Congratulations! You're that much closer to the inevitable perma-ban! That, by the way, is Nalyd's new saying for post-count milestones. -------------------- May the fires of Undeath burn in your soul, and consume it. Posts: 1636 | Registered: Wednesday, January 5 2005 08:00 |

The "Khai of Khem". Incredibly gory. Wonderful book. It's probably at the library. -------------------- May the fires of Undeath burn in your soul, and consume it. Posts: 1636 | Registered: Wednesday, January 5 2005 08:00 |

Seoth's probably at that point. What with the gory unconsciousness. Nalyd hadn't been able to mutter gruesome things to himself for weeks. He needed an outlet, plus unconsciousness is probably better story-wise. -------------------- May the fires of Undeath burn in your soul, and consume it. Yes, the Shapers are trying to genocide the Drakons, and the Drayks before them. But that's not a bad thing. The Drakons are, as a whole, arrogant, greedy, violent, etc. It's quite simply their nature. The Drayks, which started the whole thing, were less justified, but the Shapers cannot afford mercy when it comes to Shaping. You think the Drakons don't want a "quick, clean war" to commit mass genocide? Everyone wants a quick, clean war, except for the overly spiteful or Valhalla-type believers. As Nalyd recalls, the Drakons struck first, whether or not the Shapers exterminated the Drayks. Quite simply, no, Nalyd would prefer that all humans died, now. But that's a bad analogy. The average Drakon is generally worse than the average human. The average human is not a Shaper. Nalyd has to leave now. Evil mother. -------------------- May the fires of Undeath burn in your soul, and consume it. Posts: 1636 | Registered: Wednesday, January 5 2005 08:00 |

Yes, it should be in the Geneforge Series forum. but Nalyd was here and is lazy. The pun in the title was intentional. Poll Information This poll contains 4 question(s). 1 user(s) have voted. A nice, reasonable explanation that keeps Seoth from becoming a god-among-gods. Gory enough for you? It's now Eph's turn, Nalyd believes. -------------------- May the fires of Undeath burn in your soul, and consume it. Posts: 1636 | Registered: Wednesday, January 5 2005 08:00 |

Seoth looked on in horror as the burning life of Krasonva oozed out of the horrific wound in her chest. The skin surrounding the sparking blade began to char and rupture, and gore oozed out of the cracking gashes. The flames surrounding Callia dispersed quickly, leaving only the ravaged body of a human in their wake. Seoth bent his head in silent mourning, and gauzy shrouds of black manifested themselves around his body, traditional funeral robes. A shuddering energy crackled from the dead body into his hands, and Seoth gasped in pain. The energies of Krasonva the goddess passed into his body, those of fire and purity, righteous anger, kindness, and. . . Good. Good was not a static force, one unchanged and reigning in golden purity over eternity. The Balance, or the physical representation of that Balance, a massive, towering construct of clockwork, chains, rope, springs, cogs, and a million million more unnamed parts and materials, each covered with runes and glyphs, perceptive to whatever force they represented in the massive machine, determined each of the near infinite amount of forces and to which degree each was championed by every god, mortal, and everything else, every minute and irrelevant detail recorded in ancient scripts known only to the Gods of Balance on a massive pedestal, crawling with living ink. Seoth championed multiple forces, true, but the Balance first and foremost, and he only championed those others because the Balance determined that they needed him as a champion. The absorption of each of those forces had been a painful thing, wracking his body and mind until the Balance had reached it's conclusion. But now, this, this openly rebelled against him. These new forces entered him and fought against his entrenched Balance. Fires wracked through Seoth's body, spurting out of patches of skin only to dive back into his soul, seeking a place there. Golden mists spurted from his eyes and pores, burning fires wreaking massive internal damage in the space of seconds. And the firestorm of his soul went on for many minutes. Eventually, the new energies fled him, seeking solace and welcome in likehearted mortals. But they left a shattered and ruined body behind. Every bone in his body must have been shattered in a dozen places, his organs ripped into tatters and blood seeping like water through horrific burn-trails. His muscles were ripped and torn, his arms bent horrifically, as if jointed a hundred times more. Blood spread in a pool around the twisted mockery of godhood, splashing out of a thousand pinprick wounds. And, horrifically, he was still alive and conscious, every breath he drew drawing spasms of pain throughout his twitching self. And he would not be dying anytime soon. The magics that preserved him were still working, as they spread through his body, mending here, regenerating there, and righting the horrible, twisted deformity of his tortured soul. A major break in his femur righted itself, the bone swinging back almost one-hundred-eighty degrees to fix itself in the right position, the splinters clattering against each other and affixing one end to the other. This movement, thankfully, finally caused enough inhuman amounts of pain that he mercifully lost consciousness. The last thing he heard before he blacked out was the clatter of approaching armor. -------------------- May the fires of Undeath burn in your soul, and consume it. Hmmm. One of the things that greatly annoys Nalyd is the assumption that life elsewhere would be anything like life on Earth. Why would they have to breath oxygen? Why would they need out exact temperature range? Why would water be necessary for life? Why would it be even remotely detectable? How do you know it would have cells, or even be made out of separate elements? -------------------- May the fires of Undeath burn in your soul, and consume it.
