In a delicious twist of irony, that picture applies to the quoted post as much as it does to the post directly above it. :) -------------------- Encyclopaedia Ermariana • Forum Archives • Forum Statistics • RSS [Topic / Forum] My Blog • Polaris • I eat novels for breakfast. I'm planning to finish the script this weekend, though, after I've posted this month's stats. There's a series? I only ever read a single Vorkosigan book, "The Warrior's Apprentice". Eldibs: When you solve the game, the game is over. What is so odd about that? To enjoy the game as a drawn-out challenge that lasts many weeks, perhaps months, I suggest playing without consulting online sources. I've had great fun putting the games away and replaying them after around 2 years when I've forgotten the details of the riddles. But perhaps I just have a bad memory. -------------------- Encyclopaedia Ermariana • Forum Archives • Forum Statistics • RSS [Topic / Forum] My Blog • Polaris • I eat novels for breakfast. I've played Myst, Riven, Myst III: Exile and tried the demo of Uru. I'll buy Revelation around February when the exams are done, and ask for End of Ages for my birthday. No need to rush the greatest series of computer games ever made. On another note, I just bought BoA. On a third note, I played Well of Souls, and after spending a few hundred hours in addiction, I realized that it sucks. Horrendously. I've played Escape Velocity: Nova, as well, which is the only game of its genre (and series) I've tried. I've heard many say it's the worst (or at least not the best) of the series, but so far I haven't gotten around to checking out the others. Are they even ported to Windows? I feel very nostalgic about Albion. The first RPG I ever played! Too bad I can't get it to run on any computer I now have. Would probably need Windows 95/98. Ancient Domains of Mystery, however, holds the record for keeping my interest the longest. I played ADOM long before I joined these boards (though not before I started to play Spiderweb games), and I've played it on and off for the past 4 years. On another note, I just found the name of the first game of ANY genre I ever played in my life (well, except the Gorilla one that was mentioned in another thread). Redhook's Revenge! Arrrr. -------------------- Encyclopaedia Ermariana • Forum Archives • Forum Statistics • RSS [Topic / Forum] My Blog • Polaris • I eat novels for breakfast. Polaris is dead, long live Polaris. In A3, Avernum is a power that is not only stable but expanding - actively sending an exploration mission with the intent to regain surface land eventually. That's the first time where the situation in the game has been sparked directly through Avernum's actions, not through the Empire's. -------------------- Encyclopaedia Ermariana • Forum Archives • Forum Statistics • RSS [Topic / Forum] My Blog • Polaris • I eat novels for breakfast. Mh. Elizabeth Moon is one author I haven't heard of at all yet. So she writes both SciFi and Fantasy? On another note, it's amazing you appear to post here again on a semi-regular basis, Prem. When you notice it, it *is* weird. You have the impression the other guy must be getting creeped out by you just standing there saying nothing. I can understand why Saavedro brains you if you do that to him while he's waiting for you to--- [spoiler]. -------------------- Encyclopaedia Ermariana • Forum Archives • Forum Statistics • RSS [Topic / Forum] My Blog • Polaris • I eat novels for breakfast. Well, the Soviet national anthem was once refitted with Swedish lyrics sounding faintly similar to the Russian original, and translating into English thusly: quote: -------------------- Encyclopaedia Ermariana • Forum Archives • Forum Statistics • RSS [Topic / Forum] My Blog • Polaris • I eat novels for breakfast. There is one BoA competition that is sponsored by Spiderweb itself, I believe, and there are recurring competitions run by the Lyceum ("Olympia"). I don't know if there is a set time period for these contests. -------------------- Encyclopaedia Ermariana • Forum Archives • Forum Statistics • RSS [Topic / Forum] My Blog • Polaris • I eat novels for breakfast. It's not a problem when displaying as much as it will be annoying when I try to parse the files and enter the posts into a MySQL database - although of course it will be possible to do that case-insensitively. I am expecting to see a surge in new members by the time the January stats come around, too. Happens whenever a new game gets out - look at GF3, the joining and post rates almost doubled in a month. These forums are going to be a little less quiet and peaceful for some time... :-/ -------------------- Encyclopaedia • Archives • Members • RSS [Topic / Forum] • Blog • Polaris • NaNoWriMo Look on my works, ye mighty, and despair.
