You know, maybe Nico has a point. Perhaps the list should have been a list of "friends with benefits" rather than "couples."

I have to imagine that the laptop and PSP constituencies have little overlap. They're aimed at completely different consumers (and children of consumers).

Speaking of obvious causes and drawn lines, I beseech whatever gods have any pity in their hearts to please, please, please end the the reign of terror of all those questions asking whether you think serviles should be free or not. In G1, it was a nice touch. In G2, it was a bit old, but at least the sects were retooled somewhat. In G3, it gave a new meaning to stale and repetitive.

I'm sure there will be sects and some kind of PC freedom of choice and expression of opinion but good god, at least get new questions.

...sorry. </rant>

I do think that I will be quite upset if the Taker/Shaper war does not end in Gf4, however
I'm not sure I have any hope on that front. Given how overpowered the powers in the war have become, it would take a plot twist of pretty gigantic magnitude to end it. Like end of Nethergate gigantic (ok, that wasn't a twist, but you get the idea). That doesn't seem likely.

The war is a problem, though. One of the reasons that the huge Empire-Avernum War worked so well in E/A is that it only lasted for one game. It was huge, it was detailed, but it did not drag on and on like a carcass hanging from a speeding chariot.

Check Alorael's status page, Ephesos, and remember in the future to be skeptical when you are dealing with a wily rose-painter like Aran. ;)

I have a vague memory of some shareware game that was basically Street Fighter/Mortal Kombat with stick figures.

ALORAEL vs DIKIYOBA

FINISH HIM!

Ash makes a good point. Mocking someone's religion is pretty offensive (and pretty guaranteed to start a flameskirmish). Ironically, Eldibs's grandstanding attacks on TM simply distracted attention from the original statement.

No, because a triangle also has three points. (Well, technically it has infinite points... but that's not the point.)

Yes, and Geneforge breaks the FPS mold. Point being?

..actually, playing as an Agent is rather similar, sometimes...

Do you distinctly remember checking timestamps? On this newfangled internet, stuff gets added to, and other stuff gets outdated.

Obviously, the demographics only counted people who answered the survey, and they only counted people who answered the survey BEFORE they were tabulated! C'mon folks.

Right, instead you deal with it by proclaiming to large numbers of bystanders that you're better than him. That's real mature.

I put you with Lenar at the end, when we were tired of trying to come up with good fits for either of you. There was a bit of a scuffle over who would get to claim Dareva -- I think you may have missed that part -- and after various threats involving all-spidweb orgies, we left it at her and Marlenny.

This being a big joke, I don't think anyone paid attention to pre-existing "couples." As for sexual orientation, well, the fact that 90% of you are straight men made that kind of hard to honor. Various fetishes, on the other hand, came up quite often during the chat.

Perhaps each sect of Aloraelism should have it's own partner. That just leaves the problem of how to handle the Unitarian Aloversalists.

Disclaimer: Now may be a good time to run.

Last night there was a spontaneous Spiderweb chat, which was rather unfortunately productive. During this chat, it was decided that we should do something about the Spiderweb marriage rate of 0%, so a matchmaking project began. For some reason, I volunteered to be secretary.

Disclaimer #2: I am personally responsible for only those matches that amuse you. If you take exception to any, blame Marlenny, Dareva, Tyranicus, Thuryl, *i, and the others who did the matching. :P

TM + Jewels
Kelandon + Synergy
Aran + Drakey
Dareva + Marlenny ("because Kelandon deserves to finally find a lesbian on the board")
Slarty + Salmon
Alorael + Dikiyoba
Tyranicus + Ben
Alec + Sarachim
Thuryl + Thralni
Ash + Kingy
SupaNik + Nicothodes
Student of Trinity + Archmage Alex
*i + Saunders
Lady Davida + Khoth
Lenar Labs + Ephesos

and the match to end all earthly matches

Imban + RW

Thralni, if aliens ever come and try to steal our thoughts, I want you on my team, 'cause damn but they're gonna have a hard time getting you to let go of yours!

edit: that was probably not the clearest idiom to use here

To be fair, the details at the END of each GF game are significantly different. Unfortunately, these details are at the VERY end. They have no impact on 90% of the game.

$45 still beats $75, and that was a perfectly good price in the first place.

If I'm not mistaken, none of the game prices have changed since their original release. I want to say the Exile series was $25 each, and Avernum and Geneforge stuck with this price point. Nethergate was higher, because (1) it the time of its release it was a lot more fancied up than any other spidweb game, and (2) it comes on CD, which costs extra for the other games.

As for BoE, which is the exception -- it was $25 or $30 originally, I think -- I can understand ignoring it. The people who would get into it are more likely to get into BoA these days, and it doesn't really make sense to bundle it with anything.
