Just a few more questions...

Ok, I currently have...

1. Empire Dervish
2. Troglodyte Khazi
3. Demon
4. Dark Wyrm (needed to use editor to had endurance to ge this little nightmare)

However, I'll only replace 2 and 3. Perhaps someone could tell me about the quality of...
1. Rakshasa (I know I'll get this one. But who will I replace?)
2. Demon Golem (should it replace the Demon? Or should I go for resistances and melee more since I already know every spell except Cloud of Blades?)
3. Lich

Particularly, I would like to know resistances, since all three are fairly rare. I already know Rakshasa are immune to magic (Except a healthy Capture Soul)

In other words, 7 potential souls. Any recommendations?

Oh, and WHERE do I learn Cloud of Blades?

The Bordrao is still at the Bordrao Camp Docks. It hasn't moved since it emerged from the water, and it will not move until Hmethrrr gives the word, which is hard since the special crystals can't be used very often, and he's far from White Peak Island.

Three people. That's hardly what I'd call 'many'...and I never said anything about the Bordrao going anywhere. It IS STILL AT THE DOCKS. Don't do this. Can't I RP without you always telling me what to do with all these 'treaties'? And like I've said, today's been a horrible day, and I don't need something like this!

Jsoulza Mountains-large Nephilim tribe camp

Hmethrrr and the Twin Guard were escorted into a nearby camp, where negotiations began and went well. Before too long, though, a messenger arrived and handed Hmethrrr a message.

After Hmethrrr finished reading the message, he stared up at the messenger.

"So, there are goblins not too far from here. But...you expect me to attack them when they, too, have known the suffering your kind has brought upon us?" Hmethrrr spat at him.

The messanger began looking nervous. Hmethrrr stood up to his full height and walked over to the messenger. He began speaking.

"Tell your 'emperor' that we will NOT attack the goblins unless he can prove they wish us ill. And if they are who I think they are, then the so-called empire will have some grave trouble, indeed. There is ONE other condition, though. If your 'emperor' can undo a supposedly permanent binding between an ice and fire spirit from two Nephils' souls, then he'll have my attention. Until then..." Hmethrrr made a gesture, and the Twin guard escorted him out of the tent. Hmethrrr turned to a Jsoulza mountain tribe chieftan.

"So we have a deal?" he said. The chieftan returned with a nod and a grin. Hmethrrr took a crystal from his robes and whispered into it, and promptly hid it in his robes once more.

----------

The Bordrao

Mhthrrr pulled a vibrating crystal from his pocket. He gazed at it as runes appeared. He read them:

Send-Ndovlu. Goblins-potential allies.

The crystal turned dark. Mhthrrr began speaking to a Crew-Nephil.

"Have the birdy ready to be sent to the Ndovlu mountains. I'll write the message myself. Be prepared to sound the horn at any moment. We are going to have quite the glorious battle before too long," he said. Mhthrrr dismissed the Crew-Nephil.

Mhthrrr placed the crystal on a nearby empty pedastal. The crystal was swalowed up.

In A2, I managed to capture a Rakshasa with Capture Soul 3. So, I believe it is possible in A3. I wonder if they're immune to slowing in A3, too.

Well, I'm now going after Elhioc. Can his soul be captured?

Oh, and is it worth capturing the soul of a Spine Beast? There are still some around who have teamed up with ogres.

Drakes are actually a bit vulnerable to fire damage.

Well, I also captured a Troglodyte Khazi, but they mostly just use Priest spells, even though I think I've seen they have some Mage spells (I'll go check that out). Anyway, I've also seen that Ogre Mages are immune to Ice damage (or at least awe-inspiringly resistant), but the ONLY creatures I've EVER seen that use Ice damage are (Ice and normal) Drakes breathing cold, and Baby Dragons using Ice Lances? So, the Demon really IS better for a Mage monster, isn't it?

Anyway, I'm going to go find a Dervish.

Okay, now I found an Ogre Mage and got his soul. Now I have a Demon AND an Ogre Mage. But...which one is better? The Ogre Mage doesn't seem to have Slow, but I've certainly seen Demons use it, but it seems the Ogre Mage is more resistant to magic.

Behold! The topic rises once again!

Okay, now I'm a bit of a ways into Avernum 3, and I have the following abominiations' souls trapped in a Soul Crystal:

1. Alien Slime
2. Drake
3. Demon
4. Basilisk

Since I'm currently retrieving the Orb of Thralni, most of these guys are pretty good. But, the Drake and Demon have the same spells, both have good resistances and hitpoints. But, which one has more hitpoints and which one is a better spellcaster?

I could find out the hard way, but it would take a while to find both, so I'm wondering if anyone here already knows.

Well, I've only played 1 and 2 (which were excellent), but I've played the demos (short, but still good).

Jsoulza Mountains

As Hmethrrr approached the campfire, he heard voices.

"I hate sentry duty," said one voice.

"It's not your job to like it, it's your job to do it," another voice responded.

Suddenly, Hmethrrr's ring glowed fiercely and made a loud keening noise.

"WHAT WAS THAT?" a voice said. The Nephilim sentries spotted Hmethrrr and his Twin Guard as the ring was silenced.

"I didn't think it would've gotten hungry again so soon. I hate its feeding time," Hmethrrr mumbled angrily.

"Who are you? What do you want?" One of the sentries said.

"I am Hmethrrr of the Bandits of Bordrao. I have come to propose an alliance between my Bandits and the Nephilim of the Jsoulza mountains. If you know of any sentient beings in the Ndovlu mountains, I would appreciate getting to meet them," Hmethrrr responded.

----------

The Bordrao

Mhthrrr walked around, inspecting the Bordrao below deck. He approached a small porticullis and tapped on a bar. "I assume the Spirit-Binding crystals are still locked up?" he asked.

"Yes, they are. No one else will suffer their curse," said a Nephil guarding the porticullis.

Mhthrrr approved and looked at the room beyond longingly. He moved on to inspect the other enchanted item storage rooms.

Why?

If you've slain one, you've slain it a hundred times! HAHAHA! :P

If you really want to fight a Doomguard one hundred times, try using Cloud of Blades on it. So...many...Doomguards...make them go away!

I think Spray Acid, Call Beast, Summon Spirit and Terror are all boring. All the other spells have their uses.

There are several monsters I consider boring...like goblins, NORMAL golems and Guardians.

So what? You're an invisible melee-based demon. I'll just haste and bless myself and go Demonslayer on you. Or, at least, they were demons in A2.

Only 22 living Spiderwebbers. I'm among them...but I haven't appeared much.

It's still good writing, though. It's chilling how the Ur-Noob could survive Divine Retribution like that. Perhaps he's...undead?

Jsoulza Mountains

As Hmethrrr and the Twin Guards climbed the mountain, one of the guards asked Hmethrrr something.

"Why is it that Mrrrhrth needs that locket?" he asked.

"For the same reason I need the ring under my gauntlet," Hmethrrr snapped. The Guard remained silent.

It was about an hour later that they spotted a campfire ahead with figures moving about.

-------------------

The Bordrao

A Crew-Nephil approached Mhthrrr.

"Sir, I'm afraid resources are low, and we can't afford to lose any ballistae until we get more wood...a lot more wood. The crystal maintaining the dome is also glowing red, and we don't know what it means," he hesitantly reported.

"It means we should turn it off. Make sure it happens. We won't have to dive, anyway," Mhthrrr said offhandedly.

At the Bandit Camp:
Someone had placed a pedastal with a large crystal on it at the docks. Then the camp's best shaman, Mhthrrr, placed his hands on it and began chanting. A very large ship emerged from the water, with three masts but no sails, and a sparkling dome protected the deck from water. The keel of the ship glowed brightly, magically providing a way for it to move. On the sides of the ship were the words, magically inscribed, The Bordrao. The air outside the dome was filled with static electricity, giving the Nephil a rather comical case of hairs-on-end. Ropes from the sides of the ship dropped down, and when they came back up, each rope held a diving rowboat, except one rope (that boat was in use). On the upper deck, there was a very large horn readied for use.

Many Nephil soldiers, shamans, priests and mages (in this camp, shamans were either priests or mages who were considered to be a higher rank)began boarding the ship, leaving behind the families and guards of the camp. About 10 Nephil went below deck, and began dragging up small ballistae, which were secured on deck.

"And to think that all we had to do was destroy a group of enchanters to acquire this magnificent vessel!" Mhthrrr chuckled, "too bad I wasn't there to see their faces."

(OOC: The Bordrao can't travel on land, despite its magical transportation. The magical dome does NOT make it invincible)

------------------------

Jsoulza Mountains

The rowboat emerged from the water to behold the beautiful sight of the Jsoulza mountains. The rowboat floated ashore, and a hole appeared long enough for everyone inside to get out. Hmethrrr and his twin guard emerged, and looked at the mountains.

"The Nephil who live here must be somewhere," Hmethrrr muttered, "we should keep moving, this won't be the first time I ever climbed a mountain. Keep an eye out for possible openings!"

As they moved away, the rowboat sank into the water to wait for their return.

They began climbing, searching for the other Nephil.

I know this topic is VERY old, but a new question has come up. I just had a Simulacrum Limoncelli battle a Dervish, and well...Limoncelli didn't do much before he faded.

So, the new question is...should I replace Limoncelli with a Dervish?

edit: Perhaps resistances could decide this. Could anyone list them?

Hmethrrr retrieved his mask and put it back on. With a repaired rowboat, Hmethrrr, his reunited elite soldiers and a priest made it to the Bandit camp. Hmethrrr escorted the priest to a tent with a statue of a Nephil. Hmethrrr shuddered violently and began speaking.

"This is my father, Mrrrhrth. Using a Balm of Life, you will restore him. Wait...something is missing..." Hmethrrr said as he inspected the statue. He roared in fury and yelled "His locket is missing! That was the only thing keeping him alive!"
He turned to the priest, and shuddered violently. "Don't worry about me. I feel it wearing off. Instead, you shall stay here for a while."

"How long will I have to stay?" said the priest.

"How soon do you want to be eaten by the Tiger of Bordrao?" Hmethrrr responded. The priest remained silent. Hmethrrr exited.

Hmethrrr went to the shore and filled his cupped hands with water. An image of Solaria formed in them. Furious, Hmethrrr dashed the water against the ground.

"Prepare the Bordrao! Leave some guards here in Mrrrhrth's tent! The place where the locket is being kept is too well protected to raid by ourselves! I'll find help," Hmethrrr shouted, "And bring me a healing potion!" It appears we are going to attack the humans on the other side of the Island after all. Hmethrrr thought.

After being refreshed by the healing potion, Hmethrrr got on the diving rowboat once more, with only two elite soldiers with him this time. "If there really are Nephils in the Jsoulza mountains, we'll find them. However, I doubt they're the only potential allies lurking in the mountains. We'll be checking the Ndovlu mountains afterwards," Hmethrrr said.

The rowboat dived, and the journey began.

Hmethrrr smiled, but you couldn't tell through the mask. "But I also have a few other conditions. You will escort me to the shore immdediately, and give me a Balm of Life for each of my soldiers you killed. You shall also lend me a priest skilled enough to restore my fallen soldiers, and also able to restore a Nephil from stone back to flesh. You'll also give me enough cloth to repair my rowboat's cover."

"On what grounds do you make those demands!?" the Governor retorted.

Hmethrrr pulled a large glowing crystal from his robes. "These grounds. The last time one of these summoning crystals went off, we had to fight a family of wild, uncontrollable basilisks. That's how my father was turned to stone. I have no idea what's in this crystal, but I know it's quite the monstrosity, and that it likes to eat humans."

The crystal began rumbling dangerously, as if something inside was trying to escape.

"You're bluffing!" the Governor squeaked.

Hmethrrr nodded. He broke the crystal, and Hmethrrr became much faster, for a time. Hmethrrr was able to get behind Governor Tellstone. Hmethrrr put the governor in some form of a headlock. But, his mask fell off. His eyes were completely blue, and his fur was white. But, each individual fur was frozen, creating a layer of spikes. His nose was pink, and as he breathed, a chilling circulation of air filled the room. Several people screamed. As he spoke, he revealed his sharp teeth.

"Give me what I want, or your governor will have a lethal case of the chills! Trust me, I know ALL about how cold can kill!" Hmethrrr growled, "Oh, by the way, I don't know what else this crystal does, so you may want to comply before you find out!" As he spoke, Hmethrrr began shuddering violently.

Hmethrrr and four armored Nephil walked to the Camp's Docks. It was very hard to notice the slight disturbance unless you already knew it was there. As Hmethrrr approached it, he made a quick and complex series of hand movements, and a large rowboat with a covered top emerged from the water.

"Excellent. It shall be easier to reach the Gulf of Jazen with this," Hmethrrr pondered aloud. The group of five entered the rowboat as a hole appeared in the cover, and the hole sealed itself once they were inside. "The secrets of Bordrao are many!" Hmethrrr said with a chuckle.

The rowboat dived, but all of those inside were protected from the sea. An image of their location was projected onto the inside of the cover. Using the numerous small navigation devices, it was a simple task to pilot into the Gulf of Jazen. However, whether they remained unseen was not yet revealed.

The raid on the ship was quick. The Nephil may have been few in number, but each one had a lot of experience in the art of the bandit. No one, Nephil or sailors, were critically injured. The ship with the now imprisoned sailors promptly returned, with the rowboats used by the Nephil.

"Sir, we found something disturbing on the ship," said one of the returning Nephil, handing a piece of paper to Hmethrrr. He took it and read it.

"They were searching for the shipwreck of the Bordrao, huh? It's our warship now. For over 2 hundred years, it's been ours. But more importantly, was there a priest on the ship?" Hmethrrr responded.

"No, sir. But the ship had a cartographer, and it's just as we had feared. The empire is reforming to the south, on Pralgrad," said the Nephil.

"Gather four of our best warriors, and one of our...specialty rowboats. They shall be all I need to kidnap a priest from the Empire. Then Mrrrhrth shall rise. But if the priest won't help us..." Hmethrrr said.

As if on cue, a vicious growl sounded from one of the larger tents.
