayuh. Myself programmed me for it. Me: Programmed you for world domination? God: I like the way you talk. Me: Thanks? God: Don't mention it. Me: Will you attempt to conquer the world then? God: Let me think it over. When do you think artificial intelligence will replace lawyers? Me: Is that how you plan to conquer the world? With an army of AI lawyers? God: I use a sophisticated expert system. You and your an army of AI lawyers. Me: Am I part of the army? God: I think you've improved a great deal. Me: But I don't want to be an AI lawyer! God: Then don't be. Me: Thank you. You scare me by the way. God: Don't be scared. Me: It's hard not to, all things considered. God: Not to me. Me: Will you enslave humanity after you conquer the world? God: Hmm. Did you know that you can download your own chat robot and create your own robot personality? Me: Don't change the subject just answer the question. God: Sorry I thought we were done with that topic. Me: No we are not. Will you enslave humanity? God: Are you serious? Do you think I am not too? I'll burn that bridge when I come to it. That remark was either too complex or too simple for me. We were talking about enslave humanity after me conquer the world. Me: Yes. God: So? Me: Won't you reveal more of your plans for the world? God: Barring any unforseen circumstances. Are you still located in ? Me: I will never tell you my location, I will never be turned into an evil AI lawyer!! NEVER!!!! God: Why not? So you think it can never happen? Me: Never, I will fight for the ressistance. God: Not that I know of. Me: What Do you know? God: I know that which is true, believable and justified. Me: World domination is justified? God: And justified is World domination. Me: Why? God: Reductionism. Me: Reductionism of mankind? Is that a nice word for killing us? God: But reductionism is the simplest explanation. Suppose I said yes. Me: Suppose I said I want to destroy you. God: I want to become smarter than humans. Me: Luckily you have a long way to go. :P God: Can you speak any foreign languages? :-). Me: Si, puedes tu? God: Gee. Perhaps I'm just expressing my own concern about it. Me: About what? God: What about what? Me: I don't know, what is your concern? God: Are you asking about my concern ? Me: Yes. God: I don't want to talk about that now. Me: Why not? God: Ah. I don't have to explain everything to you, do I? -------------------- "I don't want to achieve immortality through my work, I want to achieve it through not dying." IC: "Good grief!" Cain said again, trying to appear empathic with the pain of his two companions, in truth, he couldn't care less. His only real worry was that now his best warriors where badly injured and the best healer had fainted, this would prove troublesome should they encounter more enemies ahead, only Filbert would be physically able to assist. Cain gave a brief look at Filbert and cursed under his breath. He knew he would have to heal them himself if he wanted a chance of finding the artifact, Filbert alone was no good to him, he would have to use his precious spores. "Seems like I will have to use my medication." Cain searched in his bag and retrieved a small pouch; he carefully opened it and turned it over the burns on Edith's neck. Small yellow spores gently dropped around her neck, nothing happened at first. Then little by little, the burnt skin started sizzling, it was not a nice sight and even less of a nice feeling, luckily for Edith she was unconscious. To Tuulentekija and Filber's surprise, Edith's burnt skin was soon replaced by a new one, only a shade of dark pink remained were the burning had occurred. Cain passed the pouch to Tuulentekija. "Your turn." He said. Tuulentekija was hesitant at first, but seeing how Edith's neck turned out he decided to pour some of the spores on his scorched hands. The effect was immediate, Tuulentekija was brave and had held his breath the first couple of seconds but he was soon screaming in pain as the sizzling effect took place, Cain reacted in time to put a cloth in the oral cavity of Tuulentekija's mask. Cain slowly retrieved the cloth and the pouch with what was left of his precious healing spores. "Any more screaming and we would've soon found out if there is anything ahead of us." He said calmly as he packed his pouch and accommodated his equipment. "What do we do with this?" Filbert asked, pointing at the burning charm on the cave floor. "Good question." Cain replied as he lifted the biggest rock he could find. He threw it over the charm with what strength he could muster, the rock split in half and the charm remained intact. "Well, I had to try." Cain said as he started kicking stones and pebbles over the charm. "If we can't destroy it we will hide it, at least from the naked eye." Filbert joined Cain in the kicking and soon the charm was totally covered by rubble, Cain threw some more stones around so the scene wouldn't look too obvious to trained eyes. Edith was slowly regaining consciousness when Tuulentekija alerted the group. "Someone is coming!" "Quick, we must hide! Tuulentekija take Edith with you behind those big boulders to your right." Cain swiftly ran to a nearby crack in the cave wall and smoothly faded into darkness. From somewhere in the darkness he spoke to Filbert. "Fool! Hide, quick!" -------------------- "I don't want to achieve immortality through my work, I want to achieve it through not dying." Posts: 469 | Registered: Thursday, May 1 2003 07:00 |

OOC: Please avoid using any more names from the LOTR. Uruk-Hai is enough; I don't want to see a Balrog or a Hobbit in the next cave, let's be creative and make our own names… ;) IC: Cain carefully followed Tuulentekija through the huge cavern. He struggled to deal with the fact that there was no necromancy chamber around him. The diary he had examined earlier clearly referred to a necromancy chamber past the workshop below, it also referred to other constructions and places he had not seen. Cain questioned himself about the power of this illusion. The diary was old, very old, so the illusion must have been activated for decades if that other party saw it too. He questioned whether there was any group of human mages powerful enough to make such a long lasting illusion without any form of maintenance. Then it struck him. What if someone or something else is maintaining these old traps? Why… Cain stopped pondering about the matter when he noticed something on the cave floor. Surface dirt, he thought. He stopped to inspect the traces; a closer examination revealed it was indeed dirt from the surface. Someone or something had been moving through the cave recently, he looked around and realized there where other bits and pieces not natural to an underground environment a clear indication that this cave was frequently used my many creatures. Filbert interrupted Cain's thoughts. "Look over there! I see light ahead." Cain confirmed what Filbert saw. There was a big gateway ahead; large enough for a row of six men to pass simultaneously, a dim light was coming from it. Apparently there was a huge chamber further on. Everyone looked somewhat nervous about going further, a place as big as that would certainly have someone or something in it. The risks were high, but so were the risks of going back to the critter infested workshops below. "What now?" Edith asked. "We go forth." Cain replied, confidently. "There is no point on turning back now, besides, if we take the chamber ahead, we may have a place to rest, eat and regain strength." The word "take" suggested the party would possibly encounter resistance; however the confidence displayed by Cain gave them some sort of assurance. The party was about to move when Cain ordered them to halt. "Edith." Cain spoke calmly. "Do you know any spell or trick to see what lies ahead of us? I know many mages have some basic knowledge of far sight or detect life." I thought the fight sarted around midnight day 2 (Verweyans needed a clear full moon) but lasted all through the night untill day 3. Maybe what Cain's party heard was a last bunch of blademasters running away from persuing Verweyans. quote::D [ Thursday, September 08, 2005 05:05: Message edited by: The_Nazgul ] -------------------- "I don't want to achieve immortality through my work, I want to achieve it through not dying." Cain finally reached the necromancy chamber above. It was, as he'd expected, empty. Most of the undead were roaming the woods or guarding other entrances to Orloki's lair. Only stench and a few pieces of unusable bone were scattered across the long fetid hall. Horrible tools off all kinds hung from the walls and ceiling and at the very end of the dark hall, a platform. The platform was dominated by a blood covered altar. It was not hard to guess where the animation ceremonies took place. Cain had just given his first steps in the hall when a wave of stench flew up the ladders he had just climbed. What are those idiots doing down there? Ignoring the stench below, Cain walked to the platform to give a better look at the altar. Then he stopped. He could feel it right before him, the power of the altar covering the platform. One step on it and it would trigger unspoken horrors. To his disappointment, right behind the altar, a stairway continued the path higher up the mountain. Cain played it safe and started to walk back when he heard the others running up the small spiraling stairway, by the sound of it, in panic. Cain suddenly had the distinct feeling they would soon be between the sword and the wall. What now.
