Randomizer, are you sure you don't have a virus (and I'm not talking herpes)? I guess it's possible that someone is falsifying their email address to look like yours, but as far as I know the more common problem is a Trojan Horse or worm of some kind infecting the user's computer. Also try changing your email address's password. I'm sure you know this, but just in case.

And it's not automated. It's handled by a real, live human. They had problems with someone hijacking their mailing list for nefarious purposes once, so they abandoned the automated system in favor of a more secure human-based system, IIRC. So it takes longer, but it's safer, and it's more personal if any problems arise.

1.1.0 released. My betatester had pointed out these aesthetic issues, but in my excitement over finishing all the nodework I forgot to fix them.

EDIT: By the way, if someone could make a MEG file for this scenario, that'd be great.

EDIT2: Nevermind, TM made the MEG and sent it to me. New ZIP has been uploaded with the SIT-compressed MEG file and a readme. I'll upload this, "The Scenario", and a bunch of graphics to the Blades Forge when Aran fixes it.

Oh, so it does. Thanks, Tyran.

Brian Eno, of course. I guess it's just called "Windows Welcome music".

Aran, the file is in the WINDOWS\system32\oobe\images folder. It's called title.wma.

EDIT: There's some interesting MIDIs in WINDOWS\Media too.

I don't know why you keep talking about WinZip. The objection is having to use a stupid program to extract it at all. ZIP compression and extraction is integrated into Windows XP.

While we're requesting music identification, I salvaged a WMA file from my old eMachines T2542 computer before the power supply crapped out and fried the motherboard. It's a piece electronic ambient music that played during the setup of a fresh installation of Windows XP from the discs that came with the computer, and I really like it. I doubt eMachines, a maker of budget computers, would commission a new work of such high quality for something so silly, so I figure they must have licensed an existing work from someone.

It's 5:24 long, with a calming mood. It begins with four eight-beat chords with no other instruments which are then repeated with additional instruments that sound something like tape snaps and a sharp inhalation of breath, and then other instruments come in as well. It has about five seconds of a low-pitch choir starting at about 3:49.

Does anyone know the name of the artist and/or the name of the track?

I like the second movement, personally. "My name is Jane! I am seven years old! Black hair and red eyes! I have no nose, or ears. I am dead! If you do not send this to fifteen people in the next - five minutes I will apPEEEEEAR! tonight by your bed with a knife, and kill you!" The singer sings it in such a cheery manner, which makes it particularly funny.

"This is no joke! Something good will happen to you tonight at 9:22!"

"This is not a joke! Someone will either call you, or talk to you online and say they love you! Do not break! No send-back!"

I've never actually listened to the third and fourth movements too closely, but I should.

Ben Rogers. The movements of the "Symphony of Spam" are titled "Verification Required by Visa" (that's the rage polar bear one), "Fwd: (no subject)", "YOUR HELP IS NEEDED FOR A GOOD WORK", and "Harder Quickerr and Longer".

Actually, BoE only takes BMP on Windows, and if you use JPG you risk filling the image with compression artifacts, resulting in whitish patches where there should be transparent space in the game.

As for the EXS files, they are completely cross-platform.

No. Right-click on BLADEXIL.EXE (should be in C:\Program Files\BLADEXIL\ unless you put the program somewhere else), then click Properties, then click the Compatibility tab, and check "Run this program in compatibility mode for" and select Windows 95 from the dropdown menu.

Hope that helps.

I played the demo once for a few minutes before it crashed my computer. I don't remember much, but I remember the walking animations were atrocious. The back and back leg were straight as they lifted the stepping leg at right angles, then pushed themselves forward with the back leg and brought the stepping leg down. Repeat with the legs reversed.

The Xian Tome is indeed in the Tower of Magi.

The Xian Chainmail changes a few dialogue responses if you're wearing it, most notably from Solberg, who tells the party about a dungeon you won't otherwise find...

Node chain won't work in Blades of Exile

Finally got around to this.

I added a message to the lock rectangle node, another to the transform rectangle node that changes the terrain to conveyor belts, and another to the transform rectangle node that changes the terrain back, and tested it. I found that they were changed and changed back in the same round, which is odd since I put in the General Timer telling it to go off one round after it was called. I set it to 2 instead of 1, and now it works.

Thanks to everyone who helped.

Can't install custom scenarios in Blades of Exile

I just found an older version of Ormus's BoE (sans editors) on my flash drive that worked better with regard to custom scenarios being recognized. I don't know what the functional differences between that version and the newer one are, aside from custom scenarios working in this one. I'll look through the thread about his port and post here again.

EDIT: Okay, it seems the only real difference between this older version and the current one is that Ormus rearranged the file structure. This was done to make development easier, if I understood correctly, but it also broke custom scenarios.

I just have the program, and not the source, unfortunately. At any rate, it should run well enough on XP and Vista. I don't know what to do with it though, now that I have it. Should I upload it somewhere (it's a 2.67MB ZIP), or are there licensing issues due to this version being released under the Common Public License rather than GNU GPL v2?
