Alan King while in a hospital poured his apple juice in his urine specimen jar. When his nurse looked at the sample and mentioned it was a little cloudy, he grabbed it and said, "Maybe it'll be better after going through again" and drank it.

Aside from the shock value, it is entirely harmless to drink one's own urine, and has been done as part of some therapies (of questionable value).

I hear it is not very tasty, however.

Especially when the urine is actually apple juice. Then it is only shock value, and some tasty apple juice.

Apparently, it's been used before as mouthwash, though I can't remember which culture did it, and whether it was widespread. The ammonia kills bacteria, those these people had no way of knowing that.

Oh, and cheap gas masks.

Dude, check this out! I'm, like, going to drink my own piss. Maybe it'll make my breath smell better or something!

It was a sector of the Roman Empire, I'm fairly sure it was in Spain. One senator from the region was mocked for having very white teeth, as people new, the whiter the teeth...

Roman Empire... oh yes. It was also used to help clean their togas. Which had to be very white indeed.

Julius: "Wow, nice robe. How did you get it so clean?" [strokes robe] "It's so soft."
Gaius: "Thank you. I washed it in piss."
Julius:

During the time of the Bubonic Plague, urine baths were thought to cure the symptoms of the disease.

Consuming the defecation and urination of humans is sometimes used as torture in certain countries.

Hey everybody! We're having discussion about urine, feel free to join.

Yes, and wouldn't it result in strange effects to the skin?

You wash the piss out when you're done. With water. If you're wondering about skin effects of urine in the clothes, what do you think would be the effect of any kind of detergent if you failed to wash the clothes with water after cleaning them?
