There are still hundreds of images to choose from, and being forced to use something that's not a perfect fit often leads to the discovery of an unlikely but poignant comparison. If I hadn't had to use that crappy mailman for Aran, I wouldn't have been able to make the crack about poser models, for instance, which in turn would have made the stick figures Avernum 4 joke weaker. For similar reasons, I tend to find metered poetry minus the meter to be more appealing than free verse. But Ed has been constantly and unrelentingly provocational. He's been far more successful at it than TM, too. Despite his canned status, Ed's continued attempts to stir up flames on the boards are ignored by the mods. I don't mind the mods exercising their judgment in terms of who to ban and who not to. I think they should (and more to the point, the CoC thinks they should). And they are under no obligation to explain their reasoning to the rest of us.
