Considering that a sizable percentage of the Blades community is Mac-using, especially among designers, I say you should make everything cross-platform whenever possible. I may be slightly biased because I am a Mac user. :P -------------------- Arancaytar: Every time you ask people to compare TM and Kel, you endanger the poor, fluffy kittens. I have no idea what you're talking about. I assumed that someone else would, but apparently not. If you do not have the Opening Stone: go down the cave slope in the Libraries near the stairway leading to the Experiment Halls; then follow through with what you find there until you get the Opening Stone. Use the Stone in the Libraries to open the front gate. Go to the northeastern-most room and place a textbook on the rug that doesn't have a textbook on it already. (If you don't have a textbook, you can get one from behind a secret passage in the meditation cells in the Student Quarters above the Libraries.) You should get a key from this. I find it kind of funny that VoDT, which is the only scenario that comes with a walkthrough (in the file Blades of Avernum Manual.pdf, Chapter 12: Hint Book For the Demo), is the scenario that gets the most help topics posted about it. At any rate... I think all of your questions will be answered if you head down to the Experiment Halls and exit through the south. Fight your way through the tunnel and you'll get the answer to all three of your questions. You can get to the Experiment Halls by taking the right-most of the descending stairs in the southern end of the Student Quarters, and then walking straight across the Libraries level to the stairs in the southeast corner. From there. You will need a key to get through the doors. If you want help on getting that key, post again. EDIT: Eh, just after Thuryl. [ Tuesday, November 16, 2004 20:24: Message edited by: Kelandon ] -------------------- Arancaytar: Every time you ask people to compare TM and Kel, you endanger the poor, fluffy kittens. Assuming you mean the Opening Stone item (as opposed to a special item of some sort), you click on that little lightning bolt (or sunburst or some such) in the lower right-hand corner of the inventory box right next to it. For it to do anything, you have to be near one of the glowing green gates. EDIT: WBS's answer is correct if you are talking about the special item Runed Stone. The general idea, Jill, is that most resurrected topics look like this. That is, someone pointlessly revives a topic while adding nothing new and creates more spam on these already too-taxed boards. Reviving a topic when you have something genuinely new and relevant to add is fine. It's just that most people don't do that. -------------------- Arancaytar: Every time you ask people to compare TM and Kel, you endanger the poor, fluffy kittens. Smoo: Get ready to face the walls! quote:Good to know I'm not the only one. quote:Hotspur's name was Henry, too, wasn't it? We just read that play for English class. It was pretty nifty. We then spent an entire class period, 80 minutes, comparing 1 Henry IV and the Lion King. Think about it. Timon and Pumba = Falstaff. The jungle = the tavern. Cool, huh? Well, I thought it was cool, anyway. :P -------------------- Arancaytar: Every time you ask people to compare TM and Kel, you endanger the poor, fluffy kittens. Did you download for the right operating system (Mac/Windows)? Did you un-compress it (usually done automatically, but sometimes not)? Also, punctuation would be much appreciated. Those two are both pretty tricky at moments. Feel free to ask questions if you get stuck. Also, if you want to play Emerald Mountain but don't have a level 15-20 party lying around, you can make one using the High Level Party Maker, available from my web site (link in signature). -------------------- Arancaytar: Every time you ask people to compare TM and Kel, you endanger the poor, fluffy kittens. Usual disclaimer: my information comes from Avernum, not Exile, but it should be the same. From the FAQ in the header of the AT boards: "Head south from the altar, kill some more priests, then check the SE wall for secret passages. Go down it, and bathe in each of the three pools. Don't read the rune! Go north, then head west, you'll find a secret passage. Since you bathed in the slime you can pass the rune." The boat is right past that rune. EDIT: Same time as Xan Kreigor. Oh well. [ Sunday, November 14, 2004 20:09: Message edited by: Kelandon ] -------------------- Arancaytar: Every time you ask people to compare TM and Kel, you endanger the poor, fluffy kittens. Dude, just make a BoA scenario that incorporates BoE-type spells. It would be so much easier.... Well, if you can pull it off, more power to you. The problem you might run into is that the party will always be 2D, unless you modify core files, in which case Spiderweb will declare your scenario illegal and will not host it (which may or may not matter — Corporeus faced this). -------------------- Arancaytar: Every time you ask people to compare TM and Kel, you endanger the poor, fluffy kittens. How to take screenshots varies with your operating system. Mac OS X uses the utility Grab (in the folder Utilities in the folder Applications). I think PCs use the key Print Screen. EDIT: The HLPM is sort of a supplement to the Character Editor. The HLPM can make fairly legitimate parties. It can also make ridiculous god parties that blow the Character Editor out of the water. Toast's screenshot comes from the Arena in the HLPM. The HLPM is a scenario, which might not be obvious based on how Spiderweb has classified it. Note also that they are temp-bans. Stareye seems to like the practice of banning for a week as a second warning to those who didn't listen to the first. Micael, after a certain point, you just have to release this thing and make another scenario. Eight beta versions is too many for just about any scenario, I think. I hope this gets finished soon, because regardless of the negative reviews, it's still better to get a scenario out there than not. -------------------- Arancaytar: Every time you ask people to compare TM and Kel, you endanger the poor, fluffy kittens.
