I was fooling with http://groups.yahoo.com I noticed there were groups for Avernum and Spiderweb Software. Not too many members yet. Yahoo Groups is kind of like a chain letter. You ask a bunch of people to join, then you ask that each person ask a couple people to join, etc. -------------------- Wasting your time and mine looking for a good laugh. 6 members, no new messages since January, and then only one then. Really something I'd like to join. :P -------------------- -ben4808 For those who love to spam: CSM Forums RIFQ Posts: 3360 | Registered: Friday, June 25 2004 07:00 |

In a world where the success rate for boards seems to be far below 10%, and where there are so many thriving online societies, you sometimes wonder where all the failed attempts end up. In fact, they litter the whole web - we just almost never get to see them. Social Darwinism, lottery full of winners anyone? -------------------- The Encyclopaedia Ermariana <-- Now a Wiki! I'd rather have a dead discussion board than a yahoo group, the ads just kill me, but I suppose some folks are more comfortable wih email than baords. -------------------- Scandalous Stories, fishing, and great photos Posts: 294 | Registered: Monday, November 24 2003 08:00 |

I was once in an MSN group... that is, I still am, but I'd rather not be. I can't figure out how to cancel membership, and I still get a dozen mails each day every time somebody posts. -------------------- The Encyclopaedia Ermariana <-- Now a Wiki! Livejournal costs to join to get full functionality. It is not free. If it costs more money than I can do something useful with I make sure that I am getting my moneys worth. Useful is a 25 cent phone call. I'm a cheap b*****d. I am curious what are the all boards for spiderweb including groups like msn, etc. -------------------- Wasting your time and mine looking for a good laugh. Spiderweb Software Forums The Lyceum Polaris Desperance Chance The Abyss Wise Forums Jonnie's Domain Forums The Club of All Blades of Avernum Center Ultimate RP The Realm of Eldibs And don't ask me how I found that last one. It suffices to say that it wasn't easy, and involved a tedious amount of search. :P I will have left out a hundred times as many as I listed. As I said, we only ever see the remotely successful boards. -------------------- The Encyclopaedia Ermariana <-- Now a Wiki! Well, you see, I just went to invisionfree, looked at their Board Index for Gaming forums, and listed the least active first. Then I went through page by page and did a text search for Spiderweb. And then I saw that poor little forum with only four members sitting there all alone (*sniff*), and I decided to give it a little company. :P [ Sunday, August 08, 2004 14:31: Message edited by: Taron Gregor Merallion ] -------------------- The Encyclopaedia Ermariana <-- Now a Wiki! I'm just curious again. Does anyone know the record for the most posts in one topic here at Spiderweb or at any forum in genenral? There's got to be a pretty popular topic here, but maybe not matching the 620 posts  on one topic at TCoA. -------------------- -ben4808 For those who love to spam: CSM Forums RIFQ Posts: 3360 | Registered: Friday, June 25 2004 07:00 |

New Silvar Inn (The original) Xian Skull What are you listening to (The original) Other RP topics I'm pretty sure they went over a thousand. Oh yeah, and some of the topics in the Misc. Abyss at Polaris... Connections there is 150 pages or so... All of New Silvar Inn together probably went over 1000, but no single RP topic here ever did. I killed "What are you listening to?" at 500 or so. The original Nephils vs. Sliths, on the other hand, did, I think. And I never saw Xian Skull. Posts: 3234 | Registered: Thursday, October 4 2001 07:00 |

Connections. On any forum around here, if there's a connections thread, it'll almost always be the longest there is. Polaris sports 2138 since January 28 Chance has 2470, and 1084 in its new incarnation since April 6. TCOA has only 622, but it started in July 6. -------------------- The Encyclopaedia Ermariana <-- Now a Wiki! Why? In what way is this topic spam? I think it is a meaningful discussion on the survival chances of online boards. No mangos, yaoi(sp?) or lockse here, please. :P -------------------- The Encyclopaedia Ermariana <-- Now a Wiki! It was interesting looking at the other boards. Half of them are dead. I like playing with links in peoples footers as well. However, there does not seem to be a way to search members to see if they have links attached to their descriptions. It would be interesting to see what the links are from the various members in alphabetical order. I know there would be a few things worth looking at. -------------------- Wasting your time and mine looking for a good laugh. What connection do you have? :P *sees that somebody has to ask the question and this would be a good time without starting a new topic. Also, wants to know how long a topic like this lasts on Spiderweb. Also thinks that someone should change the subject back. :P * -------------------- -ben4808 For those who love to spam: CSM Forums RIFQ Posts: 3360 | Registered: Friday, June 25 2004 07:00 |
