It could be make easier to pronounce, so you don't have to say each letter individually. Like the Esc Showc. And then I see Esc in what's written on that key on the upper left of my keyboard, and the 'c' at the end of 'Showc' degrades it quite a bit, so now we're left with Escape Show. That still doesn't make much sense, so we could calling something like the Escaping Act. That can be abbreviated to EA, but we still need to know that it's a cult song, so The EA Cult Song, or TEACS. That is pronounced teeks and is a lot eacier to say than my previous acronym. What do you think? -------------------- -ben4808 Posts: 3360 | Registered: Friday, June 25 2004 07:00 |

Yeah, I figured something along those lines. I would make perfect sense to catch, say the number of posts in a specific forum so you don't have to count 50,000 posts every time you visit the homepage, but I don't see how doing so for the post counts would make much difference. -------------------- -ben4808 Posts: 3360 | Registered: Friday, June 25 2004 07:00 |

Yay, let's start the series again! :D Okay, problem: The post count system as shown in the footer of the posts is really glitchy. On the message board software I'm making with PHP, it's not all that hard to just query the database and get the currrent post count of that member along with when you get the moniker of all things. Then it just all works like a charm and displays the correct post count every time, wherever you are in the forum. However they do it with UBB, it doesn't work as good and is definately less efficient. -------------------- -ben4808 Posts: 3360 | Registered: Friday, June 25 2004 07:00 |

I figured it has, but I've really never seen it used. I see now in the Avernum 4? thread somebody used it a little while before I posted that coincidentally, but before that... Never. I'm wondering, now that we're on the subject, why isn't HTML enabled on our posts? Just think of how many neat effects we could put in our posts then. :D -------------------- -ben4808 For those who love to spam: CSM Forums RIFQ Posts: 3360 | Registered: Friday, June 25 2004 07:00 |

We are now entering a world where if the poster doesn't want to start a topic on his/her next thousand, someone else will. I like it. I really do. :D Congratulations Kel, and post a bunch more before you leave. -------------------- -ben4808 For those who love to spam: CSM Forums RIFQ Posts: 3360 | Registered: Friday, June 25 2004 07:00 |

I had this problem just a little bit ago, and the problem was matter of fact the disk drive itself, as Thuryl said. If other CDs won't work either, you can't blame it on the game. I got a new CD drive, and everything works fine now. -------------------- -ben4808 Posts: 3360 | Registered: Friday, June 25 2004 07:00 |

You might try running in Windows 95 mode or something like that. There's a chance. But I wouldn't count on it. -------------------- -ben4808 Posts: 3360 | Registered: Friday, June 25 2004 07:00 |

Yeah, but may we'd better switch RW's color depth to 16-bit, in which our white is R65535 G65535 B65535. ;) -------------------- -ben4808 Posts: 3360 | Registered: Friday, June 25 2004 07:00 |

Jeff needs to go ahead and make an Avernum game on each of the five continents of the surface, in my opinion. Playing the whole game in down in Exile/Avernum or in Valorim will be too repetitive. Also, it seems to me that he should make the game more, shall we say, challenging. You know, harder monsters for a given level party, fewer and harder to get super-powerful weapons, less effective initial spells, and the such. He could encorage the trying of A1-3 before playing A4, and those of use who have been playing SWS games since 1996 (I'm not one of them, but still) can be tested and challenged. Either that or make an effective variable difficulty system. -------------------- -ben4808 For those who love to spam: CSM Forums RIFQ Posts: 3360 | Registered: Friday, June 25 2004 07:00 |

Our classes currently range in size from 4-30, with about 20 being the most common. Small classes are definately more interactive and accepting of a certain individual's input, and I like that better that sit down, be quiet and take notes with the rest of the class kind of thing. That, of course, is in individual classes. Usually a graduating class at my school will be a little over 40 or so. -------------------- -ben4808 For those who love to spam: CSM Forums RIFQ Posts: 3360 | Registered: Friday, June 25 2004 07:00 |

TGM most definately can come back, and he has, most recently to 'vote' in the elections. All for Stugie, as a matter of fact with a pretty ferret picture to boot. But he knows he's not supposed to be here, and he isn't. He should have known better that to touch that goatse, especially on the message boards where he knew full well it was inacceptible. -------------------- -ben4808 For those who love to spam: CSM Forums RIFQ Posts: 3360 | Registered: Friday, June 25 2004 07:00 |

I voted Empire because they seem to be kind of the most powerful and peaceful and have the most territory. Sure, other races can make clever and usually effective plot against them but there's always adventures to deal with the plague after their 432nd load of the save file after being horrendously beat time after time. :P -------------------- -ben4808 For those who love to spam: CSM Forums RIFQ Posts: 3360 | Registered: Friday, June 25 2004 07:00 |
