I always use Alchemy a lot, at least in BoA. There are dungeons were your SP simply isn'r enough, and then you'll have to rely on potions and scrolls. I like potions. They do the some things I can do with spells, yes, but at least I don't use up SP. Sometimes, its also better to use a potions, if you have the feeling, or even a hint, that eventually you'll have to fight something big and ugly. So, yes. I invest in alchemy and also in first aid. Just sometimes, it can be really useful. Something else I uyse potions for: energy potions. Restoring SP when you don't have it anymore or even to little to be able to use it, is vital when fighting (at least for me). I advice you to at least be able to make enrgy potions or energy elixers, because they will help you greatly. -------------------- Play and rate my scenarios: Where the rivers meet View my upcoming scenario: The Nephil Search: Escape. quote:Um, No. Not really. It wasn't taken from then, and certainly not given to somebody by the one who took it from the Dutch. it actually was a trade between the newfound US (if it was already called like that back then), and Holland. We gave up New Amsterdam, but got Surinam back for it (A really stupid thing to do, if you ask me, but what can I do about it? ). -------------------- Thralni's almighty Avernum pages: My webpage, containing scenario's and graphics made by me (And maybe someday the homepage of the almighty chicken gods). I'm really sorry. I'm so extremely sorry. I guess I got carried away by the idea of fighting the party, and that just gave such a thrill, that I losst it and wanted to rush to get to them. I shall rewrite that post almost immediatly. I don't want this RP to die out, and already enough bad has happened Cain leaving. Sherlock! i'm so glad to see you. Sorry for the confusion. yes it was, stupid. I'll rewrite it. Okay? EDIT: I just rewrote it. I hope this is better. At least it makes more sense to at least myself now. quote:I experienced this too, but not only in outdoors. Also in towns I experience this. I can't show a screenshot, because I don't have website, but what the editor does, is that it sometimes doesn't draw walls. This giving a blank spot which you can't see through. Its not something majot, but it really can get me irritated if it happens on a really important spot. What you mentioned, kelandon, happens when you have a cliff or walls in outdoors at the border of two outdoor sections. Still it shouldn't happen, but the reason for this, is simply that when you work on one outdoor section, you don't work on the other, meaning that the editor will just draw the other section as if you simply are not working in it. This also means it will draw the walls in the mode of very low, like you showed in the screenshots. Something I also noticed, is that the editor ussually makes places much darker than they are in the game. Mainly walls are sometimes totally black in the editor, but in the game I can still see textures on the same walls. quote:There is a very easy way to fix this. icon offset is for when you have an icon and want an icon on top of that. But, what I understand from what you said, you want an other icon on top of the other two. You simply have to make a third icon of the top of the pillar and place it on a square directly behind the rest of the pillar. I advice you to look at the scenario "A large rebellion"in town number 3. There you have the same pillars (if I think this the type of pilar you mean). if you put an other object, say, a chair, on a spot directly north of were the pillar stands, you'll see that the top of the pillar vanishes. No no no! These are other soldiers! soldiers of Filbert's homeland. That illusion has nothing to do with Filbert and these soldiers. Were Filbert was dragged too, that room, its a smaller cave with a small room they found. These soldiers are a small army. Filbert is now their leader. I'll change that in the post were I mentioned them regarding Filbert's awakeing after he got possesed. -------------------- Thralni's almighty Avernum pages: My webpage, containing scenario's and graphics made by me (And maybe someday the homepage of the almighty chicken gods). About that second idea, there were also questions about that. Somebody on one of this threads answered, that with the appropraite calls (which I don't know) you could change the floor graphics. If you could make two slightly light versions of the dark gras grpahic and change the grass graphics around and in the city to this lighter version by night time and then at day time chanmge it back, you have your light. Alternatively, you could, like in Geneforge, make no outdoors and put everything in towns (also like in Bahssikava). -------------------- Play and rate my scenarios: Where the rivers meet View my upcoming scenario: The Nephil Search: Escape. OOC: I'm sory guys, I just can't resist the urge to just post. EDIT: This post has ben changed, in order to give the story more sense. I'll start with the moment woke up in that room. Its after he was moving by something he didn't see. He now wakes up. IC: His head was acking and all things looked blurry. His hearing was still good, though. Otherwise he wouldn't have heard the harsh, strange demonic voices, the hissing of lizards and the agonizing shouting of zombies, followed by the rather hi-pitched voices of spirits. It all sounded like there was a ceremony somewere in his near vicinity. Slowly by slowly, he could see better. First he saw the door of his small room, it was black and looked quite thick. It would be impossible to bash it open. Then he saw a small bench, supported by chans hanging on the wall. A skeleton, half zombie, because the flesh wasn't quite eaten away by small strange insects of which I wouldn't say what they did. He was scared. It loked like he was captured by something. Then he slowly remembered what had just happened: an intense fury, and a voice saying in his mind "hate, Cain, hate, Cain..." He heard a click and the door slowly opened. There they were. The spirits he heard. they took him out of his cell and brought him to a large room. It was ghastly. Big warped pillars, big black walls. On the walls were hanging torches, but a green light, a green fire burned in it. Strange. And there he was. At least, if he could understand what the undead were shouting, it was him. The demon. Orloki. Filbert was brought to the big black marble altar, and layed down in front of it. Orloki slowly began to speak: "Undead, my mighty army, this, is Filbert. He has a great strenght, but they didn't see it. The mortals. Yes! He was part of their team, until Cain and he invaded the temple, the place were you, part of my mighty undead army, were trying to break it open. My crystal prison. I possesed him, Filbert. I possesed him, and tried not to tet part of my essence go to Cain! But it happened. The hatred, against the party, Cain, is what fed me. And it will feed me again!" he took a small jewel from the altar. then he grabbed Filbert and held him in the air. "What... What is...." Filbert uttered... And then an intense pain shooted troughout his body. from his head to his feet and back, an enormous pain spreeaded in his limbs, he shouted... he screamed, it was no use. The pain went on, and on, and on... it was like it would NEVER stop.... But it suddenly stopped. Everybody was quiet. Orloki syill held Filbert, and looked at him with his big red eyes. The undead army looked at him, the Uruk hai, four of them against each wall, were looking at him... And was just held there by Orloki. Orloki put him down. "AWAKE!" he screamed at Filbert. He stood there. His head bent down, but his eyes glowed with an intense red light... Hate, CAIN, hate THEM all, YeS, HatE them ALL!!! . The voice kept repeating itself in Filberts mind. he slowly straightened his head, and looked at Orloki. he walked to the altar, and took the sword that was lying there. Then he kneeled in front of Orloki: "My lord... What is your first task for me?" Orloki looked at him, and a grin found its way to his face. "Yes. I AM your mighty lord. Kill the mortals. Kill Caecus. Kill Cain. Kill them all." The ceremony was interrupted whne loud bangs echod through the caves... "What was that!?" orloki shouted. "The mortals! They are ruining the caves! Quick! Filbert, you, and you (he pointed at Filbert and two Uruk hai's) Go to the mortals and CRUSH them!! OOC: I hope this is better then the previous thing I wrote. Social coditions yes, but only in the Middle east? no. Take for example my own country: Holland. We already had two political murders in maybe two years, while in maybe fifty years before that, we had none! Its mostly caused by the racisisme against mostly morocans, which, pardon me, I tend to understand. It are mostly morocans in Holland who actually are the troublemakers. However, this causes hatred among Morocans. Then there happens something like the murder of Van Gogh (does anybody still remember that?), and you have got hatred between two folks. The natives of the country, here the Dutch, say that they are frightened of the Morocans and have all kinds of prejudices, and the Morocans say that the Dutch are foolish rasists. Of course, the war in Iraq (which I really don't want to start about) also has its consequences. -------------------- Thralni's almighty Avernum pages: My webpage, containing scenario's and graphics made by me (And maybe someday the homepage of the almighty chicken gods). quote:Now Iprobably shouldn't start this, but I feel the enormous need to say this (I'm not anti-religion or something, for people who might think that after reading this post). You're right about the fact that religion generally holds on to the past. that is fine. And indeed, in times of progress religion can cause problems (like when Galilei discovered that the sun was the center of our galaxy and not the Earth. it was religion who said it was different and thereby halted progress for some years. Also, an other thing which is more current, is the fact that a religion itself doesn't seem to progress over time. Judaism and christianity seem to have passed their "bloody era", but now its the Islam that begins its "bloody era." What I'm saying is, that perhaps the Islam is a religion that is slower than other religions and still has to pass this era of terrorism against other religions (Christianity also had this bloody era, the crusades, but that was a long time ago. It already passed that era). Now I don't want to start a hole "muslims are good/bad" discussion, simply by the fact that people would most probably be offended, and we want to avoid that, don't we? -------------------- Thralni's almighty Avernum pages: My webpage, containing scenario's and graphics made by me (And maybe someday the homepage of the almighty chicken gods). quote:Once, all was good. Now music (also no classic music :( ) was on Earth, and peace was the ruler. Then came humanity, and started butchering animals, setting fire to the trees, large, green, full of woodily fluids (if you can say that). The point of this small story: Humans generally manage to destroy everything. You're right about peace. Was there once always peace (I mean, when humans already existed)? I don't think so... Maybe when the tribes that back then existed didn't met each other yet, but as soon as they met each other it became "war." And about the rock singer example: if you don't like rock music (like me), this may indeed be your answer, Icshi, although some people do like rock. You know what, I'll change the example in order to match me better: It may be the next Wagner or Rachmaninov. -------------------- Thralni's almighty Avernum pages: My webpage, containing scenario's and graphics made by me (And maybe someday the homepage of the almighty chicken gods).
