I only change the first characters name to my own. Still looks crap, but with personality. If crap can have personality. -------------------- "But The Damage is Irreversible" Posts: 358 | Registered: Monday, October 27 2003 08:00 |

Yeah, but a few soldiers is nothing compared to the beating you should be getting. Why would the xenophobic empire allow a giant lizard to go anywhere near the great cities. Frankly, if it was realistic, youd get attacked at or locked out of every city, village and hut. -------------------- "But The Damage is Irreversible" Posts: 358 | Registered: Monday, October 27 2003 08:00 |

I see the scenario as a living thing. The plot is the heart, and however intresting its combat or scripting, it cant move without a plot. Plot is the master in my opinion. I think it says something that people still play and make Exile scenarios, when their "technical trickery" has been surpassed by BOA. Having said that, I wouldn't touch Exile with a bargepole. I mean, 2D, What the hell is up with that!??! -------------------- "But The Damage is Irreversible" Posts: 358 | Registered: Monday, October 27 2003 08:00 |

I think as soon as the pillar blows you can go straight to the bottom levels, using the stairs, and then go to the northwestern room. If you've done that, i have no idea what the problem is. -------------------- "But The Damage is Irreversible" Posts: 358 | Registered: Monday, October 27 2003 08:00 |

You seem to have sevearley different interpretations of the word "adventurer". You seem to add generals, pirates and the like whereas i wouldnt count them. I mean its pretty hard to adventure when youre followed by a 30,000 strong army and are going into explored territory. -------------------- "Fair and unbiased" Posts: 358 | Registered: Monday, October 27 2003 08:00 |

Terry Goodking and Jordan are twins. Thei books are idetical. Goodkind's first book is pretty damn good fantasy, but then he just rambles on and in the end goes political/philosophical. Sad really. -------------------- "Fair and unbiased" Posts: 358 | Registered: Monday, October 27 2003 08:00 |

Edit: Couldnt be bothered to try and defend the governments. They can do that for themselves. Or maybe, as you say, they cant. [ Tuesday, January 04, 2005 13:12: Message edited by: Angry Ogre ] -------------------- "Fair and unbiased" Posts: 358 | Registered: Monday, October 27 2003 08:00 |

Jef has a habit of turning things on their head. As we all know, the enemies in the first avernum are the allies in the next, and the allies in the second avernum are your enemies in the thid. Maybe (hopefully not) he will do this again. Maybe something as "clever" as enemy of avernum iew point. -------------------- "Fair and unbiased" Posts: 358 | Registered: Monday, October 27 2003 08:00 |

Huge cave lore and low outdoorsman. Also their limited diet could have some effect on poison resistance. Not sure about endurance. Maybe because of their smaller frame a toughness or strength penalty might be in order. -------------------- "Fair and unbiased" Posts: 358 | Registered: Monday, October 27 2003 08:00 |

That would be true, but the fact tht they get a lot more practice (from living longer) and that they have had thousands of years to develop styles of sword fighting would counter that. -------------------- "Fair and unbiased" Posts: 358 | Registered: Monday, October 27 2003 08:00 |

Frankly, I hope the plot doesnt happen anywhere near Valorim. Ive alreay explored it once, and it pretty obvious that it will flourish afterwards, so im not too bothered about going back. Id like to go on to new places. -------------------- "Fair and unbiased" Posts: 358 | Registered: Monday, October 27 2003 08:00 |

There seemed to be a liberal sprinkling of Hispanics, but the Asians seem to be the least reprsentead. And of course, I like the racism in the Trilogies. It adds to the realism, however sad this may be. -------------------- "But The Damage is Irreversible" Posts: 358 | Registered: Monday, October 27 2003 08:00 |

I assume that it would be very long and complicated. There are literally thousands of SDFs, and you would (i think) have to scour the whole game after changing each SDF, to identify the function of each SDF. And maybe, as Alorael said, the Tinraya events are controled by many SDFs. -------------------- "But The Damage is Irreversible" Posts: 358 | Registered: Monday, October 27 2003 08:00 |

I have read writers that have tried to be more realistic. They end up making a story more unreal than it would be if they wrote it in the classical style. They tend to give in to every pessimistic impulse they have. It is as bland and uninspired as the fantasy they are trying to improve.
