I don't care.

It won't affect how I live my life, anyway. Also, I seem to recall a topic very similar to this done in the very recent past...

Of what? A Spiderweb game?

Sure, I'd give it a try if it was any good. However, I doubt this topic will remain alive very long...

Fluffy Turtles : The origins in General

Well I've been around a while myself, and I remember the fluffy turtle crap, I just never thought it was amusing.

Same with the offical Elder Scrolls forum and their "fishysticks".

And the old Quake-Players board and their "nail gun boobies". Ok, I admit, I took part in that once or twice...

A better question is: why do all message boards have to have some stupid little inside-joke-icon? Make it funny, at least.

On drums, I love playing blink-182 - feeling this. It's just fun.

On guitar, I love playing Coheed & Cambria - 21:13. Again, really fun and it sounds a lot harder than it is.

On piano, the Mario theme gets people excited.

On recorder, Hot Cross Buns, because that's the only thing I can play perfectly.

RPGs vs. "Computer Games" in General
Guardian

The primary purpose of RPGs is to create a character, his/her motives, personality, etc. You could argue that playing a less-lethal Sam Fisher (Splinter Cell) is taking character development into account, but I think few would agree with you.

Without choices to be made, and a path so well set, it's hard to actually play a character and have decisions have consequences (I probably could have worded that better). Thus, you aren't playing much of a role, other than the one the game has defined for you.

D&D is far more of and "RPG" than FFXx and such will ever be. You are actively given chances to play out the thoughts of your character, and that will affect the rest of your adventure in very real ways. The Elder Scrolls series is close, as your actions do have effect. However, the quests tend to be one-sided, leaving lots of black or white choices; not really the games fault, but a design decision to ship the games within reasonable time.

I'm a bit agitated at the moment, so this might come off as a rant, I dunno. And my chest hurts.

Ask Jeff. Be sure to state exactly what you're using it for.

I wouldn't think he'd have a problem with it, but you never know.

Well to be fair, ROCK is the main genre. Metal would be a sub-genre of that. We can subdivide all we want, but at least keep the roots intact. To prevent being flamed, yes I know all music would basically boil down to one thing. But let's remain civil here.

We tend to do these topics a lot.

I listen to punk, pop-punk, hardcore, and prog-rock.

To anyone inexperienced, they would all sound the same. But we all know the differences.

I don't believe in an afterlife. To me, when we die, that's it. End. Fin.

But I would like to think there's some eternal war being waged between heaven and hell that determines the fate of all our souls. That could make a cool video game, actually...

Are you the same dude that posted some story about a dog a while ago?

And I'm with Thuryl. Why should you care what people think? It's your own feelings, and nothing we, or anyone, says is going to change that.

I think JV should be the Panama Canal. That just seems fitting somehow.

She stands perched on her hip, with her purse in her right hand, loosely clasped. Her straight golden white hair flows easily in the wind, just below her shoulder. Her makeup is flawless, as if hours were spent perfecting every detail. Her eyes were replaced with sapphires, catching the sunlight with every turn. Her body sends chills down every man's spine... but they'll never have her; she's gay.

First-person what? (vocabulary item question) in General
Guardian
Member # 2238

It's definitely "first-person shooter."

I've also heard this genre referred to as "shoot 'em up"... but that is too incorrect. "Shoot 'em ups" are those where you stand there with a light gun (or similar) and shoot the screen full of badly rendered FMV baddies. At least, that's what we always deducted back in the arcades of the "old days."

JV will almost definitely not be there. Unless he reads this, and goes out of spite.

I'd like to go, but I have a trip planned for the same time, so... it won't be happening.
