Clearly, RW is represented by the Minotaurs.

Skribbane would be the canisters, which possibly makes Alorael Barzahl, which is hillarious.

Geneforge 2 and Geneforge 3 are sometimes accused of photocopying the plot of Geneforge 1. Well, it turns out that they are not the only blatant copies of that story... the Spiderweb Forums also ripped it off!

The powerful civilization of the Shapers (Jeff Vogel) had developed the magical ability of shaping creatures (the Exile trilogy). Legions of fawning serviles (fans) were created to serve them. The Shapers prospered.

One of their most ambitious projects was the Geneforge (Blades of Exile), which enabled anyone, even a servile, to use Shaper magic and even to shape their own creatures (scenarios). But the Geneforge was dangerous. It did not always work as expected (bugs) and caused insanity (inexplicable, bizarre bugs). The Shapers had moved onto other projects (Avernum) and decided to leave the Geneforge behind on Sucia Isle (the forums). They also left a number of serviles behind, with little support from their masters.

Eventually, some of the serviles grew bitter and resentful of the Geneforge's creators, who had abandoned them and had not treated them as equals. The Obeyers, serviles who still held the word of the Shapers as gold, would have pointed out that they weren't equals -- the Shapers had created the Geneforge, whereas they could only use it.

One day a servile said he was taking back his freedom, and he was struck down (banned) by guards (mods). Thus the Takers (the Jeff haters) were born. The Takers flourished under the leadership of some warped drayks (TM, Alec, Djur, and so on) who loved to incite violence. Their hatred of the Shapers grew ever stronger and less rational.

Not all of the serviles hated the Shapers. The Awakened delighted in the use of servile magic, but still thought that the Shapers might be friends; their leader was Ellhrah (Drakefyre). The Obeyers, however, did not last -- they were slaughtered (flamed out of existence) by the Takers.

When the Shapers again came into contact with Sucia Isle, it was not surprising that a violent conflict broke out...

Those humorous cameos have been everywhere forever. Some of them are funny, but honestly, it got to be a bit much. A Small Rebellion has that South Park town. I mean, come on.

Oh my god, this forum hasn't gone crazy. How refreshing.

I'm trying to figure out if Thralni's two threats to Ed were redundant or not...

Dikiyoba, that was quite amusing. If a little bit perplexing. :)

Alec, I expected better from you, too. Your appropriation of his words for this cause reeks.

Eugene Debs crusaded on behalf of people who were treated unfairly. But he crusaded on behalf of those who were born into injustice. He fought for those who were born into a working class that knew more dreadful conditions than ours does today. He fought for those whose entire lives were being manipulated and exploited, and for those who were in jail. He did not fight for the "rights" of highly privileged, highly educated young men with an abundance of leisure time who were given a mild censure by the officers of a club they were never forced to participate in.

Eugene Debs actively denounced racism. He refused to speak before segregated unions, and he held close the ideal of a "brotherhood of men." I doubt he would be too interested in the case of someone who was censured because he tried again and again to disrupt a community, often through using hate language like "f--," "n-----" and "b----" for its shock value.

Given that there were about 5 years of Spiderweb games before Avernum 1, your explanation isn't that great.

In your script, Kelandon makes a grammatical error... that makes the whole thing inconceivable.

:P

Edit: make that two grammatical errors.

As Thuryl mentioned in another thread, TM was not banned for changing his sig. He was banned for various things he has done and was warned about, including evading the swear filter.

I like TM and am sorry to see him banned, but it shouldn't be surprising AT ALL that someone who ridicules others without prompting and throws hate language around for effect is temporarily banned.

Very interesting idea.
SW games don't really lend themselves to pacifism, but I wonder what length you could take this to.

Three of the five dragons in Exile and Avernum had gender-changing issues. At least the serviles were relatively minor characters...

A4 Item Script in Tech Support

In those scripts, objects that are defined get the characteristics that are given to them after begindefineitem (such as "it_stats_to_affect_0 = 0" or whatever), but they ALSO inherit the characteristics of another item. If "import = x" is used, they inherit the characteristics of x (overwriting any characteristics that the item has already been given). If no import line is there, they inherit the characteristics of the previous item in the file.

All rings (except for item 171, the platinum ring) import item 170, the gold ring (or another ring which itself imports the gold ring). (You might say the plain gold ring is the master ring...) If item 170 is no longer the gold ring, they no longer important the characteristics that make them rings!

This is why editing the script files is not safe if you aren't extremely careful.
