--At Temple-- The temple was suprisingly clean of skeletons of any kinds. Although that it turn lead to nastier questions. They did however find some intriguing frescos. They all showed happily smiling humans flogging, bashing, cutting, kicking etc. other humans-who were smiling as well. "...What the?" Harris breathed staring at smiling figures "Just what kind of church was this anyway? Order of Sado-mascochist?" One of the acolytes who was analysing the art with interest suddenly murmured "I think I recall something about this in the Gebra town records archives-a few centuries back-there was cult in the area called 'The Sassy Punch of Pain' or something." Gripping his halberd tighter Harris glared into the shadows "Would they have been involved in raising of the dead or anything?" "The records didn't saying anything like that. They were monks and the lived her until some adventurers drove them out." "Hmmph adventurers would've cleared this place out. There probably isn't anything left of value anymore." "I don't think so sir" a voice rang out near the altar. It was the other acolyte "Would Brother Jamid come here please?" The brother strode over "What is it Alket?" She was practically dancing with glee. "Can't you feel the divine energy coming from the altar?" Jamid concentrated, then he felt it. The altar didn't have the metallic tang of corrupted blood nor was there any active holy spirit present. It was neutral energy, that could be turned to anyone's use. It was Jamid's turn to get excited "That means we can invoke our gods to anchor themselves to this place! We would have so much better access to the divine energy." "One of the higher priests should be sent here at once Sir," Sister Alket turned to Harris grinning ernestly "This is too great an oppurtunity to miss." "Send a message to Wavespeaker Kelas at one to come here at once!" Harris barked and motioned to one of his soldiers. "Sarg! One of our teams discovered a hidden room while clearing the area," An archer announced as he ran inside. "Did they find anything?" "Yeah, they said big books-" "Books! They didn't touch them did they?!" "Those books are hundreds of years old!" Both acolytes shrieked waving their arms about. "We don't go against orders. We were told not touch anything before it was inspected. Curses and all that." "Show us where you found them," Alket commanded, marching in front. Presently they came back their faces full of awe. "They seem to be prayer books Sir," they spoke in hushed tones "With holy incantations." Priests always like new spells just like mages although they'd never admit it. Jamid drew the symbol of the Holy Wavewalkers of his brows "The Wavewalkers-our gods brought us here," he whispered. The more devout of the troops sketched the sign too. Truly, it seemed that their own gods had brought them here. --Early Evening-Gebra-- It was beginning to become dusk when Wavespeaker Kelas recieved a message via a trained Sea Gull. Reading the letter his eyes widened and within a few minutes he was in a boat heading towards the Temple. -- Temple (Later)-- The ritual to bind an altar to a god (or gods) was draining yet the end result was worth it. "Wavewalkers, I summon thee!" the final line of the ritual spoken, Kelas fell to his knees only to be supported by Jamid and Alket. Blearily his eyes searched the altar looking for any sign that they had answered his call. Then electric blue light surrounded the altar and all present could here the roar of the sea waves and smell salt spray. "The Wavewalkers...they accept this place as their own." A spontanous celebration occured. --Garne (After Temple events)-- Irnai put down her message a runner had sent her. Truely, the gods were among them again. Closing her eyes she whispered-"Thankyou for heeding my plea, Welku." -- Mrrsa's Quarters -- Mrrsa had learnt the news soon after Irnai. She definately wanted to see those books, it was time her woefully neglected cleric skills had some work. Faction:Karnold Isles League Tenet:Protecting What is Ours. Character Roster (Or everyone that has Dialogue) Mistress Irnai: Leader of the League. A sharp mind and skilled sailor, Irnai lead the operation for taking back the isles. After this she created the faction to protect her home. However she possesses a sinster streak with her admiration of the human sacrifice of criminals and such to the Sea Gods. She is in her early forties and keeps her graying hair up in a bun. Years of sailing have given her wiry strength. (Don't Kill) Mrrsa: The resident mage/shaman of the League. Also second in command. Although having large amount of power, her body's growth seems to have been stunted by this- her height under five feet. In appearance this dark furred nephil (despite her actual age) looks more like a child than anything else. Mrrsa was stuck in Gorst when she met Irnai and together they plotted to take back the isles. Mrrsa is also a member of the Adventurer's Guild and a retired adventurer. (Don't Kill) Sargent Harris: He is called this despite being of being of higher rank. He is in charge of the military on the islands. The man favours a Halbard although he is no slouch a down a dirty fighting either. (Don't Kill) Irnai's Assistant: As of yet unnamed, it is this man's job to help her sort out all the reports and paperwork that has materialised since starting the league. He seems well used to dealing with Irnai's rants and occasional morbibity. Wavespeaker Kelas: One of two of the Island Priests. Brother Jamid: An acolyte. Sister Alket: Another acolyte of Kelas. Forces (Or what kind of island hicks we have) Mostly consists of humans but there are a minority of nephil (mostly refugees). Holy Priests: Two priests of the island religons and between them five acolytes. Military: Town Guards Soldiers Archers Island Milita (Count as scouts) (Numbers will be filled in later) Citizens: Fishermen Sailors Farmers (In Gebra) Artisans A smattering of merchants (Most left after the Dominion took over) One Mage Our Presence (Or everything that is ours) We control the following towns: -Gebra -Gorst -Garne -Lost Isle Town (Name Pending) -Various small settlements on the island Or lands are the islands in SE Karnold. -Some alchemical substances can be found on the islands as well as many venoms. -Fishing is good. -An ancient temple has been discovered and is currently being explored. Who we Know (Or Everyone whose out to get us one way or another) The Dominion:The group of mages that controlled the islands before the league claimed it back. Currently the Dominion is tolerating this for they have bigger fish to fry. A trade agreement is being discussed. The Hunters:Known through reports and stories from both human and nephil refugees. Disliked. The Guild:Known via the mage Mrrsa who is a member (currently retired). The Looters: Have been contacted by this group with offer of alliance. Mystery Group: Forshadowing! Where we will and wont be (Alt. Our tour list) Likely: Around the southeast Valorium coast and islands and maybe boats in the eastern and southern seas. No chance in Hell:Avernum :) The Summary (Or What's been Happening) : Introduction; discovery of old temple. Post 2: Forces sent to explore temple, Irnai outlines her plan to keep the mages off her islands. Also ponders human sacrifice. Mrrsa the mage begins a letter to the Guild. Post 3: The temple is explored. Prayer books are uncovered and the Altar is bound to the Island Gods (The Wavewalkers). Post 4: Gorst is being re-fortified and the books are studied. Mrrsa sends letter to Guild about untranslatable passage in one book. Post 5: Two boats, the Nipper and Holly are sailing in the Eastern seas to make contact with the towns Torria, Vila, Execa. http://www.ironycentral.com/cgi-bin/ubb/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic;f=1;t=003370;p=11#000254 Recieved offer of Alliance from Looters. --SE-est Karnold Island-- The next day, a small group of armed forces as well as two acolytes of one of the island churches were ferried over to the building. Harris, who was leading the team looked up at the forbidding stonework which had been over-run by undergrowth and took out a small stone. The kitty mage had taken a sapphire (Which had been obtained by unknown means) and had enchanted it with a true-sight spell. According to her all he needed to do was to say the magic phrase to activate it. "Chaikha," he muttered and the stone glowed. Suddenly he could clearly see in his mind every nook and cranny of the building. Taking available paper and ink he quickly sketched a rough map. "All right people, let's go," Harris said as he led the way in. --Garne (KIL Headquarters)-- Irnai was now in a foul mood. The source of this was another letter from the Dominion. Basically saying that they would quite gleefully walk over the islanders. "The pretentiousness of those-mages. How dare they believe that we are at their beck and call!" Her paperwork assistant looked up from an armoury report "Mistress, in terms of magical force they outnumber us utterly. You do know that." "Of course I do," she snapped "I realise we only have one mage-a very good one-but one noone the less." Irnai halted pacing and looked up sharply "And that is why we must prepare to fight them in other ways," "..." "Often enough mages find themselves vunerable to poisons. And our isles contain a host of poisons, the swamps to the SW have asps and other venomous beasts and plants. These very waters contain the paralysing Bloatfish and sea serpents-both deadly." "You want us to poison them?" "No, not yet anyway. What I want to see is the poisons harvested and the archers practising. I am not interested in open hostility with the Dominion but it pays to be prepared for suprises." Her assistant quickly noted these orders. "Anything else?" "Yes, have the guards on alert for mages. Tell them to leave the obvious ones alone. They are not anywhere but in Gorst and have business there. Instead search amoung the citizens. The Agents like infiltrating. Have them escorted to the closest town cells and I'll write a lovely long letter asking them to pick up their mages and please not to try it again." "Forgive me for saying this, but how will that convince them?" Irnai gave a knife-like smile "Our people have indulged in sacrificing thinking creatures to Welku for years. And he always did like magic folk." -------- Meanwhile Mrrsa was writing a letter to some old friends, a particular guild. To the guild. Interesting developments in the Karnold Isles have developed... -------- [ Friday, March 31, 2006 13:19: Message edited by: *Milla ] -------------------- Milla-Displacer Beastie This is also a good site Posts: 650 | Registered: Thursday, October 4 2001 07:00 |

Aran: I control the isles of SE Karnold Province. Although after reading the Dominion posts I realised my stuff contradicts what he has written. Damn! I'll have to change the circumstances a bit. Firstly, the naval forces of Gebra and Gorst may been severely damaged by the mages but our many fishing boats were left largely intact. Secondly, the mayors of the above towns did surrender so what do you say if my leader took control (elected) of Gorst and expanded from there. As well as setting up a trade agreement. Does this work? However if we catch any agents hanging around we may take them prisoner and sacrifice them to one of our Sea Gods. :) Can't you see I'm itching to write that? -------------------- Milla-Displacer Beastie This is also a good site Posts: 650 | Registered: Thursday, October 4 2001 07:00 |

I'm in the game now. Yay! @The guy who plays the Dominion: In the description I wrote that my faction trades fish with yours, for gold I believe. Are you ok with this? @TM my faction's resident mage is most very likely to be a member (or former)of the Guild. -------------------- Milla-Displacer Beastie This is also a good site Posts: 650 | Registered: Thursday, October 4 2001 07:00 |

OoC: Editing Description IC: Mistress Irnai pinched the bridge of her nose as she looked up at Sgt. Harris. His latest report was troubling. "You mean to tell me that the Hunters are heading eastwards? This is most troublesome, I have heard stories about how people act when under their influence." Harris nodded "Aye, mistress and the Dominion may ally with them-" "What? if that is true I hope that the mages don't try and change the trade agreements," she looked back down at her paperwork "You are dimissed, please send Mrrsa in will you?" "Will do." Irnai settled back to reading the reports from the more distant islands when her nephil mage strode in "You called?" Mrrsa asked. Irnai had always wondered how the nephil, a rather tall race could produce one that closer in stature to a 10 year old human child to anything else. Irnai nodded and told her of the developments and ended with "I hope you have better news," "That I may have, one of the patrols on the most SE island say that they have discovered a very large stone building. Early reports suggest it may be a temple." Irnai considered this "A temple, you say? But why hasn't it been discovered before. Our people have lived here long enough, to know about some bloody huge building." Mrrsa's ears twitched "My best guess it was magically shielded and the ptarol stumbled on it by accident. Are you thinking of sending some people in to investigate? There still could be some interesting things still intact." The human smiled "Ever the adventurer you are. You people gravitate to forbidden temples of doom. The nephil did not deny this "It's just that we may be able to find some artifacts that we could use as bargining chips-especially with the Dominon." "That is a good point. I'll recruit a party tomorrow." "Very good, Mistress Irnai." "Don't be patronising." Faction Name:Karnold Isles League (KIL) Current Leader: Mistress Irnai- former Head Fisherwoman of Gebra now leader of her very own faction. Second in Command is Mrrsa-Nephilim Shaman/Mage. SpeciesHuman with Nephil minorities. Type of Government: Well, Irnai tells people what to do and they (generally) do it. Religion: The island people generally worship the local sea gods. Although there are records of an old Cult of Pain that existed at some point on the isles. Location:This faction currently controls the SE island chain of the Karnold Province. Main towns include Gebra although base of operations was moved inland to a smaller settlement to prevent naval attack. Description: After the Dominion destroyed the Naval fleet and forced the surrender of the island towns they rested easy safe in the knowledge that the area was under their complete control. They were wrong. Mistress Irnai, long time leader of Fishers galled at restraints Demetrius had put on her home. And she decided to do something about it. Gathering allies from all corners of the isles she was prepared to fight a bloody revolution when by fate she met one Mrrsa, nephil mage of considerable talent stuck in Gorst due to the Hunters. Mrrsa, seeing interesting possibilities in the situation persuaded Irnai to seek a less bloodthirsty route. One night all people in the pay of the Dominion were subdued in a coordinated attack. Although their blood was demanded as payment by some, Irnai's hand was stayed by wisdom. Instead she had all captured restrained and shipped back to Stormport where they were dumped sharply on the docks. With their leader, she sent a sharply worded note stating that the Isles would be back under the control of their people. Soon after she moved herself and an entourage to the smaller (And ignored) town of Garne. The Karnold Isles League was announced and Irnai was elected to lead. In turn she appointed Mrrsa as her second in command. I have a different problem. I can't get into the Skree Caves. Before I went into the game I installed the patch. The I went into my saved game which was in the Darkside Loyalists hideout (Which is entered from Saffron.) After reporting back to Saffron I went back to the hideout and then upstairs to the two gates. Except this time "I wasn't strong enough" but I had opened them before. The forums may have had a small impact on me getting BOA but it had no effect on me registering BOE and very recently-A4. Yes, I read the comments that people who had already played the games and I even agree some of the negative ones. However I played the demo and was intrigued enough to want to continue playing. -------------------- Milla-Displacer Beastie This is also a good site Posts: 650 | Registered: Thursday, October 4 2001 07:00 |
