OOC: Let's keep the momentum going!

IC:

The crack of the black ice made the mountain tremble, everywhere; bits and pieces were falling over living and dead alike.

Cain stood impassively in the centre of the pentagram, the spirit of Orloki slowly pouring into him, almost oblivious to chaos around him. The dark ritual of unification slowly sapped the energy of Edith and Melora while at the same time, brought together Orloki and Cain. Suddenly, Orloki broke the silence and screamed through Cain, "Fool! You have undone the black ice!" Oblivious to the fact that it was not Ephesos who had done this. "This will bring your doom and that of my ritual sacrifices!"

Surely as Orloki predicted, sharp black ice matter was falling dangerously close to the semi-unconscious bodies of Edith, Melora and Cain himself. Several undead minions were buried by the falling debris, while others lost limbs, not that they cared. Those who did care though, were Filbert and Ephesos who were struggling to avoid the same fate as the undead. It was at this moment when Orloki noticed the proximity of Filbert as the young warrior jumped by Edith's altar and kicked a falling piece of black ice away from Edith's unconscious body.

"You!" Orloki spat. You are tainted! You are one of us! Orloki spoke, this time into Filberts mind. As this mind connection occurred, Orloki waved the remaining undead to charge, or crawl, towards Ephesos.

Although Orloki was now diverting some of his power to keep the cave from collapsing over them, Filbert continued in a state of trance, struggling to keep control of his mind. Filbert… the anger… the rage… feed from its power Filbert

"Nooooooo!" Filbert screamed as he charged his way towards the centre of the pentagram.

"Filbert, wait!" Ephesos shouted, as he tried in vain to make way through the pack of undead around him.

As soon as Filbert stepped on the pentagram a charge of dark energy shook his mortal body to the bone, throwing Filbert on his back right outside the pentagram.

"Quick! Bind him on one of the platforms and dispose of his weapons!" Orloki barked at the nearby monks.

As the first monk reached Filbert, the young warrior sprang miraculously back to life taking energy from who knows where to kick the monk straight in the face. It was a short lived victory for Filbert however, as he was soon surrounded and pinned down by the monks around him. "Ephesos!" Filbert screamed.

"Filbert!" Replied Ephesos amongst a bulk of undead, who slowly but steadily pushed the drained Druid towards a corner.

OOC: I'm back, time to speed things to an ending. Better late than never.

IC:

"Melora?" Edith walked towards the slim figure of the drow.

"Where were you?" Melora inquired, "And what is Cain doing here? I thought he was going to wait outside the runes?"

"What do you mean? We never passed the runes, we took a side path before the black ice fell on us." Replied Edith, somewhat confused. "The path led us to some kind of trophy room where we were ambushed by undead and…"

Melora immediately drew her weapons and adopted a defensive position between Edith and Cain.

"Melora! What are you doing, put the..." Melora quickly interrupted Edith's talk, "Fools! You have taken a side path yes, but the path was simply another way of getting you and Cain inside Orloki's prison range. The runes are simply the symbolic representation of an invisible control zone. You may have not have passed over a rune, but that does not mean you are not within his area of imprisonment.

"That cannot be, Cain helped me, he… helped… me…" Suddenly Edith's voice was weakened. A second later, she fell unconscious on the black ice.

Melora gave a quick glance at Edith's body, "What have you done to her hell spawn!"

Cain remained perfectly still and detached, "Poison. An undead weapon hit her a few minutes ago. If we stay here any longer, we will share her f..."

"You lie! I know you have been possessed by Orloki!" Cried Melora.

Cain calmly replied, "I have not been possessed by Orloki," Cain calmly walked towards Melora "Besides, what would you alone do if I were indeed possessed? Pinch me with a dagger?"

"Don't move any closer." Melora replied.
Cain stopped one meter in front of Melora. "If we don't do something, Edith will die."

"Not that you care." Melora replied.

Cain grinned, "Fine. Let's stay here. I will get to see how you heal Edith's poisoning, while fighting of a group of undead at the same time."

Surely enough, both Cain and Melora could hear the sounds of armour coming from the tunnel behind them. Melora cursed in her tongue as she moved over Edith’s poisoned body. With one hand she felt her neck and raised her eyelids, Melora recognized the poison, she could heal it, but it would take longer than the seconds it would take the undead to reach them.

Melora's , mind was reeling, They could run, she could tell Cain to carry Edith to safety but what if Cain killed the human? She could leave them both and attempt to flee through the icy passages, but if Cain was truly Orloki then he could easily trap her in the ice. Melora soon realized she had no option but to trust Cain. Slowly she lowered her weapons and kneeled next to Edith.

"I will heal the human, you will hold the undead." She replied, almost resigned.

As soon as Melora left her weapons for herbs the bulky fist of Cain fell like a brick on Melora’s shoulder who immediately dropped the medicines. With her other arm she lashed a hidden dagger at Cain who grasped the slim wrist of the Melora with ease.

"You bastard, I knew it!" Melora spat.

"You know nothing." Cain replied as he punched Melora's stomach.

Drow blood spat out of Melora's mouth as she cursed Cain. "The others… the others will find you…"

"Indeed. They will join you soon enough, I have someone working on that." With that, Cain released another heavy hit on Melora, this time on her head. The last thing she could hear was Cain's demonic voice commanding the undead around them. "Strip them of their weapons and bind them!" Then darkness fell around her.

Melora opened her eyes to the light of a chandelier hanging right above her. Needless to say, she was confused but also drowsy. Poison? Opium of Shargali maybe? As her head turned she realized she was on her back, bonded in chains to stone platform, Edith was beside her on another platform, still pale and unconscious from the poison, both were stripped to their basic clothing. Armours, weapons? They were nowhere to be seen. As Melora looked around she noticed other empty stone platforms arranged in circle around a pentagram, in the centre of the pentagram stood Cain, apparently focused in meditation. Around the ritualistic setting stood a dozen robed figures holding torches, behind them, a large band of heavily armoured undead. As her mind struggled to remain conscious, Melora uttered to herself, "What now."

WOW!!! Argentina played the best football this world cup has seen. This is now my favourite match, not because of the drama (Like the Japan vs Australia match) but because of the sheer beauty and eye candy displayed today.

The second goal was  ...what was it, like 23 perfect passes before the goal?? Best goal of the WC by far.

Football at its best. If you still don't like football after a match like that then you are helpless.

Ephesos, sorry about that mistake, you can remove that IC now. :P We do get confused with your druid fixation. In my defense, it has been quite a while since I last posted.

About the gallery, MSW mentioned it was at least 30 feet wide. In my previous post, it had moved almost 3 feet in about 5 min. of conversation (including moments of silence and thought). That gives the party roughly 50 min. to find a way to stop it. Not much, but then again, we need to finish this and I figured that would be a good excuse to hasten the pace of the RP.

Also, I figured the ice material would be the shifting force behind the moving stone.

IC:

Cain seemed oblivious to the discussion the mortals were having until he overheard the druid's suggestion. "We'll stay here. Let him come to us".

There was an awkward silence in the group.

"No." Cain plainly snapped the tension in a way only a somber demonic voice can do.

"No?" Sequoia replied, quickly walking towards Cain and fearlessly gazing into his eyes. "No you say!? … Do you wish to go in there and be at the mercy of that demon?! … More than you may already be? Who knows what will happen to us as soon as we cross those runes. His spirit can already cloud minds and move mountains from a distance, what horrors will he be able to summon as we cross those runes!"

Cain smiled. His smile slowly turned into a grin and the grin into a dark laughter that could have well been the laughter of Orloki himself.

"What is so funny?" Tuulentekija demanded.

Cain remained perfectly still, staring at the dark icy walls around them. "You plan and scheme like you have a choice."

There was a brief moment of silence before Cain spoke again. "Have you been so blind all along? Especially you druid, I thought you would've noticed by now."

Cain turned back to face the dark walls around the chamber and walked towards one of them, he stopped about three feet away from it.

"The Mountain of Shadows…" Cain smirked.

"What are you going on about tainted one." Asked Melora somewhat impatiently.

Cain slowly reached for one of the old dry bones around gallery floor. He stood up, gave it a little whirl in the air and then threw it with mighty force against the dark translucent wall in front of him. To the surprise of the group, the bone did not crumble or fall, it just staid there, stuck flat in the impact spot. To further astound the party, the bone slowly but steadily merged with the icy wall. In less than a minute the bone was part of the sinister decoration of skeletons, weapons, armors and trinkets trapped inside the icy gallery.

Cain turned to the party. "You have all felt the walls of this gallery closing in. I tell you that was not a simple feeling. The walls of this gallery ARE closing in. I felt the subtle waves of demonic power touching this material as soon as the Curator left."

Sure enough, the three feet of separation between Cain and the wall seemed to have shortened by almost two feet. Soon the faces of the party turned to anxiety.

"Like Tuulentekija mentioned, this … thing … this substance that decorates almost every crack in this mountain is what allows Orloki to control the shape of this mountain. This whole gallery is made of this material; if we stay we will eventually become part of this morbid gallery."

Filbert suddenly looked terrified and turned to Sequoia. "But, Sequoia, surely you can control this substance, stop it somehow, we can't die like this!"

"Fool!" Cain spat. "Sequoia has no power to match that of Orloki, he may be able to stop it for a while, but Orloki's power does not fade or consume him. He will eventually overpower him anyway. There is only one way and that is forward."

"So you expect us to go and fight Orloki in his own terms?" Lisha inquired.

"That... or find the knowledge of this stone." Cain replied. "If what Tuulentekija mentioned is true, these Death Hawks managed to enter Orloki's chambers and steal this knowledge from him. If it was done once, it can be done again. Once you find this knowledge you will be able to control this material and in consequence the mountain. Only then will you be able to defeat Orloki without fear of having the mountain collapsing upon you."

The party remained silent for a moment, pondering on the possibilities.

"One more thing," Cain added, "I will not be going with you."

"What!" Tuulentekija snapped.

"As soon as I cross those runes…" Cain stared at the rune inscriptions across the gallery. "I will wait here."

"But what if we do not find the knowledge? What if we cannot stop the icy walls from closing in on you?" Edith asked.

"I will die... or I will be forced to cross those runes and free Orloki once again." Cain gave a brief glance at Lisha. "Not that you care anyway." He walked away from the gallery wall, which was only a foot away from him at that point, towards the runes in the centre of the gallery. The runes glowed slightly as he got near.

"I don't have much time, go after the Curator, find the knowledge or any other knowledge that may help you defeat Orloki." Cain slowly sat down in front of the runes. "…and another thing, be prepared, if what Tuulentekija said was true, Orloki will make sure the knowledge is not stolen from him for a second time."

Australia already played Japan (they won 3:1, one of my favourite games so far), next for the aussies is Brazil... no comments.

Also, I hope Ecuador cuts through the weak German defense and take top spot of GROUP A. Then we should have a mouth watering clash between GROUP A runner-ups Germany and GROUP B winners England.

I hope the aussies enjoy the beautifull game more and more, they have a good team, not the most talented (except for the captain, that guy has some class) but with a lot of heart, I mean 3 goals in 6 min, WOW!

Good luck against Brazil!

I have the feeling Italy won't make it past the first round. They always seem to start slow and his group is not one that will be forgiving.

IC:

Those who had weapons took them out and adopted combat positions. Cain, who used no weapons but his brute force, remained immobile. Whatever it is, it's not Orloki.

That something soon reached the end of the staircase, its silhouette resembling a tall humanoid figure. The figure started walking towards the party, its slow but steady footsteps eerily echoing around the chamber. Suddenly the figure stopped about fifteen meters away from the party. As the ominous light behind him faded the figure was revealed to the party.

An impossibly decrepit old man in long purple robes stood before them. His face was so decrepit that mummified would not be an exaggerated description of his form. What seemed remarkable however, was the fact that his body stood straight and tall, as if under those robes the body of a young man was hidden.

"Hak Ereshia." Said the old man in an old yet loud voice. He followed his strange greeting with more of the same incomprehensible language. Cain quickly looked around the party to see if anyone had understood any part of what the old man said, but no one seemed to know, or no one cared to translate.

The old man, having noticed the oblivious expressions in the party, closed his eyes and mumbled what appeared to be a brief incantation. He stared at the party again and started talking, this time the language was understood.

"Welcome visitors. Excuse my original attempt to communicate; it has been… very long indeed since the last time I spoke with any outsider. Time has passed quickly outside Orloki's chambers and many things of old have been lost, including language which has… mutated into this crude tongue of yours." The old man chuckled whilst mumbling something in his ancient tongue.

"Who are you? Where is Orloki!" Shouted an agitated Filbert.

"I am not deaf child, your manners are less than pleasing. Be glad master Orloki wants you alive."

"We are tired of these games, we want to see him now." Edith demanded.

The old man chuckled, "Oh, but you will see him, yes, you will. I will take you to him."

"Who, what are you? Why should we trust you?" Asked Lisha, still holding her daggers.

"Who am I? Who am I…I," the old man seemed to drift in time for a moment, "call me Curator, that is how master Orloki calls me." The word curator seemed to spark something in Melora's eyes.

"You still haven't answered why we should trust you." Lisha insisted.

The old man chuckled. "You don't have any other option. You can either follow me as good children or I will carry you to the presence of Orloki myself."

"Take us to Orloki." Said Cain. The party glared at Cain; surprised he had accepted the old man's invitation so quickly.

"Ah…you must be Cain." The old man smiled, threatening to crack his decrepit face. "You must be the mortal who stole from my master… I can feel the power of demonkind inside you...yes. You have no idea the power you have…the possibilities…the…" the old man paused for a moment and then resumed, "Orloki wishes to see you all… specially you Cain."

Cain remained silent. On the outside he appeared as calm as always but on the inside his deep fear was now confirmed. Orloki had been playing with them all along, moving them, probing them. Since the miraculous escape from death when fighting the four-armed demon, Cain knew something was very wrong. Now here he was, at the very gates of Orloki's chambers. It was at this point when Cain noticed the line of runes between him and the old man before him. It was at this point when Orloki's scheme was finally revealed to him.

Orloki's Chambers… of course, I should've known. You can't escape these chambers. That is why your spirit was pulled towards the chamber when I broke the crystal prison, which is why you want us to go to you. That is why you want me, a mortal vessel to escape the demon bounding runes, a vessel to pour your demonic spirit into while remaining a powerful and immortal demon.

Cain chuckled at the irony of the situation; in the process of stealing the power of a demon he had not only released him from his relatively weak crystal prison but also provided the demon a way to escape the bigger, stronger, prison; The Mountain Chambers, almost as old as the mountains themselves. Whatever the treasures inside these chambers are, they must be valuable indeed. Making these powerful runes and then summoning Orloki to guard it… A dangerous mixture of fear and ambition was now growing into Cain, not so much for his imminent encounter with Orloki, but because of whatever powerful knowledge awaited beyond Orloki's Chamber.

OOC: Note that I haven't moved the party anywhere.

Cain let out a scream of anger and frustration "We have no time for this nonsense! Lisha, you deal with this fool as you see fit."

As Cain turned his back on the party he gave one last glare at Filbert. "Be warned, one more stupid act on his part..." He paused for a few seconds before continuing his march up the dark tunnel. In any other situation, Cain would have murdered Filbert a long time ago, but deep within, he knew this young fool had a part to play in the events ahead.

Cain slowly opened his eyes. The adrenaline rush he had a few moments ago in that weird hell of a parallel dimension was over. He had escaped and so did Edith. As he surveyed the scene before him, his mind could not help but compare his current state to the one he had when he was stabbed by the Caecus hell spawn. He felt wounds all across his body, not as deep or as plentiful as the ones he had suffered in the hand of the four-armed demon, but still dangerous in their own way. Most of the wounds, he could feel, were already healing by the powers of his dark body. But there was another wound that ran deeper than the physical cut, he could sense it all over him, it was in his blood, it was burning him from within, slowing him almost to the point of mortal men.

As he looked around he could see Lisha standing on guard, the assassins had her eyes fixed in the darkness below, scanning for something. He could also see she had claw marks on her cheek; his claws. On the floor next to him was Edith, apparently not yet awakened from her trip to the netherworld.

Cain smiled. The assassin had done well, he knew his free demonic form would be dangerous, also stupid and reckless, but dangerous nonetheless. Cain was glad the assassin had not refrained from using blades and poison.

Cain groaned as he slowly stood up, drawing the attention of a surprised Lisha, who now pointed her daggers at Cain. Every part of Cain's body was now pain, not an unbearable pain, but enough to delay movement. It felt as if he had slept under a pile of rocks. It was the poison, however, that would stay with him, and it was certainly the lethal variety. Cain could sense the energies of his demonic body fighting for survival, energies that would otherwise go for agility and speed. At the rate his body was recovering all physical wounds would probably fade within the hour, but he knew the poison would be there for the long haul.

A mortal life time perhaps? Maybe more? Cain cared little; he was immortal now, what is a hundred years in the eyes of an immortal. He smiled. For Cain it was all worth it. Now that his soul was finally one, his demonic side would be under total control. What he had lost in his physical form he had gained in spirit and mind, traits that would prove invaluable against powerful beings like Orloki.

Lisha lowered her blades when she recognized the smug smile and the sharp glare on Cain.

"You're back." Lisha said plainly.

Cain stretched his arms and twisted his neck. Ignoring the assassin as usual, Cain walked by her and stared curiously at the path below. His eyes, better adapted at darkness than Lisha's, could clearly see the young humanoid figure of Filbert staring back at them. His presence immediately stirred Cain's fury back to life.

"Have you not learned your lesson fool!?" Cain roared towards Filbert.

Cain stared at Edith's body for a moment, there was something familiar about her. Something within Edith was calling Cain, luring him somehow.

"Well? Can you restore her Cain?" Asked Lisha.

Cain responded plainly as he placed his right hand over Edith's forehead "I will see what I can do".

The moment Cain's hand touched Edith's forehead he immediately pulled back, as if he had just received an energy shock of some sort.

"It can't be…" Muttered Cain.

"What's wrong?" Asked Lisha worriedly.

"Nothing," Cain lied, "a field force of some sort was left by Orloki, nothing I can't break." In reality, what Cain felt was totally different. He saw himself, his former self. He remained immobile for a moment, unsure as to how his new demonic presence would react to an encounter with his old mortal soul.

Cain moved his hand towards Edith once again; this time he felt the pulling. For a brief second he was one with his former self, he could see his weak mortal body, tormented, imprisoned. He could see Edith imprisoned with him, Cain pulled his hand back once again.

Lisha remained quiet this time, clearly uncomfortable with Cain's reactions.

Cain pondered his chances for a moment. What he had seed in Edith's mind brought him fears but also hope. His mortal soul was not lost, neither was it controlled by Orloki. All this time, Cain feared what Orloki could do with part of his mortal soul, he feared submitting to Orloki's power. Now Cain knew Orloki had no control over him in any way, he had his old mortal soul, yes, but he could not tame it or bend it to his will, instead, he imprisoned it just as he did with Edith's soul. If Cain managed to free both Edith's soul and his own he would finally be complete, Cain would never again fear some other power using his mortal soul against him.

But what if I fail. Cain shrugged; he knew that while he was away, his demonic side would take over his mortal body. There was no telling what would happen then. Cain cared little as to what would happened to the assassin, should his demonic part decide to slay her, what Cain feared was what he could do to Edith. If Edith's corporal form died before he could get himself and Edith out of the prison they would cease to exist.

He gave one last look to Lisha. "Prepare yourself mortal, whatever happens, don't let me slay Edith."

Lisha stared at him incredulously, before she could say anything Cain spoke again.

"Don't worry about using your petty tools against me if you need to, I will survive." Cain's hand touched Edith's forehead and with that, Cain's soul left his demonic body and merged with his mortal self in the planes beyond.

- - -

Edith jumped back startled when the skinny fellow she recognized as Cain started trembling, when the trembling ceased, Edith could see a stronger, bulkier, more determined Cain, the Cain she had met at the village.

Cain looked around for a couple of seconds and proceeded to speak with his unusually plain deep voice, "Edith. We don't have much time, we must escape this prison."

"Wha…Whe…"

"There is no time to explain. We must leave this place before we vanish forever."

- - -

"Cain, are you ok?" Asked Lisha as she carefully approached an immobile Cain.

What happened next was too quick for even Lisha to notice clearly, a thick reddish object, which Lisha could only infer to be Cain's arm, was thrown against her chest. Her arms acted out on instinct as she covered from the blow. Her trained effort prevented fractures but the laws of physics demanded Lisha's body to thrown a few feet by the sheer force of the hit.

"I take that as a no." Said Lisha as she quickly recovered to her feet.

OOC: The rest is up to you guys, David and MSW feel free to use Cain as you see fit, I won't be posting for a while.

"Wait! Tuulentekija has fallen!" Cried someone from behind.

What now. Cain stopped his march and walked to the end of the line. Soon everyone was gathered around the unconscious body of Tuulentekija.

"What happened?" Asked Cain.
"I don't know, he asked me for something to ease his headache when he suddenly collapsed." Edith mentally replied, somewhat plainly.

Cain took the moment to look at the gathered party and analyse their reactions to this new event, all of them seemed genuinely worried about something, although he doubted this something was Tuulentekija. All of them except Edith, Cain tried to confirm his suspicions by throwing another question at Edith.

"He was wounded by the possessed Filbert, was he not?" Cain inquired.
Edith nodded.
"It seems to me the wound has more than what meets the eye. Tainted weapons do damage even after the original cut has healed. Edith, you are a capable alchemist, do you have anything that may save this warrior?" Cain asked.
Edith seemed doubtful for a moment. "I… I'm afraid his wound is beyond my capabilities." The answered echoes in everyone's mind.

Cain had the confirmation he desired, he knew the wound was a dangerous one, but it was nothing an alchemist like Edith could not deal with. Cain walked towards Edith and, to the party’s surprise, lifted her by the neck. Edith let out a suffocated scream.

"Let her go!" Screamed Sequoia, Lisha held him back.
"Well, well, well, the alchemist has recovered her voice." Cain said mockingly.
Edith suddenly started laughing, the laugh was one of the most disturbing laughs Cain had ever heard, from a woman's laugh to a man's laugh and finally to an outright demonic laughter echoed by the cavern around them.
"Fools!" Orloki spat. "You can kill this mortal but I will never leave her body unless I choose to!" Orloki broke in laughter once again.
"Enough games demon." Said Melora, "What are you waiting for…"

The demon resumed his laughter, apparently Orloki found the situation highly amusing, which annoyed Cain even more and resulted in the throwing of Edith's body against the cave wall.

"Cain, Stop! You are falling into his game!" Shouted Lisha.

Cain managed to refrain from repeating the beating. At least it stopped the laughter.

Edith slowly stood up. "How strong you have become mortal. How does it feel to steal the powers of the mighty Orloki? You know… I will have them back one way or another."

This time it was Cain that laughed.

OOC: I'll leave the interrogation of Orloki to someone else; this conversation and whatever happens after it may prove decisive for the outcome of this RP. I have already influenced this RP enough so anyone else is free to finish this interrogation.

Very nice pictures miss.spy, that was one of the things missing on most scenarios released so far. It's amazing how a nice piece of drawing can brighten up a scenario. Congrats.

Btw, that picture with the dead kids was nasty...did anyone see you draw this? I'm curious about how they reacted. :)

EDIT: Miss, hehe, sorry.

OOC: Ups, forgot Tuulentekija had no mask, I'll fix that. As for the outdoor wandering of Cain, that's ok, Cain was following the party outdoors but then found them in a cave entrance that had stairs leading up to it (mentioned by Filbert when he was walking down towards Cain). The other paths passed by Cain were new ones made by the mountain (Orloki). On a side note, MSW, try to keep posts a bit shorter. What I do is when I finish I go through it again and delete lines or paragraphs I could do without. Good twist btw.

IC: Cain was surprised at how quickly the whole party agreed to join him and was ready to go, he had thought they would have rested for a couple of hours or discussed to a longer extent the presence of a half-demon in their party. All in all, Cain had no complaints, he wanted a party and he had it, just like he planed. Why then was he still worried? His mind was clearly not calm, the moment he started leading the party up the tunnel questions crossed his mind and none of them were to be taken lightly.

Will the mortals be enough? Will they too succumb to Orloki like Filbert did? Will I succumb? Will they slay me after we finish with Orloki? Is this whole thing a mistake? If I don't kill Orloki now, how long will it take to gather a stronger party? Would Orloki allow me to escape?

As Cain's worries grew, so did his pace. Before he knew it, he had made quite a gap between the members of the party, only the Drow seemed to have the pace to exceed him in these rough cave floors. The assassin was not far behind.

Cain stopped for a while to take a look around. The cave walls were much wider here, unsurprisingly; Orloki's presence was also growing stronger, only this time he felt it all around, as if the demon was both above and below him. Cain's worries returned.

What are you planning Orloki? Where are you taking us? You clearly want us to get somewhere alive, you could have blocked our path long ago, why wait? Filbert, the Uruk-Hai… those were no match for us. Are you testing us? Observing us? No, it has to be something else.

Cain's thoughts were interrupted again when he felt the strong presence of Orloki, this time right behind him. He turned quickly, expecting to see some demon or spiritual projection of Orloki, instead, he saw the party catching up with him, gathering behind him expectantly.

"What's wrong?" Questioned the Drow, sounding like the she expected a confirmation of something.
Cain glared at the party with his sharp yellow pupils which contrasted sharply with the darkness of the caves. He could feel Orloki, he was right there, among them. Why can't the mortals feel him?
"Well?" Asked the female assassin, who seemed truthfully oblivious as to what Cain was doing.
True to the personality of his mortal past, Cain was brief in his response. "Move faster." He said, as he turned and continued the march up the mountain.

Cain could feel the demon behind him, somewhere in the party. His presence was subtle, too subtle for the mortals to notice, but Cain was certain Orloki had gained some form of control over one of them. He refused to reveal this to them, believing it would only break the little trust that kept them together, would they believe him anyway?

So this is your plan Orloki. Weaken the mortals and then use them to break us apart First Filbert…now someone else…

He glared back at the party as they struggled behind him.

Where are you?
