My day was a neverending pit of dispair and agony, filled with burning humiliation and shame at the hands of my peers. My soul and heart were shattered at their hands, and I was subjected to the worst tortures, those only a mad sadist could ever even conceive of.

So, yeah, my day was awesome. :P

Geneforge: Very good, but no cigar.

Avernum: This has no originality at all.

Exile: The building block of the Spiderweb Empire.

Nethergate: Shortest series ever.

So, Exile gets my vote, with Geneforge being a close second. Though I don't actually play it, I acknowledge that without it, there would be no Avernum.

I am currently reading two books, one for school, the other for pleasure. They are And Then There Were Known, by Agatha Christie, and The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, by Douglas Adams.

It's been offered out before, and it wouln't happen. Period. Such a system would be to hard to code into the game, and require Jeff to get a lot new graphics for all sorts of freaky monstrosities.

Alorael, I commend you. Fast food is a plague on the world, killing those that eat them. We need a vegetarian fast food chain. You can get a good grapefruit fast, it's cheap, it's delicious, and it's healthy.

Believe it or not, Avernum is fairly one dimensional. There's the good guys, and the bay guys. Geneforge is multi-dimensional, with none of the sides being perfect, or holding the moral highground. This leads to (hopefully) thoughtful debate about what side ultimately is best. What's more, Geneforge mirrors many political issues of the day.

You couldn't get that in Avernum. A1: The Evil Empire throws you in a pit. A2: The Evil Empire invades your homeland. A3: The Evil Vahnatai get all genocidal. A4: The Evil Vahnatai get all genocidal. There is no debate in this at all.

Food is so overated.

Everything you ever wanted to eat can be given to you in the form of a taco. For Thanksgiving, turkey meat dripping in cranberry sauce was my taco. For Christmas, a divine combination of traditional crab and shrimp in a taco. For the Fourth of July, an all American meal of juicy steak and grilled hamburger in a taco is wonderous. Other tacos include lasagna-spaghetti, fish-and-chips, Chinese food, and the traditional Mexican design.

The Saga of Geneforge ends the only way it can and that is someone using the Geneforge and destroying all other factions but himself. The Vale RP is not factional, it is character. Civil war, banditry, heroes venturing into the Northern Wastes to find a cure for the Vale, and the Anama trying to stop them. Very good stuff.

Ideally for a factional RP you will have very broad statements about large groups of people, mixed in with minor characters to give depth. You could either do it this way:

"The mercenary army of Spiderweb descended on the city, setting torch to everything. Where they found valuables, they escorted their new slaves as the slaves hauled the treasures away. Screams occasionally pierced the air as suffocated in burning building. A large wave of the citizens sprinted away from the mercenaries, determined to make it away. Few did."

Or this way:

"Jonas the stablehand was sleeping when the Spiderweb mercenaries attacked the city. Screams and the crack of fire awoke him, and he broke out in a cold sweat. Thinking quickly, he hid in the stables, beneath layers of straw.

The horses neighed as a bandit came in, Jonas leaped at him from behind, overwhelming him. Jonas had then tied and gagged the mercenary up and taken his dagger. Mounting his favorite horse, a black steed, he started going out the back exit.

He guided the horse in the shadows through the massive fires and lines of his fellows carrying away treasures as the monstrous mercenaries oversaw them. Tears welled in his eyes, and he turned away, his exit before him.

He had nearly passed it, but this was it. An off colored patch hastily placed from an earlier raid, looking normal from the other side of the wall. Jonas pulled out his dagger and chipped through the clay patch.

Guiding the horse through the crack, he then remounted and fled the city. Tears welled in his eyes as the fire burned the city, and he left with the screams reverberating in his head. Glancing around, he saw a few others escaping, but only a few. The tears returned."
