I really find it a pitty that I keep missing most of you guys. Btw Aran, do you have the pickaxe? Then I can buy it from you. Just come to Varrock or Lumbridge. My exact location I will tell you when we are logged in. I''ll be there at the normal times (18:30 GMT) -------------------- Play and rate my scenarios: Where the rivers meet View my upcoming scenario: The Nephil Search: Escape. Give us your drek! Kaboom!? I finnaly returned from Oxford, and the concerts were quite succesful. We, the Trombones (oh ok, also the rest of the orchestra) played nicely and the audience was ecstatic. For now only this quick report. Kelandon, I'm sorry if i give the impression that I hated Bahs. I found it the best I'v played so far and it really took me some time to find a scenario that looked and felt good. I guess I became spoiled after Bahs. Still, Maybe your right about personal tastes. Some things you would do different than me. For instance, again that pasage (which you didn't know what I were talking about: its the secret passage that lies in the place were you fight Galthrax about the place were Ithik appears and decends down and gets you out of the mountain, so you don't have to go throught the gate), you see these black gaps were the path decends one level. This, of course, is something with the graphics. Still I would have tried to make it so that you wouldn't see those gaps. About hastily made, I mean the designing and not specials and cutscenes and story aspects. Th point were you sat down and began simply to design the town. Its right that I still have to show my work, but I already made about 39 towns in my scenario, and all look very different. Without gaps and such, I mean. My taste is also probably different, which makes the towns also different. -------------------- Play and rate my scenarios: Where the rivers meet View my upcoming scenario: The Nephil Search: Escape. OOC: Yay!!! That is simply great! Í myself am quite pleased with this. IC: Edith came closer to Filbert and Tuulentekija. Then she stopped, filled with horror. filbert face was different... She couldn't say exactly what, but... The eyes. They were red, somehow. She sat down, pretending to do as if she hadn't seen a difference. Hmmm. She looks scared. We'll what she does. "Please, sit down, I think we have things to discuss." Edith sat down, a bit nervous, and Tuulentekija tried to sit up. After some tries, he finnaly succeeded in this. "So, what happened to you? You look hurt, although I didn't see you fighting... What happened?" Edith asked him. Filbert looked at her, narrowing his pupils. She is cleverer then I thought. "I was dragged away, to some strange room. There were undead there. I... I... I don't want to talk about it. He looks away from Edith. "Let's talk about what to do." Tuulentekija, trying to keep sitting, stared in the direction of the voice, his sight still covered by blood. He closed his eyes. Then he said: "So what do you suggest?" "We should move on. not stay to long in one place. It could save us." Slowly Filbert started walking. Edith stood up, took Tuulentekija by his side, and walked after Filbert. Suddenly, Filbert stopped. he pointed at something... The Edith heard it too, something big, two big things, flying sround in the cave in front of them. She quickly took some healing spores she had found were cain had died. She still tought it was strange, the way he died, but she chose there were more important things. She took the spores and sprinkeled some of them over Tuulentekija's eyes, who after some seconds stopped bleeding. Finnaly he could see. He stood up and looked at Filbert. The two creatures landed on the ground and waled slowly towrds the three of them. "Filbert! watch out!" Tuulentekija shouted, but Filbert didn't move. Instead, Filbert turned around, an evil grin on his face, and took the sword he go from Orloki in the temple. "Now, Edith, Tuulentekija, your time has come. Just like Cain, your death is certain. Don't try to make your death longer, cause you will only suffer more." Filbert and the creatures slowly came closer. "Don't be afraid. I'll make it short." OOC: I hope this is okay. if there are things people want changed, I'll see if I can change it. However, I'll only change it when it is something logical, and not something somebody just doesn't like to happen. I'll be able to change it only in a weeks time, though. -------------------- Thralni's almighty Avernum pages: My webpage, containing scenario's and graphics made by me (And maybe someday the homepage of the almighty chicken gods). Sorry, kelandon, I never manage to right it as it should be. The i was just a typo, because I write to fast. I never know if its one s or two, or one k or two. Oh well  Anyhow, now that is cleared up (although it was exactly the cutscene after Nolagh kar that started to confuse me), I have another question. How come to the instant I landed at the north river bend (I mean were you first see the golems), all towns eemed to me hastily made? Everything just looked, sorry Kelandon, but it all looked almost awfull! For instance, the big gaps on the path were you fight the fire golems before you even cross the river, you can see right through the cliffs! Also, you have these hilly pathes, for example at mountain Glathrax, after you defeated the dragon, you decend that path after going through the secret door, it looks quite bad. I suppose you had to do it that way because of lack of space, but really, for somebody with your experience I didn't like the last half of the story. Said that, I have the feeling I also have to say some good things. The cutscenes end SFX were really stunning, in one word: fabulous, brilliant or fantastic. I never felt such relief and happiness with a scenario as when the steel doors opened. That was really a good job. I also liked it that you could get all these friend and alies on your way through Bahssikava (did I spell it right?). That was all I have to say at this point. -------------------- Play and rate my scenarios: Where the rivers meet View my upcoming scenario: The Nephil Search: Escape. Give us your drek! I played Bahsikava, but still things are not clear for me. How was it possible for the Bahsikavans to come to the guard post? By the cave quack? Then how was it possible that Legare and his followers didn't come with them? -------------------- Play and rate my scenarios: Where the rivers meet View my upcoming scenario: The Nephil Search: Escape. Aha. That was a tirade as I never have seen or heard in my life. That about the bugbears being invisible and teleporting around constantly, don't be so pathetic! After seeing what did they were doing once, I formed a simple strategy (Noooo, I didn't look at the readme), I ran at them with my warriors and butchered them that it was almost pathetic to watch. Even my priest managed to strike them with 100 points a turn! -------------------- Thralni's almighty Avernum pages: My webpage, containing scenario's and graphics made by me (And maybe someday the homepage of the almighty chicken gods). quote:I know you guys weren't talking about this, but this particular subject just intreges me very much. Infinite in size? No. For as far as I read, the universe isn'r infinite in space. Its just growing with lightspeed. A very long time ago, there was nothing. Only blackness. No light, no nothing. At a certain point the "big bang" occured. Durin this big bang, a huge amount of energy came free, and the universe was born, thereby instantly making all rules of nature, of which humanity now knows of about 4,6%. But how does the universe grow? that's because of light. Light just continues on and on, thereby expanding the universe. That is, untill it collides with something and returns or goes on in another direction. Now I said this, here's one assumption: When light reflects in space and returns to, say, the Earth, were a human, say, me, receives the light and thereby seeing things, I actually just received light, radiation, of times when the universe just came into existence. But then how did matter came into existence? That's kind of a funny story. First, one had only radiation, energy and antimatter. invisble matter. You can't see it, but it is there. This antimatter devides itself in a split second in two part of matter. Now this all happens in the nucleus of the explosion. Thanks to enormous forces in the nucleus energy and radiation are shot into all directions. The forces are of course also working on this two small parts of matter. Usually the two parts of matter will form one piece of matter again after a split second. However, due to the enormous forces working on them, they are shot into different directions before they can turn into antimatter again. This way matter came into existence. So actually, after you think a while about this, what we know as planets, stars, Earth, actually is nothing. Weird thought. -------------------- Thralni's almighty Avernum pages: My webpage, containing scenario's and graphics made by me (And maybe someday the homepage of the almighty chicken gods). This kind of amuzes me, and I also find it a bit pathetic. For summary, let me understand: Synergy tries to say sorry for something that is recognised by others as an "unfair but balanced" review (I haven't read it). Now TM answered in a way that I interpret like "Don't apologise, its pathetic." I don't see why you would apologise, and also i don't see what's wrong with Canopy. I only came to the destrucyion of the bugbear religion, but think all was done in a rather nice way. Can somebody tell me the exact critiscism on Canopy and maybe give an example? Okay, some outdoor parts I think are badly designed, but that's the same opinion I have on one half of Bashikava (the part you are te defeat the dragon. As soon as you come with the boat to the shore to the north and get the introduction screen of that town (with all the golems), I think the design is quite bad, and stays bad till the end of the scenario. No, I think that, at least the part I have seen, was made rather good by TM. -------------------- Thralni's almighty Avernum pages: My webpage, containing scenario's and graphics made by me (And maybe someday the homepage of the almighty chicken gods). I've almost all of you on my list. My username indeed is Benthol, as was said twice, now three times. I previously said when I can be online, and when not, but I'll say it again for the heck of it: Time: 18:30 GMT world: 67 (ALWAYS 67, except when it doesn't work. Then it will be one of the Dutch worlds, probably 52) The coming week I'll be in Oxford to play "Bernstein's Mass" with my orchestra, so I wouldn't be there. However, today you'll still see me (that is, if you log in). I really can't log in at a time other then 18:30 GMT. If I do that, My mother will de furious. About trading and getting to levels on your own: big deal. I do nothing other then that. Past week I've managed to come to level 38 mining by just mining, mining and mining. My armor: I have steel body, kite shield and legs. That's because I ot them from a friend. i died and lost the helm and sword. Now I decided I'd ONLY wear things I made myself. So everybody who gives me something that I can easily sell, I'll sell it. doesn't matter how hard you worked for it. I'll go to the store and see wha't its value is, and then I'll try to find some idiot who wants to buy it for twice its worth. My general goal is to get to level 50 smithing, so I can make things for my friend, who first said It'll take me a loooooong time to make mithril things. he he. My small revenge  Trading with me? I won't buy anything, unless its really good. I'm usually the one selling the stuff. You are supposed (I think) to blow up the rock. The only way I found to defeat them, is simply by climbing on to the platform on which the rock stand in combat mode. But, before youy go up, bless and haste. Then, when the cutscene starts, you'll stand down the platform again. The places were the holy bears stand when they turn invisible is the same place as they stand when your turn to attack starts. So, what you have to do, walk with your warriors over to the bears, healing and hasting them, and hack them to pieces. That's how I did it. -------------------- Play and rate my scenarios: Where the rivers meet View my upcoming scenario: The Nephil Search: Escape. Give us your drek! Hmmm. I'll check that. I'll edit when I've checked it out. Thanks for pointing this out. Didn't know there was a real difference. EDIT: Yes, you were right. it was in the START_SCEN_STATE. So then putting it in the START_STATE is a good idea. Thanks all! Oh! I know that feeling. If we would get experience for feeling that particular feeling, i would be level 134 by now! My advice: get a better pickaxe (which I'll come to ina minute) or get a higher level in mining. Now its not hard to get a mithril pickaxe. Simply go to the Dwarven mines just east of the barbarian village (which is east from varrock). There you can easily buy one. You can't make pickaxes yourself though. If you want to buy a better pickaxe: steel pickaxe: 500g mithril pickaxe: was it 1500g? adamantite pickaxe: 3200g I use a steal myself. I don't want to be able to mine with one swing of the pick. it spoils the fun. -------------------- Play and rate my scenarios: Where the rivers meet View my upcoming scenario: The Nephil Search: Escape. But how often is the START_STATE run? Is it every time you move, or only when you enter the scenario? I think its the former, because the dialog box I put to appear upon entering the scenario is in the START_STATE and it only runs once: The one moment you enter the scenario. -------------------- Play and rate my scenarios: Where the rivers meet View my upcoming scenario: The Nephil Search: Escape. There is this nice Empire fort, in which sits the chief Empire liaison for Riverrod province. Then this big enemy army comes and destructs the hole fort and its soldiers, and the empire liaison. i just want to let the party knows this is happening. What I want, is a message like with the destruction of the tower of magi. A warning so you know what's happening, and to let the party come to the fort (although they can only hwatch and enjoy the cutscene). I haven't looked in a scenario for examples, because of the simple reason I wouldn't were to look and were even to start looking. So, the question is: How do imake such a message, and in which script do I put them? Scenario script (that's were I put a special node setting a flag at a certain day, but I don't know if this is good or bad)? -------------------- Play and rate my scenarios: Where the rivers meet View my upcoming scenario: The Nephil Search: Escape. You are probably in the sewer part with on the way out a huge door with a chain. Now go to that place were it seems like actual buildings. Its at the north eastern corner of this patch of sewers. When there, clear all the webs, until you find a wooden box (it stands in the vicinty of the water). Now search it and you'll find a key. If you don't seem to find it, first go back to the huge locked door and try again (at least I think that helps). The key you find is to unlock the door. -------------------- Play and rate my scenarios: Where the rivers meet View my upcoming scenario: The Nephil Search: Escape. Give us your drek! So I finnaly got the second, modified version, but I don't have vacation anymore. This means I'll only be ablt to test it in the evenings or half an hour, and 'next week I'll be in Oxford.
