The only cheat I use on a regular basis is "backtostart" when I'm too far from a town or pylon to walk. I have used healing cheats from time to time, but I would rather not if possible. Posts: 2032 | Registered: Wednesday, January 26 2005 08:00 |
Different Magic For Each Class in Geneforge Series | |

I seem to play GF a bit differently than most in the sense that my combat style mixes the classes. My Agent relies on melee more than magic, but uses magic for tough battles. And, of course, my Agent always has two Drayks with her. This works well for me, and I usually end up stronger than if I made a magic based Agent. My Shaper is able to fight for her/himself, and is not reliant on the creations, though I always have a small pack following me around. My Shapers primary attack is melee, and magic is secondary. This has also worked very well for me. So, IMO, I'd like to keep the spells I'm familiar with open to all classes rather than specialized, as it restricts the player to more linier character choices. He can't talk, thankfully, The Ornkskin gloves are very much worth the fight, but in my experience the Ornk keeps walking away and ending combat. I figured I'd let him be, but every time I walked away it would fallow me a couple steps before biting me and running off again. Posts: 2032 | Registered: Wednesday, January 26 2005 08:00 |

I had a dream last night that I found myself in a strange office, which looked like a doctor's office but it really wasn't. There we're two offices like that, and I seemed to just be in one then I'd suddenly be in the other. Both the doctors that worked there wanted to take my blood. The first one I called the sinister man, and he had a comforting presence. He was very kind and gentile, but he wanted to give my blood to people that the presence of frightened me. The people I saw there that were having their blood taken had a single IV, but seemed to be almost unconscious. The second doctor I called the innocent man, and he had a very worrisome presence. He was very dominating, and always honest. He wanted my blood for himself (I have no idea why). The people that he was taking the blood from each had six IV needles all in a row, but seemed to be experiencing bliss. A lot of conversations and experiences happened with both doctors, but I can't remember most of them. The first doctor had a forbidden cave that I wanted to explore, and found a portal, which had to be destroyed. The second had a very sick elderly man, which I had to help escape. Apparently I chose the second doctor, as I was suddenly watching my blood being taken up thought six IV tubes. Posts: 2032 | Registered: Wednesday, January 26 2005 08:00 |

I tend to think of oldbie vs. newbie as more of behavior, attitude, and how they fit in with the community. Some people have been here a couple years, and posted over 3,000 times, but are still unable to recognize what is socially acceptable and liked. Others joined fairly recently, have few posts in comparison to others, but also fit in with the community's brand of insanity. It seems BoX design, beta testing, and being very helpful with game and scripting questions would help as well. Posts: 2032 | Registered: Wednesday, January 26 2005 08:00 |

Jeff makes his games in such a way that you can start at any point in the series you like. It does help to play them in order, but it's not necessary. I can't really give an estimate of how many hours it took me to finish the games, but they are fairly large. You can use the same copy for both computers. The main difference between A4 and the trilogy is that A4 uses the Geneforge engine instead of Avernum's. This makes some differences in how combat and dialogue works, but A4 is still turn based like the previous Avernums. Edit: As far as what game to start with, if you don’t mind playing out of order I would recommend A2. I'm going to stay out of this for the most part due to personal connections. 9/11 was a terrible tragedy, much the same as any incident in history that caused several thousand deaths. America tends to hold 9/11 in a special light, and sees it as more of a tragedy than what we have inflicted on others. I feel that to be just as absurd as saying 9/11 was inconsequential due to greater numbers having died before them. Bush has milked 9/11 for everything from bombing civilians in Iraq, his reelection, to removal of our freedom one protective measure at a time. 9/11 caused those close to where the planes hit, and those who were close to them to suffer, but it has also caused a great portion of the nation to support Bush getting away with murder. The only time I use "lol" is in chat rooms, and sometimes "lmao" if something is exceptionally funny. I never liked "rotfl", it has too many letters, but a friend of mine uses it in place of "lol" so I've gotten used to seeing it. In fast paced chats or MMORPGs one tends to get used to using abbreviations. Things like "ffs", "rly", "ppl", and "omg" can be part of my regular conversations depending on where I am. I wouldn't ever use them here, but there are times it would be too hard to keep up with the conversation if I didn't. My Agent is often named "Ayame", " Kaiya ", or "Kaida". All of which are Japanese names, as is my current PDN. This comes from early childhood experiences that bring back fond memories, as well as the type of bodywork I do. Posts: 2032 | Registered: Wednesday, January 26 2005 08:00 |
