Some of it is, but most of it is derived from BoA/BoE scenarios, and a lot of it is made up on the spot. For example, Drakefyre has quite extensive informtion about the Vahnatai, which has neither been used in a scenario nor derived from the games. The history of the Empire (the move from Aizo to Pralgad, the Ironclad dynasty, the Anama War, etc) is well-documented, but practically all of it has been invented by oldbies for use in scenarios and for the BoE arena. David, no it isn't, but all the same I'd like it if it were easy to find only if you're looking for it. That should keep off the less patient stalkers, and those who know what to look for are usually able to find it out no matter what you do. It's not common for a guy to get stalked, but it's not unheard of. We need a :ph43r: smiley here. :P ----- Edit: Since the "Bored" topic was locked and this is closest (and mine, so I can hijack with impunity), the statistics will indeed be done in two weeks, and will be hosted on the new server. Also, note that all monthly ranking lists are currently unavailable and will remain so until Logo gives me the files I stored at images.polarisboard.org, which was taken offline rather more quickly than I had anticipated. No, that's what I meant by "some of you". I actually put it in my sig and told it to some people (eg. Drakey) and posted it in a few threads, but I never actually announced it. One reason, of course, is that I don't generally like to host things under my real name, and the old address contained exactly that. Edit: And the Geocities site has been dead so long that it's no wonder you haven't heard of it. Some of you might have noticed that the Encyclopedia Ermariana, formerly hosted at Geocities, was switched to a MediaWiki site on August 22nd this year. The MediaWiki site then broke down for a month or so, until I reinstalled it on November 8th. Now, the Wiki site has moved to a new host, and has been upgraded to version 1.5.3. A notable change is that image uploads are once again enabled, since the new host does not employ php safemode. I'd planned getting a new host from the start, and I was going to wait with the actual announcement until the site was at the new address. This is now the case, so here's the announcement: The Encyclopedia Ermariana is now available at http://encyclopedia.ermarian.net ! If you are linking to it on your BoE/BoA site, please don't forget to update your link. You need to log in to edit pages, but anyone can create an account. Feel free to add to the site; that's what a Wiki is for. :) -------------------- Encyclopaedia Ermariana • Forum Archives • Forum Statistics • RSS [Topic / Forum] My Blog • Polaris • I eat novels for breakfast. The beginning of "Dies Irae" from Mozart's Requiem. Alternatively, certain parts (that I can't remember right now) from Mary Jean Holmes' "The Grey Pilgrim". I have a Gandalf avatar on Polaris. :) Note that these two suggestions are entirely different in mood. The Requiem is practically raging, while the Gandalf theme is more "pensive". -------------------- Encyclopaedia Ermariana • Forum Archives • Forum Statistics • RSS [Topic / Forum] My Blog • Polaris • I eat novels for breakfast. Indeed, spy, I originally thought the story would get at least twice as long in terms of plot. Then, the plot kept expanding and expanding, and I couldn't finish it within a month. And, as I said, the next chapter would only be something like "The Council of Elrond". A good part after which to put in a break, but not a part where to end a story. -------------------- Encyclopaedia • Archives • Members • RSS [Topic / Forum] • Blog • Polaris • NaNoWriMo Look on my works, ye mighty, and despair. Thuryl, how the hell do you arrive at the wild guess that by "Cretecs" he means "Celts"? Also, a bonus for consistency in "questoins". While Thuryl is right in his implication that for-loops are not the ultimate in the art of programming, and there are situations where another alternative is more effective, I believe this particular author has yet to discover its value: Uh, yeah. *Doubly* pointless, you might realize - not only a while instead of a for, but a badly used while too! Edit: hahaha. This was part of a "Prisoner's Dilemma" program, where one Java class was the game, and other Java classes were virtual "players" who were informed of the last move and queried for the next one. Turns out the programmers shared work. One made the game, and treated "true" as betrayal, and "false" as cooperation, the other made the algorithms and treated "false" as betrayal. Which led to some interesting results, predictably. :P [ Thursday, December 01, 2005 05:08: Message edited by: Saavedro ] -------------------- Encyclopaedia Ermariana • Forum Archives • Forum Statistics • RSS [Topic / Forum] My Blog • Polaris • I eat novels for breakfast. Nah, even the topic numbers have six digits on UBB. It'll take topic #1000000 to break the board, and for member numbers it would be the billionth (milliardth) account. Consider for a moment the superiority of phpBB and Invision, whose coders have the amazing ability to transmit such numbers without a fixed length, potentially allowing them to contain topics as large as the 11 digit integer value that can be stored in MySQL! Incredible. -------------------- Encyclopaedia Ermariana • Forum Archives • Forum Statistics • RSS [Topic / Forum] My Blog • Polaris • I eat novels for breakfast.
