Well, this is a nice day! I get home, sit down to my computer and open up my E-mail. Guess what>

I find an E-mail from my favorite web-site (egosoft) that I have been permanantly banned for blatant swearing and topic Necromancy. Now I find out that my account had been hacked and someone from my school had used it to troll that forum!

This is disgusting! The ADMIN now hate me and are refusing to give my account back, my RP thread has been locked, everyone jack hates my guts because they think I did this and the teachers in my school will never be able to prove anything, so no-one will be punished for it.

God, I know who did this yet I can't do a thing about it and now I'll be tormented about it by those people for weeks, because they won and they know if I directly confront them on this, THEY will have enough evidence to get ME thrown out.

EDIT: Toned down a bit.

Woo Hoo! We can make our own rant topics now? Awesome!

I'd like to start by saying that three midterms in a day is like totally unfair. And like, how can I study for three test when I have assignments and homework to do? Not mentioning work! It's like totally uncool. Also, I don't think is right that all these people have like all this money and I have to pay student loans and like it sucks.

Seriously, it sucks that you got hacked and kicked out of your "favorite forum". And it sucks even more that you can't do anything about it. But ranting won't help, and ranting here will help even less. So just go outside, watch a movie or something, hang out with your friends, remind yourself that the internet is not your life. It'll help :)

Your right. But I am so angry about this, it's completely destroyed my reputation over an entire gaming community that I practically exist on. I've calmed down a little now, I'll edit that post. I won't make some long post discribing in detail all the quirks of my life and managing to sound mysteriously like Ed, but I do have unuseual circumstances, and I sometimes find it hard to control my temper. But this was so disgusting to me I just had to let it out somehow.

Never, ever leave your account logged in where other people can access it, or share your password. Then you can avoid such dilemmas! :)

The cheese was thoughtful...but I like cookies better.

*Must...resist*

You see, the account left active was not the problem. I always, ALWAYS close them, and the "Remember Password" option is always off, plus the password is an auto-generated one I memorized years ago after losing my first when I was about 10.

So someone broke into the computer, un-deleted my history files (So no-one can do the above) somehow stole my E-mail address (That at least is common lore there), sent it to a computer that had mail recog software and got another auto-generated password, found my username (Not hard, Jeran (something) is an almost universal account name for me), authenticated himself as me then entered the password, went to one of my old threads (About 38 pages back in both the forum and my posts list) and trolled.

I know three people who could do this, one cares nothing, one just hacks Youtube and the other couldn't have guessed my password. In other words, how the heck they did it I have no idea, but all the evidence is there, even the IP log of the last computer that account was used at. Yet I can prove nothing.

I went to my parent's house over the weekend. They were expecting me, yet all that was waiting for me when I arrived was a note from my mother saying "out shopping, fresh lunchmeat in the fridge." Can you believe that? That woman expected me to make my own sandwich!

Anyway, whenever I have a problem like Jeran's, which is to say I get banned from a lot of online communities, I usually just reregister, change my persona completely, befriend them, then when their trust in me is the greatest, reveal my true identity, ensuring they never trust another person again, get banned, and repeat. I may even have a few extra accounts on Spiderweb for this very purpose, you know, just in case.

Jeran, I can sympathise with you, and I decided to do that, so...

*sympathises*

And now I'd like to say my head annoyed the hell out of me, for giving me a non-stop headache that started Saturday evening and only ended this morning.

So what's your opinion on crabs?

So there are three people who could have hacked your account, but you don't think anyone of them both would have and could have. And you know exactly how it was done somehow? It sounds to me like you just didn't log off somewhere. It happens.

—Alorael, who finds it interesting that despite living your life on these boards the admins were happy to ban you for one infraction. Either they have a zero tolerance policy or your past behavior hasn't been so stellar that the explosion seemed unreasonable for you. That's something to think about.

Bleagh. I have to drive 60 minutes through the mountains today to bring building plans to some glorified county official so that they can look at them in puzzlement, then look at me and stammer out "uh, ok, well I guess I have to, ah take a look at these and I'll get back to you when, ah, I'm done," which would be fine except I was already up there once and that incompetent fool wasn't there so now I have to go back again and the worst part is that the fool will never notify me that the plans are ready and instead I'll have to guess and call and hope that I'm not too soon, because then she'll get all annoyed at me for wasting her valuable time with phone calls.

And I have to pay my auto insurance. I mean really. I didn't make any claims for 6 years, do they really need to collect insurance on me? Haven't I proven my worth as a driver? Don't they already have enough of my money that they are in a position to forgive future payments? It's almost like a rational person would make at least some claims in order to get full utility from their meat. I mean money. Geesh.

7557 - Gee that's tough. Looking for sympathy here though. Wow that takes nerves. At least you have a built in excuse for the next time someone innocently refers to you as Nija Halycon.

ET actually had some good advice if you want to go back to the forum, but I'll add get a new free email account to use and it might help to use another computer to start so the admins won't link you to your old account.

My rant was last month some spammer used by email address for the sender of his Viagra and fake watch spam. After over 2 weeks of deleting mailer demon messages saying they couldn't deliver "my spam", I was on auto delete mode if I didn't like the message subject. The last spam that I deleted before looking at the sender was sent using my email address. At least it's over although I wonder how many places now won't take my email address.

Randomizer, are you sure you don't have a virus (and I'm not talking herpes)? I guess it's possible that someone is falsifying their email address to look like yours, but as far as I know the more common problem is a Trojan Horse or worm of some kind infecting the user's computer. Also try changing your email address's password. I'm sure you know this, but just in case.

ADoS -

It doesn't look like a virus, because usually I'm not on the net except for posting. I'm on dial up so I will notice extra delays from uploading and most were sent while I'm offline. I asked Yahoo and it's a common problem where the spammer uses fake names forged onto a real email address.

Changed my password and checked the sent folder to see that it isn't coming directly from my email address as the first things.

I missed my chance to get the sender IP info to compare with mine. It's probably some poor guy's computer that doesn't even know it's sending.

Jeran - It's nice to know you'll get to play and keep you away from here.

Having a mac, viruses are alien to me. My best friend used to get them all the time, though, mostly from porn, I think. The funniest one he ever got was some kind of virus for Diablo II. He went to some hacking website for some reason and after that, his characters in the game would constantly spam for the site and everyone could see it but him. His account was otherwise unaffected. He was shunned by everyone for this and eventually ended up having to delete that account and start a new one. It was hilarious.

It's actually pretty common for viruses to spoof addresses from the infectee's address book, so it may be that someone Randomiser knows has a virus. That happened in the Lyceum community once -- one person had a virus and everyone else started receiving spam supposedly from Alcritas, Brett Bixler and so on.

Last Wednesday, I traveled to Elko with the rest of the music department for a solo and ensemble festival. The clouds dumped snow going to, but we had quite a bit of fun while there. On the way back however, a truck accident prevented anyone from traveling westbound. So we sat there for a whole hour and a half waiting, while some girls in the middle of the bus sang songs that annoy me (But my friend and I countered it with "Something"). The bus was scheduled to arrive back home at 5:30, but we didn't get home until 9:00. Just so happens that I was supposed to be in court at 6:00. And no, I didn't do anything illegal, I'm in this extracurricular group called Teen Court.

Jeran, that must absolutely suck. I've never even had spyware before (On my Mac at least), so I can't relate.

HAHAha don't bet on it. I check these forums when I get up, after breakfast, before I go to school, fifteen minutes after I get into school (School Computers), at break time, whenever I'm in the Computer class, just before I go home and I use a laptop to look at it if the driver has something he needs to drop off or buy somewere along the route. Then I check it at least four times throughout my home-time then just before I go to bed. On the extremely rare occasions we go away, I take the laptop and use that to contact here.
