And Aran, I suppose if anyone really wants the rankings, they can just count the stupid things by hand, checking every thread in every forum for posts falling within the relevant dates, for all members.

I mean, it's not like there's anyone here who has a shortage of free time...

That's not "nicely recursive." That's "inelegantly recursive and redundant."

Carroll also specified that it was not intended to have an answer. I linked to a full explanation in another thread. (Sorry, I don't have the link handy.)

I think his final postcount was around 200, so he wouldn't have made it even remotely near the top, this month.

In case anyone hasn't figured this out yet, Eddie is not a newb. He's some oldbie acting really bizarre. Just ignore him.

Salmon made a typo, intentionally or not. Several days ago, Aran had about 380, so my guess is his monthly total was 412ish.

Aran's post was very heavy and I understand the feeling that he may be overreacting, but I think he's quite legit. Jeff doesn't care about spam, but it does decrease the entertainment value of the boards, really.

And there was a lot of heavy posting this month. IIRC, the *entire* top ten had post counts over 200.

That ought to be in the constitution, really. If you lie to start a war, or ignore a hurricane, or use the third person, boom. Corn up the ass.

That link to previous poetry topics scared me a little. Meanwhile, allow me to present one of the few online tests that's actually worthwhile. The results are quite amusing:

quote:
If they told you I'm mad, then they lied.
I'm odd, but it isn't compulsive.
I'm the triolet, bursting with pride;
If they told you I'm mad, then they lied.
No, it isn't obsessive. Now hide
All the spoons or I might get convulsive.
If they told you I'm mad then they lied.
I'm odd, but it isn't compulsive.

What Poetry Form Are You?
I also recommend the What Pre-1985 Video Game Character Are You? quiz, at the same site. (I am a Thrust-ship.)

Well, they've been ongoing. More than ongoing, really, since random ones seem to start up 24/7. (I hate that phrase, but it's too useful. Sigh.)

The times of the scheduled ones will presumably change if another time seems better, especially the Saturday one. Or maybe they will disappear entirely, as some have suggested.

The Origins of YOUR Custom Title in General

My title took me rather by surprise. Like Aran's and Kel's, it's an Alice reference, and I think it's quite appropriate -- chosen no doubt for my tendency to pass time by putting square pegs in round holes and laughing madly at the results.

I think there's also an argument to be made that the three of us acquired those titles by being the biggest analytical wankers here.

Dikiyoba, this last part made me laugh, a lot. I don't know how, but you have somehow managed to replicate the exact mix of passive-aggressive emotional displays and unintentional camp that makes me crack up when I play games like Final Fantasy 4 (II, in the US). This last part kept making me think of the hissy fit Rydia throws near the end ("Everybody's dying!"). Death is even represented in the same way, by having the character's sprite flicker and then disappear. Keep up the good work.

I switched the main time listed to the time zone for which it was most convenient, and most likely to draw the most members. It wouldn't make much sense to announce a chat for 2 AM GMT, would it? The accuracy could be verified by noticing that the time difference between each of the four listed time zones remained constant for both chats, and each was listed once for each chat.

You asked what I meant by Eastern, and commented that Eastern is not GMT. Therefore, you got answers explaining what Eastern is and what its relationship to GMT is. If you meant to ask, "Do you really mean Eastern time, in the second chat listing?" then I don't know why you wouldn't just ask that, instead of the question you did ask.

If you bother to follow the link, you'll find it has a handy table listing all the time zones.

This week's scheduled General Chats (AIM, "spidweb" room) will be:

Thursday 3/16 at 9 pm Eastern Time
(= 6 pm pacific, 2 am GMT, ~12 noon australia)

Saturday 3/18 at 4 pm GMT
(= 8 am pacific, 11 am eastern, ~2 am australia)

For the weekday chat, earlier looks like it works better, so it's earlier. The Saturday chat is at a popular time that should work well for Euros. (Can you call people that, too, or just the currency? :P ) In future weeks we might try holding the Saturday one ~four hours earlier to better accomodate Aussies, though I'm afraid that'll reduce attendance by a lot.

It's too bad the transcript of my first TM channeling experiment had to get censored, though. That was quality.

If Dikiyoba is setting up what I think he's setting up, the next installments of the script should be quite interesting indeed. *nods with approval*

LOL. I'm glad you see the light.

However, you must agree that it would be very hard to schedule chats at times where everyone is available. So leaving the window open would let everyone be a part of wherever chat is going on, and it would work around everyone’s schedule.
I suspect that most people here either can't or (hopefully) don't want to sit in front of their computer for hours at a time with a chat window open just in case a spidweb chat gets going. Aran is an exception, of course :)
