LOL, Aran.

Thralni, here's the thing. Not all humans are created equal, and not all newbies are either. Now we have two cases here.

Case #1:
Person does annoying things
Person gets insulted
Person responds by whining and creating drama
Person tries to obtain his desires through force ("[Thread closed]")
Person lies to the community

Case #2:
Person does annoying things
Person gets insulted
Person ignores insults
Person does annoying things, but not nearly as many of them

I think this makes the difference pretty clear. Recognizing that not all similar things are exactly the same does not make someone a hypocrite.

Also, while I am as cynical as Aran about humanity, I *am* inclined to have some sympathy for a ten-year-old. Do you know how annoying I was when I was ten? Very. Thralni, I am guessing you were at least as annoying as I was, considering how stubborn you are...

Thralni, I didn't "taunt" Ed, or even pester him -- I simply pointed out that he was blatantly lying.

I have already commented that my (conditional) support for arghhhhhhhhh is based on the fact that he is adapting to the community, as opposed to Ed, who tried to make the community adapt to his needs through whining.

I hate to keep sticking up for the fellow, but he really has been making more sense. Give him a chance.

Hmm. I'm half tempted to start using horrible grammar and punctuation in all of my posts in protest against all the arghhhhhhhhh-bashing.

In your case, I imagine "against the wall" would be more in the sense of a schoolyard bully holding some poor boy up against the wall by the back of his shirt.

Always have a small but increasing percentage chance of just going bananas with every servile interaction after using canisters.
Percentage chances just don't work. Save-and-reload has been a customary option for far too long, and most gamers these days -- even those who don't identify with Red Mage -- will use it without thinking, especially in the case of annoying effects like attacking friendly characters.

I agree with SoT. Giving the canisters positive AND negative effects on your stats, as well as positive AND negative effects on the story, would make them WAY more interesting. And they desperately need to be more interesting.

I see I chose the wrong three weeks to ignore the Geneforge forum.

I'm really excited to hear Jeff's plans. Everything he's said suggests he's approaching GF4 with a dynamic attitude, where rules are broken, strange new ideas are released, and "good enough" gets embellished until it becomes "whoa, cool." This is the attitude that has brought us the most engaging game-worlds and stories, like GF1, E2, and Nethergate. Huzzah!

I am thrilled to hear that there will be returning NPCs. (I'm rooting for Khyryk myself, but I'll be happy as long as it's not just the drakons.) I am elated to hear that there will be an actual war. The Empire War in E/A2 has got to be one of the best-implemented plot devices I've seen in a game. And I am completely euphoric that there's a servile PC option. It has been more than ten years since Jeff last cracked open a new non-human character option. HUZZAH!

Purgatory is not part of Hell. I believe Limbo is supposed to be at the very top of Hell. Also, I may be wrong on this but I think Purgatory was also just for Christians.

This is spam. This is the DEFINITION of spam. It does not belong here. Somebody please get rid of it.

Edit: Well, thank you for (eventually) disclosing its purpose. Now it's not deceptive. It's still spam, though...

It's more of a pornography "you know it when you see it," and the responsibility to stop it should be on Congressmen as a whole, led by senior leadership, to stop pork.
Agreed. However, the problem with the "indecent material" definition was that it had to be applied to questions of censorship, so there was the argument that ideally nothing should be censored, and also people who wouldn't be happy with less than total censorship of stuff they found indecent. In this case, there is nobody arguing that ideally the government shouldn't ever fund any projects, and it's a given that the budget gets split up among many different needs.

The problem here is that practically no one in congress has shown any interest, let alone taken any action, to stop pork. Maybe they should be the ones to stop it, but they aren't stopping it. Under the current system, there is no way they will be the ones to stop it.

COMPOSITE SPIDWEBBER
The composite spidwebber is an 18-year-old American citizen of typically varied but mostly white ethnic makeup, who has just graduated from high school. He's a man, but he's not very masculine at all. Although he thinks everyone is somewhat bisexual, he's quite sure that he's straight. This apparent contradiction may be explained by his general lack of success with the ladies -- he's a virgin, but he seems to know his way around internet porn -- or by his vaguely Christian upbringing, which he rejected several years ago in favor of humanistic atheism. English was his first language, and he sometimes corrects the grammar of others. He enjoys arguing with other people, and sometimes insulting them.

Edit: Updated. It doesn't seem that different to me...

Yes, it was -- possibly the most explicit comment in any of Jeff's games. If you want to be creative, you can always go for Anastasia/various Nephilim. Garzahd/Enla was practically in the games; she was exiled for refusing his advances.

Geneforge really does not have the horrible slash potential of Avernum. So much abuse. Think about it. Linda/Adze-Haakai... Garzahd/Enla... Anastasia/that prisoner she kept... Leith/Spider/Spider/Spider... it's pure carnage.

Stop attacking arghhhhhhhhh.

Honestly. He did some things that were pretty dumb, but those things have dwindled, a LOT, since he first appeared. That's why I asked his age -- he's not manipulative and reactive like EDF, he's just young, and has to learn how to be part of a group. EDF wanted the community to adapt to his needs, but arghhhhhhhhh is actually adapating to the community, if perhaps not as fast as we'd prefer. He's learning. I say, good for him!

(Edited for emphasis.)
