Nalyd has always wondered about the scarcity of magic on the boards. If it's at all possible(and this isn't a request, merely a way of Nalyd saying what he would do), Nalyd would definitely learn magic. As much as possible. The majority of the Rebels are not canister-mad, but their leaders or most powerful members (With the possible exception of Gretchen) are. Or, they have the almost racial madness of the Drakons. And, if they aren't too addicted to canisters, they won't hesitate to distribute them among the "lesser" soldiers. Well, it was a very good book, despite the fuzziness towards the middle. Quite admirable, along with the rest of His Dark Materials.
