No, that sounds like mainly certain types of people with certain types of tastes use online forums, so any poll of them is not necessesarily what the results would be of a poll of everyone playing the games. Kind of like if you want to see what kinds of political candidates americans want to vote for but only poll people you see leaving and entering a synagogue.

Yes you may have people thinking "I wouldn't pay for it, but I'll play it if its free", but it still impacts sales as other people are also thinking "I want this badly and I would pay for this if I had to, but why bother when I can get it for free"

The confusing bit is, is that based on the almost certainly correct prediction, the money is already either in the box or not in it, and taking both boxes won't change that so there is no reason to decide not to take them. However if you are smart and decided that is the correct strategy you probably just cost yourself $90 by being that smart and logical.

No, pants are no longer the joke equipment slot they once were, as now you get real armor for that slot (think called vambraces or something like that).

Well if you pump the stats to the max with the character editor you kind of lose most of the reason for a one PC party (gain experience on that one character very fast).

Oops, I meant to post that in the "Side of Victory" topic. But I had multiple browser windows open and I guess I got confused.

But how can they be ordered if the non-spiderweb games were removed from the order form?

Though it's not libertarian either if the most important thing is to teach them your religious beliefs.

Is English not your first language? Thats some really confusing bad grammar there. Also, it's Geneforge, not Genoforge.

You don't need a bunch of scrolls, just one. Save, use it, then load. If that feels like cheating to you, console yourself that you'd find them anyway by bumping against the walls, and just think of it as saving yourself time.

I didn't find celts hard to play as at all, I played it as follows: I'd have 2 warriors in the front, followed by 2 druids (give all initial skill points to druid skills for spells learned, with 1 with as high as possible in spirit circle, other with 6 in craft, and add most points to those until you have 8 in all circles. Later on I eventually gave 8 in health and war to the warriors and found them being able to start combat by hasting and blessing themselves was a big help.

I'm reminded of a Dilbert strip where he was trying to make soup and went as follows: Hmm, corn starch that's basically flour.... Marjoram, I think that's french for butter.... uh oh: 1/3 cup fine grated (some type of cheese I forget), well eggs are basically cheese that comes from chickens. He ended up with something that looked like a cake.

Yes, but there are 3 separate unrelated main quests in Avernum (finding tunnel to surface, assasinating emperor, and saving avernum from enemies.

Alternately in Avernum 2 there is the overall war against the empire, but you have 3 main missions: retrieving crystal souls, destroying the teleporter, and assasinating the enemy commander.

On the other hand Avernum 3 is more focused on one objective.

Yes, but if piracy was not a viable option, a good portion of those would have paid for it too if that was the only way to get it.

Maybe he just meant a dramatic increase over only having enough skill to cast the spell in the first place, not an increasing amount per each additional point.

I think they have enough value in Geneforge 3 to get you a few coins when sold to a shop, but beyond that no, no more useful than a pillow, or basket, or a spoon, or an unsellable trowel (for some reason some trowels can be sold for 1 coin, others 0), or simple trash for that matter.

Or rather how about:

I pay little attention to sports, but I believe by far the 4 most popular sports in the US, (not in this order) are baseball, football (again, not what you call football), basketball, and hockey.

To clear up confusion: when someone from outside the US says "football", they are not talking about what we call football. They are talking about soccer. For those unfamiliar with what people in the US call football, I hear rugby resemebles it in a number of ways.

Problem is also how it is a number of distinct quests, rather than one all encompassing plot.

Well these are the questions I have the biggest issues with:

1.The enemy of my enemy is my friend.

What direction this is supposed to indicate is clearly beyond my imagination.

2."From each according to his ability, to each according to his need" is a fundamentally good idea.

Getting kind of uncreative, by simply putting in word for word a central tenant of communisim

3.The rich are too highly taxed.

This is questionable as it is partly based on where you live. Someone may think the rich are too highly taxed in your country, but in another countries tax system think they get off too light.

4.The prime function of schooling should be to equip the future generation to find jobs.

Which way this would indicate is dependant on what you think the alternative prime function should be (is it to instill obedience and moral/religious values, or is it to provide person enrichment and encourage creative thinking?)

5.The most important thing for children to learn is to accept discipline.

Again, this ones effect would be dependant on what the alternative most important thing is.

6.Mothers may have careers, but their first duty is to be homemakers.

If someone disagrees with the first part, rather than the second part it would skew the wrong way.

7.Astrology accurately explains many things.

Do they disagree with astrology because they reject any sort of spiritual or religous thing, or because it contradicts the teachings of thier particular religion (I've heard people say that astrology is un-christain).

8.It's fine for society to be open about sex, but these days it's going too far.

Again, what if they disagree with the first part, rather than the second part.

Overall, the most basic problem is that these labels are just convient things used as certain groups of beliefs tend to overlap, though it is seldom always the case. The only true indicator of a person political belief is the entire set of all distinct beliefs they hold.

Well it also means fewer games will be made at all, as a proposal for a new game will be less likely to be accepted as it is less likely to have sales greater than production costs. And don't forget if budgets are cut that includes budgets for beta testing and bug fixing. Also, it may force companies to try to make up for it by selling games at higher prices.

Notice the large number of parties listed by Canada. In the US, there can only be two real parties as there is only 1 winner in any election, rather than as some countries have seats in a legislature awarded by proportion. There are a few minor parties but no one takes them seriously and in most elections they get less than 10% combined of the votes and hold no offices, so all they can do is make the person from the major parties whose views LEAST resemble their own more likely to win.
