quote:What an odd thing to say. Have you bought into the notion that slavish devotion to televised sports coverage is the sole measure of a person's personal interest? Shall we just roll up the newspapers and internet news sources and toss them? ... Did I just espouse a viewpoint in common with Fatman? -------------------- quote: Posts: 4114 | Registered: Monday, April 25 2005 07:00 |

The Mayan Empire was a Good Thing. It contributed vicious deities, conspiracy theorist legends, and a mysterious disappearance. And the artifacts are cool too. Just don't tell 'em where ya got it. ;) -------------------- quote: Posts: 4114 | Registered: Monday, April 25 2005 07:00 |

quote:This seems to be a common theme amongst forum denizens. Why on earth does the venue matter? A person's morals stay the same regardless of fear of exposure. If you are implying that the internet allows you the freedom to be the person you are, then so be it. I would hesitate, however, to be your friend if your primary reason for polite behaviour was not a sincere desire to be polite, but instead a compulsion to follow societal norms without regard for your inner being. Perhaps it is only in the darkness of the internet that a person's true self can be seen. The Emperor doth wear a revealing garment. -------------------- quote: Posts: 4114 | Registered: Monday, April 25 2005 07:00 |

It never ceases to amaze me. When a person is self aware enough to realize that their words will continue the torment, they press Add Reply. This means one of several things. They could be trolling, they could enjoy the attention, and they could just not care what is said. Either way, it all adds up to lots of fun for the observers. Thanks Thralni, and Synergy too! -------------------- quote: Posts: 4114 | Registered: Monday, April 25 2005 07:00 |

It sure is nice seeing new "faces" on the forum. It is that diversity of thought and opinion which keeps us all young at heart. ... *snicker* ... No, really, keep up the posting rate. The more I laugh at you, the less compulsion I feel to post in retribution. If it worked on Tully, it will work on anyone. -------------------- quote: Posts: 4114 | Registered: Monday, April 25 2005 07:00 |

quote:Is this what it is about Apple products that creates such a fanatical following? I love using tools, and I have quite a collection of original art, but I've never dreamed of tools being viewed as artwork. (This isn't a start to a flamewar) Is this why people that own Apples do own them? And why the rest of us don't? Could it simply be that part of society prefers to have aesthetically pleasing tools, and the rest don't? Maybe some sociology grad student could set up a research project to discern if the functional tools in an Apple home are of one type, and the PC home owns a different type. If this is the case, then the rift will never be closed. If in fact there ever was a rift. After all, (except for some Pentiums) math equations can be solved equally well on either machine. -------------------- quote: Posts: 4114 | Registered: Monday, April 25 2005 07:00 |

quote:A person would have a hard time exposing themselves to enough media outlets to gather the type of intelligence you recommend. The analysis and sifting out of bad information would take a lifetime, and by that time it is useless. Unlike the newspaper era, when competing editors would only influence readers in a small area, today's media has a worldwide voice and can polarize many millions. Examples include NPR, FoxNuz, AirAmer, and BBC. Political agendas shape the news we hear. The opinions we form are largely based on the limited information we recieve. If it seems Americans support Isreal, that is because the foreign press reports it that way. I'll let you figure out how that is to their advantage. -------------------- quote: Posts: 4114 | Registered: Monday, April 25 2005 07:00 |

Aran, you realy are a case study. *sigh* In other news, who cares? If your boss gives you crap about things you posted online, explain to him the purpose. It effectively replaces a conversation (dinnertable, etc) and serves to blow off any steam and return your mind to an even keel for maximum efficency at work. Then ask him how many times he complained about your work habits to his wife/lover/boyfriend. ... Yeah, that's the ticket. -------------------- quote: Posts: 4114 | Registered: Monday, April 25 2005 07:00 |

quote:So, you need some information on key lime pie. Well, back in my day we didn't have keys. Sure we had locks and such, but that was just for looks. No one could afford to lock them. And limes were some fancy thing that the flappers had in their drinks. Oh boy those gals were something, all dancing and whatnot. And the drinks!! Man, they knew how to make some hootch back then. Pure alcohol, with just a little appalachiasweat for flavor. It got so a fellow could tell the maker just by the taste. I need a nap... Why do you ask so many questions? The advent of another Windows "product" makes this release especially sticky. I think he's trying to satisfy past (Win 2k), present (WinXP), and future. But the game does look pretty slick. He's done real well by us. -------------------- WWtNSD? Posts: 4114 | Registered: Monday, April 25 2005 07:00 |
