Didn't XxX say he was 10 or something? The responses here seem a tad excessive, even if they are, in some respects, correct. Posts: 70 | Registered: Sunday, December 19 2004 08:00 |

They are both moderators. The problem lies in the fact that you have done very little to explain whatever it is you are trying to do. If you are, as you appear to indicate, talking about the creation of some kind of game, it might help if you gave us the premise or better yet, gave us a reason to care. It may sound harsh, but you haven't given nearly enough information for any kind of opinion. EDIT: Oops. Accidently hit reply to early. Perhaps this is in Geneforge 4 (or even in previous Geneforges, I can't really remember), but I'd like to have some skills other than Leadership factor into conversation checks. I'm thinking something along the lines of convincing a shaper to let you try fixing something by impressing him with knowledge of Mechanics. Or being able to argue your point better against someone if you have higher intelligence. I'd also like to see some more choices in terms of weaponry. Spears that reach further than regular melee weapons, maybe big heavy mauls that stun people. That would be really nice. Posts: 70 | Registered: Sunday, December 19 2004 08:00 |

quote:You don't need walking animations, nor do you need a paper doll engine. They look nice, but I'd be more interested in interesting gameplay. I don't see the need for mounts...especially with the way the world is set up now, with no division between towns and outdoor sections. What I'd like to see is some more interesting combat options for melee warriors- I liked the way you could slow enemies running past you, but it would be nice if they could get a few more options- perhaps using spear should allow you to hit someone two squares away, or a larger weapon could hit them back a square. quote:Er, it wasn't the animations I prefered- It was the entire graphical experience. I'd much rather have a decent draw distance with passable graphics (which were improved a lot by certain mods) than have to buy a forty bajillion dollar computer just so I can see in front of my own nose. quote:My horse got stuck nine times on small rocks and details on the ground. Nine times. On second thought, I think I will let him go to the glue factory. Posts: 70 | Registered: Sunday, December 19 2004 08:00 |

I played some of Oblivion today- I wasn't impressed. It was on a friends computer (Not sure of the specs- its pretty damned good though.) and the draw distance was atrocious. The animations still seem like in Morrowind- In fact, I'd go so far as to say I prefered Morrowind, at least from an aesthetic standpoint. Gameplay wise, I'm mad that spears and crossbows are gone. Mounts are absolutely useless, since when you get off, you don't do a quick leap- Oh no, you slooooowly slide off, while mister Dremora hacks away at your mount. Sorry Silver, its off to the glue factory with you. I think I'll go back to playing Daggerfall. Posts: 70 | Registered: Sunday, December 19 2004 08:00 |

quote:Er, thats nice and all, but I think theres a 5 or 6 years difference between each Avernum, not 50. I don't think you should have to come up with backstories for characters, and thus none of mine have one. I'm of the belief that your actions and choices should define who they are. (That is, if you're even interested in a roleplaying expience anyway, which to me, is secondary to gameplay.) Posts: 70 | Registered: Sunday, December 19 2004 08:00 |

The Good: - No outdoors. - Being revived when you enter a town. It makes a LOT more sense than ressurection...why is it that adventurers can come back but major villains can't? - Infinite arrows. Holy crap, Archery is useful?! - First Aid. Double holy crap, first aid is useful too? The Bad: - Lack of height (Elevation was the only thing I really liked about the Avernum engine.) - The silly skill graphics are gone! - Almost all of the gameplay, actually. The Ugly: - The graphics. :( Posts: 70 | Registered: Sunday, December 19 2004 08:00 |

The fact that he would rate Blades of Exile underneath Nethergate, and AVERNUM FOUR of all games is simply heresy. Posts: 70 | Registered: Sunday, December 19 2004 08:00 |

You have to options: One, you can try setting several buttons to one key so that you can do it, or two, you can get an emulator that doesn't totally suck. Posts: 70 | Registered: Sunday, December 19 2004 08:00 |

Alright. I've been wanting to fiddle around with BoA for some time, and I have a basic plotline, so... The party is hired to go to a mine, which was recently closed, and explore. The mine was closed due to strange creatures (not sure what- DEFINITELY not undead. I hate undead.) attacking miners. The party has to go down, find out what happened, possibly clear out the creatures, and look for survivors. Thoughts? Posts: 70 | Registered: Sunday, December 19 2004 08:00 |

If they don't want shapers in their party, they don't have to use them. quote:"Of all the things"...you don't see anything unrealistic about wizards, dragons, and shooting fire? Pfft. NIN is an acquired taste, it seems. (I couldn't stand them at first. They've really grown on me, though.) Also, add LimbLifter to that list. That music turns my frown upside down. Posts: 70 | Registered: Sunday, December 19 2004 08:00 |
