Well, if oyu missed them last time I linked to them, you could try out the two existing Bonus Stages games. They're incredibly fun, in a cheap sort of way. =^.^= Also, lately I've been playing the demo version of StarScape, which is remarkably fun even with the twenty-minute timer. And finally, not exactly a game but still fun nonetheless, I bring you Waka Laka! It's part animutation, part original work and part insane. I sincerely apologize for it being on Newgrounds, but once you watch it you most likely won't care. =^.^= -------------------- Digital Neko - more nekojin per capita than you can beat senseless! I want to be some kind of artist who also works with computers (probably doing something creative, not just data entry). I don't want to limit myself to potentially doing just one thing, and I like both drawing and computer-related things, so it just seems ideal for me to do that rather than something I hate. Occasionally I also start to think about programming a game. I'm holding out for Pyg before I try that, though. Yes, it seems that it's finally that time...my old scanner (a Storm TotalScan - apparently Storm went out of buisness years ago) has simply refused to work with Windows XP. I plan to give it one more try, and then, well, it's time to buy a new one. So, I've been looking at potential candidates. So far I've checked out the CanoScan LiDe 50, on this page: http://consumer.usa.canon.com/ir/controller?act=ProductCatIndexAct&fcategoryid=104 and the HP scanners on this page: http://h10010.www1.hp.com/wwpc/us/en/ho/WF02a/15179-64195-215155.html ...but preferably keeping the price range under $150 US. =^.^=; Anyway, I was wondering if any of you had any thoughts about these or any other brands of scanners. Thanks! =^.^= -------------------- Digital Neko - more nekojin per capita than you can beat senseless! Now featuring all-new subdomain! Vote Richter! Belmont in 2004! Hello. I'd like to take this opporutunity to clear up some of the controversy surrounding my popular "emote", which will henceforth be known as "=^.^=". Never mind that that symbol is not pronouncable by any known sentient form of life. There's been some confusion about what exactly this symbol is supposed to mean. Every day, I'm overwhelmed with hundreds of emails about this subject. Today I'd like to provide some reassurance that this misunderstanding will be resolved. This symbol, "=^.^=", does indeed represent a cat-like face. However, due to the limitations of the ASCII that goes into creating "=^.^=", I've had to improvise many of my other faces. For example, I have no easy equivalent to " :P ". Here's a guide to what I've figured out so far... =^.^= - Represents good-natured joking, happiness, being in a good mood, etc. =^.^=; - Embarrassment, awkwardness, inability to find a way to respond to what was just said. Also used as an equivalent to " :P " occasionally when replying. =o.o= - "Weirded out!" Or else a hypnotized or zombified cat-face, or one in shock. =O.o= - Pretty much just an equivalent to O.o. Some of these are easier to adapt than others. =@.@= - This one also has to take the place of a lot of the other, non-feline emotes. It's either being freaked out, confused, or saying "I'm gonna be sick". I encourage you to use context to figure this one out. =^.^= Suggestions for additional faces are welcome here as well. =^.^= -------------------- Digital Neko - more nekojin per capita than you can beat senseless! Have you ever noticed how death and murder follow Conan and his friends around? Just his being there would be more than enough to make the foe cower, and...um...oh, the other Conan. =^.^= Well, it depends. Are they fighting in the dark? If so, I'd say the drow (Drizzt) wins, unless Conan has some power that I'm not aware of. I've never read any of their stories or watched the Conan movies. Sorry. If they were fighting on open ground or a storm-wracked tower, on the other hand, then I think that Conan could win through sheer brute force. I'm not saying that either of them could conceivably kill the other without substantial preparation or pure luck, but they could at least force a temporary retreat. =^.^= -------------------- Digital Neko - more nekojin per capita than you can beat senseless! I too would have to say that not all of these are even nearly universal...and is it just me, or does two directly conflict with four and five? And as for number four, I think the Internet has taken that apart. People no longer have to rely almost entirely on established firms to publish their creativity, which is a good thing. -------------------- Digital Neko - more nekojin per capita than you can beat senseless! Thanks for being so polite, everyone. =^.^= Color is new territory for me, and I appreciate all the support and feedback you've given. As for the issues you brought up... About the eye, I'm not quite sure what you mean by it standing out too much or needing another color - I like it the way it is - but I'll experiment a bit anyway. The ears really do look good with some color inside, too. I wonder why I didn't think of that myself... =^.^=; And as for his leg...Djur pretty much said it. Almost everything I was going to say has been said already - pockets and storage, protection from elements, protection from minor wounds, Protection from Blindness (Others), personal insignias or other ID, personal taste for wearing clothes...the abolishment of clothing would most likely hurt On the other hand, there are definitely some situations where not wearing clothes is an advantage... If you really want to do it all the time, go ahead. Just don't expect me to stare at you all day. =^.^= Hmm, there are more visual artists here than I thought. Interesting... Good point, Davida. I think the main problem here is that the average Tetris field is only a certain number of rows deep - I haven't measured exactly - so really the only thing you have to worry about is your particular version of Tetris not being able to handle the sheer size of your "playing field". That actually shouldn't be a problem with all of the stuff I mentioned and a strong enough power grid, though. Hmm... And as an aside, I didn't write this because I was bored, I wrote it because I had an idea that I thought people would find amusing. -------------------- Digital Neko - more nekojin per capita than you can beat senseless! Okay, we all know how fun it is to just lob rocks at random passerby, right? And that it's even more fun if you do it from an above-ground-level window, right? And of course doing it while you're playing Dance Dance Retribution is even more fun if you defenestrate the rocks, although it doesn't really match up to throwing yourself, right? Well, I figured out a way to make it even more fun! The first thing you need to do is clear an area next to a second floor window, although third floor or higher is preferred. Not more than ten though or it'll mess up your accuracy. Okay, got it cleared? Good. Now you need to make sure that there's an open space directly under your window, so that people will walk under it. Actually, you probably should've done that first. Then you need to assemble a bunch of large, flat-sided boulders, all with exactly enough mass to shape out various shapes of four cubes. Making or chiseling down your own is acceptable if you can't find them just laying around. You also need to buy or "borrow" a really big game console. Not like a GameCube or a PS2 or even the NES or Atari 2600. YOu need a really bigconsole, with a built-in 124-inch monitor and a personal generator at the very least. You may also want to scope out a potential target; learn their schedule, and stuff. Now here's when things get fun. You'll need one more item to succed in your sacred quest: TetrisBorg 8000! That's right - once you have this game you can finally begin. You need to insert the photonic cartridge into your console (you did remember to get one, right?) and then hook the wires and visor goggles that came with it onto your head and arms. Normally these would only translate your thoughts and motion into input suitable for gameplay, but since you've hooked it up to your leet system you should be able to hack directly into your brain and optic and reflexive nerves! You can probably figure that part out on your own. Now that you've finally done all that, ignore any pain and wait for your target to arrive... You see, by installing TetrisBorg 8000 into your mind, you've effectively used the game's processing to render the world in an awesome 8-Bit external viewpoint! That basically means that you'll be able to see yourself and the action from a floating viewpoint outside the building, giving you a much better view of your hapless targets, not to mention that you've overclocked your reflexes and perception by at least 1000 percent. Once they're in position, it's time to unleash the rocks! Remember those large stones I told you to get? Notice how they're all the same size but different shapes, composed of four blocks? That's right! There's a reason I told you to get TetrisBorg 8000 instead of, say, Cave Dig, or Niyuki-chan's Adventure in Sarabiland, or Joel's Adventure. Use your super-enhanced vision and reflexes to drop the blocks in precision form, burying the one foolish enough to enter your domain under a hail of earthen fury! 100,000 bonus points if you do it with a Tetris! And there you have it! I hope you find this method as enjoyable as I do! Just be sure to take the equipment off if you start to feel any mild vibrating or buzzing, or if you start to smoke or emit beams of light from your eyes (unless you do that normally). Have fun! =^.^= Notes! A "Tetris" is the term for when you clear four rows of blocks at once. This can only be done with the straight, or I-shaped, tetris block. I don't really know how many points it's generally worth, I've never really played Tetris all that much and there are a bazillion different versions of it floating around. =^.^=; Niyuki-chan's Adventures in Sarabiland is the latest in a series of games I've wanted to make about "my" characters. -------------------- Digital Neko - more nekojin per capita than you can beat senseless!
