Historical distortion. And to add to the last post, nuclear power shouldn't be abolished, because even if the atom bomb is the most destructive controllable force on the planet, nuclear power itself brings incredible worthwhile benefits. -------------------- May the fires of Undeath burn in your soul, and consume it. Meh. . . **** you. No offense. . . but **** you. Seriously, though, Trakovites are like people who want to abolish nuclear energy. It won't happen, because everyone is afraid that someone will hold out, and almost everyone would hold out, too. Exactly. The Human, Servile, and even the Drayk portions of the Rebellion are woefully under-equipped to face the Shapers. Southforge fell even with almost all of the Shaper forces concentrated on the Drakons to the north. While Litalia's city-camp isn't too bad off, they would pose little threat to Shapers unburdened by threat of the Drakons. To E.T.- Creation rights and removal of restrictions of Shaping are just plain not worth it. The deaths of hundreds, if not thousands, of innocent humans and creations, and the unleashing of a nigh-unstoppable menace on half of the world, just so that the few survivors might - might - eke out a bloody existence among the shattered ruins and acidic soil for centuries, is not worth it. Period. If the Rebels were less. . . extremist, then there would be no question about siding with them. Half of the Shaper soldiers only side with them because of the devastation wreaked by the Rebels. Well, the degree of genocide practiced by Hitler more or less exceeded the degree of destruction practiced by Stalin. And the destruction of the Rebels exceeds the genocide of the Shapers. What other villages are there? Nalyd can only recall two abandoned Shaper villages (Not counting Poryphra), and both were being tirelessly occupied by troops from one side or another, and being vigorously attacked by both sides. The farmers around Rivergate had all been withdrawn into the city, and there simply weren't any other towns. By the way, Nalyd is getting damn annoyed with all the "Vive la crappy Rebellion figure" signatures. But that simply won't happen, unless almost everyone capable of Shaping was almost simultaneously assassinated. If a non-Shaping army wages war on an army with Shaping, they will be decimated. Nalyd also does not want it to happen. The elimination of Shaping for military means, perhaps Nalyd would support, but the abolishment of Shaping?. . . No. As to Rebels vs. Shapers, Nalyd would definitely agree that they're both almost equally evil. The Shapers are synonymous to the Mafia and other organized crime in their "protection" policies, and they have taken creation inferiority, creation slavery, the lack of Shaping more intelligent and less subservient creations, slavery, oppression of common people through Shaping, and rigid, foolish control of Shaping almost to the point of a religion. The Rebels, on the other hand, are engaged in the self-destructive practice of self-Shaping, are blood/power hungry, and desperate. That is not a good combination, and even if they do win, how long will their government last before another blood and body-strewn Rebellion? The Drakons simply weren't designed for peacetime, and Nalyd can't imagine them having a stable government for any length of time. As things stand, Nalyd would be forced to side with the Shapers. He doesn't foresee massive casualties under their rule, and a stable governmental structure seems likely, if not assured. If the Drakons did not rule the Rebellion, Nalyd would certainly side with them, but the death of the Drakons would more or less doom the Rebellion. As to the Trakovites. . . Nalyd stated his views on Shaping before. Elimination from warfare, possibly (Though horribly unlikely), but elimination? Not ever. If given any choice, Nalyd's preferred faction would be- Complete creation freedom, excepting cases (like Ornks) where they would not be intelligent or independent enough to choose. In those cases, Shape future generations to be more intelligent and independent. Very loose control of Shaping, like everyone being required to take an aptitude test and them being expelled if they show a tendency to irresponsible Shaping. NO self-Shaping of species intelligent enough to choose freedom or slavery. This includes no canisters or Geneforges. No social elevation of Shapers, or their equivalent. Perhaps on par with mages as being valuable sources of knowledge and skilled in combat. Nalyd sees the need for the right to protest, though, personally, he regards them as generally useless. In this case, Nalyd also does not agree with the "issue". If you attend a private school, you can go without myspace for a few hours. Posts: 1636 | Registered: Wednesday, January 5 2005 08:00 |

Seoth had been born over fifteen thousand years ago, under the watchful eyes of the complete original pantheon, in the comparatively tiny fledgling city that would become the Golden Republic. It had been established and was run by several religiously apathetic councilmen fleeing the brutal Land of the Rose. Other refugees had joined their pitiful jumble of shacks, to create the mid-sized walled city that currently existed. As such, every religion had more or less free rein. There was no established majority, and almost every deity (and a few dead ones) were represented. Seoth, who had originally been named Feahso Drok'tur, had been born to an influential mage, named Mesteln. He had been raised only by his father, his mother having mysteriously disappeared after one of his atheistic father's gods-debunking "sermons". His father had been a mediocre mage at best, but a member on the then-oligarchic city's council. He hadn't been very good at that, either. Mesteln had alway been too preoccupied with politics or magecraft, and hadn't really known how to deal with children, so Seoth had been given, more or less, free rein. By the age of four, he had explored every nook and cranny of the small city, and knew most everyone in it. At the age of six, he had been brutally molested by a traveler and left armless in a back alley. His father had paid an expensive High Priest for complete healing, and had never mentioned it again. In Seoth's teenage years as a young warlock, he had tracked down the nameless traveler, one Nendo Feks, and magically tormented him for weeks on end. He had followed in his father's footsteps, and then surpassed him in leaps and bounds, becoming the Head of Magery in the city, and one of the most feared members of the growing Council. After his father was slain by the God of Storms himself, and strangled with his own entrails, at Seoth's age of seventeen, Seoth had endeavored to become skilled with weapons as well, but had proved proficient only with a long, thin, bladed staff. He met Callia in his mid-twenties, then a priestess in the growing Temple of Nenraset, the Patron of Physicians. He had become romantically involved with her throughout the next five years, and married her at the age of thirty. There were no children. He passed his time slowly conquering the city until, in his early sixties, he held it in his absolute power. No less than fourteen assassination attempts failed on him. At this time, he devoted his time to better understanding (and conquering) the gods of the still-whole original pantheon. Holy Mother Callia was opposed to this, and tension grew between them. He had brought the armies of his now-blooming city, along with all the priests and mages and peasants with pitchforks, along with him on his hunt for the God of Storms, who was known by no other name. Everyone except him and Callia died penetrating into the palace of the god, and Callia had been mortally wounded, saved only by a misfired healing spell. Seoth had faced the god alone. And he had triumphed, calling upon all the might of his power and all the training of his mind before slaying the monstrous god with his own bolt of true lightning. Turning his back on the city he had ruled and the mortal life he had once held, he now took the name of Seoth, and ruled his domain with ferocity, unleashing storms upon every great empire, firing great monsoons into the heart of the desert, and drying the land for thousands of miles. There was a method to his madness. He was confident that he was the most powerful god, with the might of the heavens at his beck and call. He was wrong. The God of the Balance, also known by no other name beat him into submission and unconsciousness, leaving a battered and bloody god leaking ichor onto the floor of his ruined palace, before pausing before the last blow, smiling, and guiding Seoth's bladed staff into his own breast. Seoth knew now that it was on command from the Balance. -------------------------------------------------- OOC:That's all for today. -------------------- May the fires of Undeath burn in your soul, and consume it. That is to avoid a bias. Nalyd, personally, does believe that it was justified, even if he was protesting non-segregation in schools. He should not have hand-picked students. It will probably not work. Protests rarely do. If it works, Nalyd believes that it will probably be tried again and again, until someone higher up gets sick of it. Nalyd, personally, is disillusioned towards protests, but recognizes the right for people to hold them. -------------------- May the fires of Undeath burn in your soul, and consume it. Nalyd's original name was "Doomer". He was ten. Give him leeway. After not posting for several years, Nalyd changed his name to "-X-", and began posting. After a period of name-changes, including "Dr. Strange", Nalyd settled on "Thoughts in Chaos", a Starcraft quote. "Nalyd" is Nalyd's real name, Dylan, backwards. -------------------- May the fires of Undeath burn in your soul, and consume it. Posts: 1636 | Registered: Wednesday, January 5 2005 08:00 |
