In oe of the many Star Wars games, it included a Lightsaber battle between Luke Skywalker and some Sith. The battle was not pre-scripted however, so how it progressed varied each time you saw it. One time when I watched that battle however, Luke managed to get his Lightsaber hand cut off, and the game got horribly confused about where his Lightsaber should be attached too now. It ended up projecting out of the middle of his stomach. That didn't end it however, Luke now ended up contorting wildly as his stomach began to move in the same way his right hand normally would. The Force really does work in strange ways. [ Monday, March 17, 2008 02:58: Message edited by: Chicken ] Posts: 206 | Registered: Tuesday, September 3 2002 07:00 |

Just adding the "other" options I filled in. Gender and Sexual Orientation: Male, Asexual. Nationality: Dutch, as in an inhabitant of the Netherlands. Also as a curiosity I answered "2007" for Spiderweb join date, the account is older but I didn't actively start reading here until 2007. Posts: 206 | Registered: Tuesday, September 3 2002 07:00 |

KotOR's alignments (And most of the games using the same rough engine, Jade Empire too in other words), don't really offer restrictions to the main plot. Though I think a few sidequests here and there are only accessible depending on how evil/good you are. Nothing will stop you from suddenly having a complete change of heart at the critical plot point which decides whether you're actually good or evil though. Edit: quote:It's a fairly good system if done well, which was the primary issue in how the fourth Elder Scrolls game did it really. It would've been more interesting if you faced larger amounts of goblins as you got more powerful, but instead you just face more powerful goblins who still fight and act exactly the same, with the only real difference being that they have a more expensive weapon now. It's a bit unsatisfying to be fully decked out in powerful artifacts and have all enemies you encounter be scaled up so that they still take the same basic time to kill as when you had nothing but a rusty dagger as weapon. Also having random bandits plaguing the road in the most expensive armor and weapons you can think of is also just... Off. On the note of Mario RPG games; the mario RPG game on the GBA, and it's "sequel" on the DS are fairly unique in that a sufficiently skilled player can, with timing and skill, avoid all incoming damage in the game. Doing so very well will even cause you to counterattack. It's fairly well done, if simplistic. Posts: 206 | Registered: Tuesday, September 3 2002 07:00 |

As I recall it was around the time of the Avernum 3 release, with the absolutely outrageous Xian Skull topic that was there at the time being a good source of amusement for me. I promptly disappeared approximately a month after initially started posting, and returned to posting here at very rare and very far in between times a long time later. *lays claim to Calcium (20) or Sulfur (16)* As for why... Calcium as in chicken egg shells, though those are technically calcium carbonate, the calcium part is the more unique factor in there. Sulfur due to the rotten egg smell, and the amusing link to demons, thinking in the direction of Monkey Island's El Pollo Diablo, not to mention amusing mishaps when someone might think sulfur and demons are very linked. How Did You Find Spiderweb? in General | |

The word was brought unto me by a so called "Demo Disk" presumably unaware of it's divine contents, for from within it shone out to me with the actually rather disappointing light of luminous cave fungi! Thus the word of Exile (and through it Spiderweb) became known to this humble poultry. Alas I was but a chick in those days, and my memory was best described as non-existent, so the word was promptly forgotten for the upcoming years. Some years later as I became a Gallus Gallus Telecomnicus, I remembered the word, and visited it's holy ground, and registered for worship. Since that time I have been behaving much like any chicken would, mostly I peck and scratch and don't do much, unless my pecking and scratching finds a particularly juicy worm. Technically speaking by the time you'd normally go past the guy you'd only be handling creations which wouldn't be too abnormal for an outsider to handle. That Geneforge isn't advanced enough to keep track of these things when you backtrack is obviously a bit weird, but you can basically assume each chapter to have it's own separate chronology, and that they're largely created along the principle that anything you do after the chapter you're currently in will generally not affect or be known by anyone in previous chapters. "The Evil Fairy" from that Dead-Name. Fascinating. Now if I combine that with the band name generator, we get The Evil Fairy and the Supersized Vamps. Clearly I have a career in showbusiness ahead of me. Posts: 206 | Registered: Tuesday, September 3 2002 07:00 |

I'd be quite impressed by a piece of software that not only manages to properly translate everything, but includes any and all typos too in a manner appropriate to the language, and also translates any of the so called leet speak to one appropriate to the language. Yes, they are, they're basically female Drayks with an affinity of trees. They're rather sodden and miserable creations though, they keep getting depressed over accidentally burning the trees they try caring for. Posts: 206 | Registered: Tuesday, September 3 2002 07:00 |

It's very possible to be using a 3D engine and still offer a single isometric perspective. And I suspect it's going to start with that, basic engine along the lines of the one Geneforge uses, except with graphical effects and models making use of fancy 3D tricks. I'm still rather enticed by the idea of an Aztec vs. Conquistadors style RPG in the same vein as Nethergate that someone suggested a few weeks ago. Posts: 206 | Registered: Tuesday, September 3 2002 07:00 |
