Aran - you could evaluate posts for quality by deducting value for every instance of name dropping and every instance of URL linking within IronyCentral. That should demote 90% of the offenders. Replies that include quotes from 2 or more members should be given extra value. Once you determine the mechanics of the judging, don't publish them. It can be the meta-game! Figure out how to structure your posts to get a better ranking! This should allow you (Aran) to feed your power-hungry soul, as you tweak the bot to persuade posts that are more and more to your liking. :D -------------------- quote: Posts: 4114 | Registered: Monday, April 25 2005 07:00 |

I was considering a topic when the sum of all my posts reached a prime number. That turned into a project I could easily forget, which seems successful. Congratulations on your many cartoons. You entertain me. -------------------- quote: Posts: 4114 | Registered: Monday, April 25 2005 07:00 |

I think NZST is either 6 or 7 hours behind East Coast US time. Plus a week. Or something like that. I had wondered why there was no transcript of this chat on Shadowvale. It hadn't happened yet. My implants should have been repaired then. Drat. Looks like I've been abandoned by the RWC. Or I never joined. Always tough to figure that one out. -------------------- quote: Posts: 4114 | Registered: Monday, April 25 2005 07:00 |

If I need caffeine I drink coffee or tea. If I want fizzies, I drink flavored sparkling water or club soda. I don't drink beverages that contain sweeteners, unless it is cane sugar. Most mass-produced pop contains some sort of manufactured sugar, which I feel I get enough of in more normal foods. Like lime flavored Doritos. Mmmm. Artifical flavorings. Mmmmmm. Must. Resist. Need. To. Drive. To. Grocery. Now. Bye. -------------------- quote: Posts: 4114 | Registered: Monday, April 25 2005 07:00 |

quote:Nope. Stop right there. I'd blame her. She is the only one to blame, since she writes the durn things. Of course if other people wrote stories too, or parts of stories, then it would be a little less jarring when things like this happen. In other news, Diki will change my title after reading this post. :P -------------------- quote: Posts: 4114 | Registered: Monday, April 25 2005 07:00 |

quote:I think that what other people are addressing as a complaint against religion is that it occasionally is used to combat the unknown without first seeking to understand it. It may be all well and good for the Mormans to prosletize in countries that don't share their faith, but do they do it with full understanding of the total affect is has on the subject culture? -------------------- quote: Posts: 4114 | Registered: Monday, April 25 2005 07:00 |

Although, maybe this is part of that capture-tag-release project which lures more mini-mods in from the wild. Edit - Congratulations to the splash of smoke for maintaining a fragile postcount. quote:I just trying to suggest that all this crap about religion causes this, or political scheme causes that are pure ****. Being a human being causes strife. Being a human being causes pain. Being a human being causes pleasure. Being a human being causes joy. Trying to blame this on artificial constructs obscures the reality, placing blame and giving reward where it doesn't belong. ... That's what I was addressing. It made sense, sort of, except that several other posts intervened. Who would have thought that a RT topic would recieve this many replies? -------------------- quote: Posts: 4114 | Registered: Monday, April 25 2005 07:00 |

quote:So, when I say quote:you feel that it is a fair statement to make because I used the word "probably"??? No. You may imagine the other posters as having certain lives and habits, but without concrete proof, it is your imagination. It is you, making excuses for other people. It is you. If you have a hypothesis, by all means bring it up. We need more discussion on the socioeconomic breakdown of forum members. Really. And could someone please put a sheet over the horse? It's clearly dead. These forums only exist to further the capitalistic dreams of Mr Vogel. There are extremely strict guidelines for posting and maintaining membership. That, in itself, may be a primary reason for the state of the General forum. -------------------- quote: Posts: 4114 | Registered: Monday, April 25 2005 07:00 |

quote:This Sunday, coming up, you have the opportunity to watch the Oscars. It is a celebration of celebrity, complete with life-time achievement awards. Most of normal television is structured to entertain by being something with which the viewer identifies and enjoys. So in short, despite this community's averred aversion to all things television, we perhaps garner the same satisfaction from the totality of the forum that those couch potatoes receive from their mindless, ad-driven drivel. :D -------------------- quote: Posts: 4114 | Registered: Monday, April 25 2005 07:00 |

1. I don't like Apples at all. 2. There are always consequences, by definition. Are you talking about societal consequences, both negative and positive? Example: I wave my arms in the air lazily. Possible Consequences: I'm locked in the looney bin. I've wasted whatever time I spent waving my arms unless the intention was incarceration. I gain the adulation of all the fantasy nerds for my immaculate re-conception of the summoning of the Ur-Noob. An Apple appears in mid-air and I grasp it. So please, cite an example so we can all start on common ground. This strikes me as a deeply silly discussion and I will gladly add my insanity to it. -------------------- quote: Posts: 4114 | Registered: Monday, April 25 2005 07:00 |

quote:You would help your case if you only talked about why you are here. Speculating on the motivations of others is what leads to trouble. Or hilarity. Consider yourself corrected. -------------------- quote: Posts: 4114 | Registered: Monday, April 25 2005 07:00 |

I wonder if the creators of Seinfeld could sue for intellectual property rights infringement. Diki is writing stories that place the Spiderweb forums, and the people that visit them, within the artificial realm of the games made by Vogel. They are not about the games, or the company, but about the people that visit the forums. Maybe if a character in Diki's story started writing poetry? Would you then see Alec's point? -------------------- quote: Posts: 4114 | Registered: Monday, April 25 2005 07:00 |

In brainstorming ideas on this, I wondered if people have tried running any of the spy-ware finder software (Ad-aware, Spybot, etc). All this talk about memory drain makes me wonder if malware isn't somehow involved. -------------------- quote: Posts: 4114 | Registered: Monday, April 25 2005 07:00 |
