If you use set_state_continue in the start_state, it will not come back and run the remainder of the start_state. So if the first lines are if(1) set_state_continue() the rest of your start_state will never be run. -------------------- Guaranteed to blow your mind. Frostbite: Get It While It's...... Hot? I have windows, not that it matters. And I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but it crashed on me as well. I'd say it's pretty much ruined. Edit: Oddly enough, I can enter the scenario using hte BoE app without problems. Maybe something can be salvaged from it somehow-- at least you can get your old texts. If you want, you can send me the .bas file and I'll try to open it on my comp, and see if it's really corrupt. m c l e o d 9 8 9 (at) yahoo (dot) com (take the spaces out of course) Edit: Wait, this is BoE? Well the offer still stands, just include the code if there is one. [ Thursday, May 17, 2007 07:55: Message edited by: Lazarus. ] -------------------- Guaranteed to blow your mind. No, you can't make the display any bigger. If it's any consolation, you can use the blank space to place your automap so it doesn't cover up your inventory. -------------------- Guaranteed to blow your mind. Frostbite: Get It While It's...... I submitted Frostbite recently, but haven't heard back from Jeff. It really wasn't that long ago, but I'll likely wind up sending him a reminder sometime soon. So I was wondering: how many scenarios are waiting to be placed on the tables? There are 8th contest scenarios that aren't on yet, and none of the ten from the 1/10 are up, so there's probably a good number. I know some authors have not (and will not) submit their scenarios to Jeff, but for those of you who HAVE and are still waiting, could you tell me here? I ask because eventually I'll send a class-action-harangue to get Jeff to update it. Oh, and in case Jeff reads this, SV's database should really be under 'Neat Stuff,' it's the most up to date database we have (I mentioned this when I first submitted FB.) By the way, the Black Sickness and Westra's Cookbook are both down, so you can lose those. -------------------- Guaranteed to blow your mind. Frostbite: Get It While It's...... Hot? I graduate highschool next week (wOOt) so I guess I now qualify to talk about majors and the like. I filled out my school's Preview prep form (Basically a weekend where you see the campus and sign up for courses) and I listed Chemical and Electrical engineering as my two potential majors. Those are probably the two specific majors I'm most interested in, but I'm still considering just about anything in the field of engineering. -------------------- Guaranteed to blow your mind. Here are some different spins on the results. Straight points rankings (10 points for a 1st place rank, 1 point for a last place rank) Alright, but these rankings aren't totally fair. Some scenarios received more rankings than others, so they accrued more points even if they were last place rankings. Here's a list, with number of rankings in the first parentheses and the average score (total/number of rankings) in the next parentheses. These seem more accurate than the previous set, but still aren't totally satisfactory. FB, BA, and KPWO each received significantly more votes than there were even voters (21 voters, BA received 30 votes) On the other side of the spectrum, Settlers, WH, and Stairway received 16 votes a piece. This throws a fairly large wrench in the poll, and arguably invalidates it. Some thoughts: It seems like the more 'noticeable' scenarios got the most votes. FB, which won the contest and received the most 1st place votes, likewise received 7 'extra' votes. KPWO, clearly the worst scenario and the consensus last place finisher, also got 7 extra votes, 2 of which were for 1st place. BA is kind of a mystery. It received the most votes of any scenario (30) and these votes don't really show a clear place where the 'serious' voters thought it belonged (FB and KPWO both have large advantages in their 'correct' spots, the top and bottom respectively. I'd argue that a lot of the votes saying otherwise were joke votes). As for BA, all I can think of is that BA is very distinctive. A very 'TM' scenario, made in 12 hours and clearly the kind of scenario that will stick in your mind (Then again so is Stairway, so who knows) No matter how you spin it, FB, SoG, and TV make up the top 3 spots (As expected). After that it gets kind of icky. [ Sunday, May 06, 2007 09:57: Message edited by: Lazarus. ] -------------------- Guaranteed to blow your mind. Frostbite: Get It While It's...... Hot? Congrats to everybody on a very successful and enjoyable contest. And of course I'd be remiss if I didn't add-- WOOT!!11!!1! Excalibur: Sadly, as a Windows user I am poorly equipped to answer these kind of questions. I have heard, however, that using different versions of Stuffit to extract the file can help. Also, if you download the Windows version and convert the graphcis yourself using Niemand's Graphic Adjuster 2 you should be fine. -------------------- Guaranteed to blow your mind. Match 1: Infernal I guess. She's more confrontational. Match 2: DV wins this one. Match 3: Who knows the Silent Assassins tricks bettter than Lord Grimm? Once his chainsaw ambush is foiled, Grimm wins easily. -Lord Grimm Match 4: "Do the chickens have large talons?" No, no they don't. Andraste wins. -Andraste Match 5: Undeath and resurrection are two different things, Lazarus is clearly human and immune to Nalyd's death control, or whatever the hell it is. Nalyd is left with the ability to talk in the third person, or some such nonsense. Lazarus has the Beast. -Get worked: Lazarus Match 6: Randomizer Match 7: This match quickly degenerates into a feeling-sorry-for-oneself and belittling-one's-own-scenario fest. Nikki decides to write a poem about how bad AGB was, and Nemesis cries himself to death. -Nikki Match 8: What kind of mother would Saunders be if she killed the boy next door? (A boy that's plotting her eventual death-by-upset, but still....) -Stew Boy -------------------- Guaranteed to blow your mind. Frostbite: Get It While It's...... Hot? You could include an "Ask about" node at the start of every dialog chain so that the player could use text input, like in BoE. Just a thought. -------------------- Guaranteed to blow your mind. Frostbite: Get It While It's...... Hot? Posts: 900 | Registered: Monday, August 8 2005 07:00 |

As Niemand said, put a print_str in each block of code, and see if all of them are getting called (which is probably what's happening.) That idea isn't really any different than webbing/paralyzing the character, except that the player would have to make that character wait every turn. Just kill the sucker and be done with it. :D -------------------- Guaranteed to blow your mind. Frostbite: Get It While It's...... Hot? Posts: 900 | Registered: Monday, August 8 2005 07:00 |
